[Q] jumpers? - LG Revolution

I was messing around with my Revolution before I get rid of it and I found what I believe to be are jumpers on the back of the phone on the bottom left. I took the back case off, removed a small rubber piece maybe an inch above the bottom left, and there were four prongs that look like jumpers. I may be wrong.
Anyone have any idea if they're not jumpers what they are? And is there anything I can do with them?

I do believe that those are for the wireless charger back accessory ( LGVS910-WLDR) but I could be wrong

You're correct. And as an aside, I'm now hooked on wireless charging of my Revo.

Droid 3 and wireless charging....

I noticed in looking at the most recent Bionic pic's that there were prongs that indicated wireless charging capability....so of course I took the back of my D3 and I see prongs there too.....so I have to ask....does the D3 have the same capability?
yes, you can buy the charging pad and get the required back cover from Verizon.
Don't quote me on this but I believe it is also possible to use the moto inducting backplate with a Powermat or an energizer pad.

It definitely works. I have bother the wireless charging pad and the inductive battery cover from Verizon and it works. The only problem is that it adds a bit more thickness than even the extended battery cover.
This is why I have been holding off on buying one.. I have a powermat, but I don't feel like buying it online and having it not work, been waiting to check it out in store then be able to take it home and take it back if it doesn't, though like you said I also believe it is possible.. Looking forward to my local VZW store to get them in... They don't have crap accessory wise around me..

This is confirmed. I asked the Powermat twitter account if this would work and they said no.

Any help for my Captivate?

I had to do the UnbrickableMod on my Captivate. That went perfectly, however, a couple days afterwards my screen turned to this. The color is like this from boot, even the AT&T animation has this color. I tried flashing to stock with Odin and doing a master clear, that didn't help. Anyone have any ideas?

Shoot, I have no clue.... :banghead:
Sent from my cm_tenderloin using xda premium
Not knowing fully the internals of the Captivate, is it possible that the cable that connects the screen to the motherboard isn't attached fully? Your picture looks similar to what happens when a component video cable doesn't have one of its plugs in all the way.
Thinking back to my old 8525, it had a ribbon cable that was directly under the directional pad. After a while, it would come loose and make the screen go all white, looking similar to yours prior to doing that.
Ill check that out, I'm pretty sure all the cable are tight. Thanks for the idea!

Nope, I tore it completely apart again. It still looks the same.

DIY official dock car mount

I really liked the fact the dock could do audio out and charge via the pogo pins, so I figured that would be perfect in the car. When I got the dock, I couldn't find a good spot to mount it....until now. The completed setup works awesomely!
All you need for this project is a metal bookend and some JB weld.
Bookend
Dock attached with JB Weld
Piece removed from the cover bezel
Wires fed to where the back of the dock will be
All I did here was wedge the bookend between the radio and dash kit, and then attached the cables for power/audio
BACK TO THE PRIMITIVE!!!!

What's so bad about it? At least I don't have to plug anything in or butcher my nexus like most "clean" installs.

Nice ... as long as you do not drive ..
Works fine when driving. The pins actually make better contact if the tablet is pushed slightly forward, so I bent the vertical part of the bookend to keep it slightly forward. Plus the rubber on the rear of the nexus making contact with it seems to create enough friction to keep it from popping up.
WARNING: Turn down your volume.
Good to know this works. I was planning on doing something a bit similar, but slowly building it up to be cleaner in the end. The dock will be an integral part, though.
Do you have any trouble keeping the tablet charged? I know people have no problems if they use one of the recommended chargers from the charger thread, but I wasn't sure if the dock may hinder or slow down charging any.
Awesome! Thanks man

Well I have it set to keep the screen awake while charging, so it does still drain the battery. It really isn't bad though. Barely goes down. The speed of the charging seems equivalent to charging via usb connection, rather than the wall charger.

Sorry for not responding for so long. I did have a bit at first when going over bumps, but over time it stopped. I think it's because the pins springy-ness calmed down over time. Also, the bookend helps keep the tablet from moving, because the rubber backing of the tablet makes contact with it and keeps it from too much. So over time, this setup has ended up working perfectly.
I have the same setup. Do you constantly have to enable media output to dock? When I start mine up each time I have to go into the sound settings and fix this.

When charging my phone the plug burnt and melted

Last night I forgot to charge my phone, so I plugged it in on the way to work and notice the charge light went out on the phone and when I checked the plug to see if it came out out was hot and melting. When I got to the job I plugged it in with a wall charger thinking the car charger went bad and it was doing the same thing. I figured I'll turn the phone off to save my battery to transfer stuff to the computer when I get home to take it to sprint, I decided to try it again while it was off and now it's not doing it even now I turned the phone back on.
In running the latest 42one rom no custom kernel, I guess whatever was going on isn't happening because it rebooted now.
Anyone ever experience this issue, now I'm afraid to leave it plugged in when I go to bed if it happens again, there isn't no point in taking it to sprint because I'm not able to show them what was happening.

I actually did have this happen to me. It was serve melting but it was extremely hot to where it was uncomfortable to touch. I reported it to HTC got a new charger and all has been well since. I was running Bad Boyz and have no idea what the heck happened. I had it charging over night. I'll find the wall piece and upload a pic in the am to show. Hopefully the damage will show well.

I don't get it?
The OP probably was using the OEM charger, so I think this is a rarity, but a word of caution to everyone: Not all USB chargers are made the same. You should only use high quality OEM charges for your phones, there's no reason to have a fire hazard to save a couple bucks on a charger.
This happened to me a couple of days. I got to work and plugged it in as usual. After a few minutes i noticed the red light went out. I noticed the bottom of the phone was really warm so i unplugged it and the tip of the charger burnt the crap out of my fingers.
I tried other charges and they didn't work and my Mophie won't charge my phone anymore so just like the OP, I ran a Nandroid back-up along with a Titanium back-up preparing to have to swap it out and then having to worry about getting it s-off'd.
As of today, it's charging with another charger but i did scrape the charging port with a needle because it looked like it might have had some char on it.
Fingers crossed!

Most likely a bad rectifier that's allowing some noise on the (what should be) clean DC.
Dirty DC will cause all sorts of ugly on a digital device.

I had a similar problem with my first One. I was charging it on a crappy work computer, and one of the points got zapped. I could still charge my phone from a plug-in, but it wouldn't connect to any computer. $50 later (thanks Sprint), I had a brand new phone. That I may or may not have promptly bricked.

Wireless Charging issue (maybe bad charger?)

Not sure if there's something specific you need to do but I bought a brand new techmatte wireless charger. The reviews were all great and I got. From Amazon. I tried it with my g2 and nothing. No matter how much I adjusted it it wouldn't work. The charger lit up when plugged in the wall but the phone didn't charge and the charger didn't show that it recognized a phone on it. I already filed a return since I just got it today but if anyone has any ideas and it works I can cancel the return thanks.
Ps. There's a video on YouTube of it working with other phones so maybe my phone is the issue???

the last bit of advice I can think of for the time being is that the Qi receiver for the phone is on the lower half of the phone. Sometimes I have to position it just so until it registers. Best of luck other than that with your new charger.
If this is anything like the PowerBot Qi charger I got from Amazon, you need to use the supplied cable. I tried to use what I had plugged into my computer at the time and it didn't quite fit right and was very loose so it wouldn't properly power up my Qi charger.

As far as I concerned, if it's truly a Qi charger it should work. Maybe you have a faulty unit and they don't have to eat the cost? I'd just return it and get another product. This is what I got:
http://www.amazon.com/PowerBot®-Ind...F8&qid=1398696518&sr=8-2&keywords=powerbot+qi
This works for my two LG G2 VS980 and my Galaxy Nexus 7 (2013). Make sure you use the supplied cable or you'll have a loose connection.
