Hi all
I discovered that I have Swype now (not sure if I previosly had it). I know how to enable and use it, it's really nice with english!
But, a big but, my main language is Swiss German, this language does not have an official grammar and thus also no Swype support.
Is there now an easy way to switch between the two keyboards (Motorola default and swype) without always going into home - Settings - input language - and there set the default back to the default one?
I tried to long press space, but that only gives a Tab.
Thanks
Pato
Whenever you select a non default keyboard and begin typing, check your notifications. There will be a small keyboard icon. It allows you to change the keyboard used instantly

Also, if you just found Swype as an option on your phone then it's probably a pre-installed version.
If you search google for Swype Beta and sign up you can download their latest beta version (which is currently free) and this may support more languages.
I bet Swiss German will never come, simply because like every 50th person writes it differently
And big thanks for the pulldown tip, that works!

Just found an article (in Norwegian) about this application.
http://www.nuance.com/t9trace/
It's seems like a Swype competitor, but supports more languages, and to me, who needs Norwegian language input, it could be a better alternative.
Pictures show that Android platform is supported.
Couldn't find it in Marked, but the press release from 3 days ago may indicate that it will be available soon.

hmm seems like a good competitor for swype, i prefer their layout better than swypes.
Anyone would know where to find the .apk for T9 Trace ?
I asked for it on twitter and they told me it's not a software to download. It come with your phone or forget about it...
Almost looks like the SlideIt keyboard available on the market. That works great on my Nexus. I just wish I could long press keys for numbers or punctuation. I use that as Swype isn't available on the market and it works great.
Plus if you buy the full version, there are a lot of language dictionaries you can download for free to get support for the language.

Here is the list of all the languages:

Still no way to get t9 trace ?
I am looking for the app on the market, the internet : nothing
any link to an apk ?
Its nearing a year....
No update about T9 trace... :-(
Definitely more then a year now, i cant find T9 trace anywhere, only old references to flex t9 which is trace but doesnt have the newer features that predict words like Swift key.
It really seems like good competition for the new Touchpal which swypes and predicts but just cant find it anywhere :-(
Hi folks,
I love original android system. I don't want to install any modified versions. My last G1 is a brick right now.
I know many of the modified version has autocomplete on the device keyboard just like it is on a virtual keyboard. I like the function since I am horrible at spelling.
Anyway, is there a way I can do that by just install some type of applications? Thx! I think it would be just an input method!
Thank you!
Actually, I meant when we type in "acc", there will be "accompany" or "accumulation" these types of options letting us choice to complete.
Which is the "Show Suggestion" function.
Smart Keyboard Pro has this I believe. It's $3 on the market and its dictionary includes our favorite 4-letter words if you catch my drift. Check it out.
htc ime keyboard has this,
It seems like a good idea, but from using it (With HTC IME), it really slows down typing. Slow enough to where you just get rid of it (at least the case is that with myself)
Hello! I am finally a new happy owner of a Galaxy Note!
Its not perfect, I think the Dell Streak was easier to use (very hard to hold it in left hand and NOT press Power, Volume Up/Down buttons).
Anyway - I have much more serious problem:
Any outgoing SMS message in hebrew, is seen as question marks by the recipient (even using another Android phone as well).
Only clue that I have is, when I finish typing the message and click on Send, I get Warning (Attention) as follows: "Message may be corrupted on recipient device. Change input mode to automatic"
I am not sure what this mean?
My other problem, is that no other keyboard (like Anysoftkeyboard, or Swype), seem to allow language swapping using the Spacebar - which I found very comfortable (and swype not supporting hebrew at all) - so I must find a way to incorporate Hebrew into the Samsung Keyboard please.
Another potential issue, is that I feel the Stylus might not be functioning correctlly - it requires more pressure than I am used to, with my Dell Latitude XT2, which I use to write all lectures and practice at uni - perhaps something is wrong with my pen? or is it right that I have to apply what I would define as "moderate" pressure for it to even register on the Note taker?
ok, I solved my own problem for SMS:
When in Messaging center, click Menu, then Settings and go to Input Mode - change it to Automatic.
Hope it helps others who search for this dumb default setting on GSM alphabet (why??)
Still having the problem with Hebrew for the Samsung keyboard to switch using Spacebar

I am using AnySoftKeyboard, with added Hebrew keyboard addon.
It works fine, keys are displayed correctly out of the box Samsung ROM.
that is so weird because I have also used anysoftkeyboard and the Hebrew addon but the characters are not displayed correctly at all.
Although I have the Arabic rom installed which has RTL support
very weird
hmm, mine does not have Arabic option.
Is there any chance the distributor in your country decided on his own to make Hebrew intentionally not work on their ROM? (unlikely, but not unimaginable...)
Your alternative is to reflash the ROM to one Euro version.
Go settings-->Application-->All-->Messaging-->Clear Data
Hope this helps.
I need to add Portuguese language to the Note II T889. I know the Note II N7100 has it on it. How can this be done? Anyone? There has to be a way to import the Portuguese Language if the N7100 has it on it??!!??
First of all forgive me for being an annoying noob I am, but I've been googleing this matter for 3 days with no luck.
So here is the deal: I've purchased a Chinese (I think) GTab (meaning the default locale was Chinese) here in Russia. There was no problem in switching locale to Russian, all fonts work correctly, all translations are good and so on. The problem is, Samsung keyboard doesn't have a Russian language as an option (despite having a bunch of others), and I would love to use a keyboard dock, which only agrees to work with SK. The interesting thing is, the keyboard dock does have a Russian layout, so I have to presume there is actually a way to install it to Samsung keyboard app.
Can anyone spare any advice?
The best I've managed to find so far was a similar topic for the original Tab, but it only applies to android 2.1 and 2.2 as far as I figured (I did try before assuming)
maybe you should try and contact kallt_kaffe.

he develops an app for non US bluetooth keyboards. he is very active in this forum especially in his CM9 Rom thread.
check the app here:

Hi guys,
On an AOKP rom in Settings > Language & input > Android keyboard settings > Add-on dictionaries.
I can choose to install a Dutch dictionary. It downloads something, and says "installed".
However it doesn't do anything, the keyboard only auto-corrects words found in my contacts, so there is probably no, or an empty dictionary downloaded.
The pre-installed English dictionary works fine.
I really like the way auto-correction works on ICS, with the red underline to correct a word.
I'm using ICS keyboard from the market at the moment.
But I would really like to use the stock/built-in keyboard in my own language, because of the correction method.
Does anybody know a fix?
Does it work for Galaxy Nexus in dutch? Maybe we could port something.
Does anyone know where the dictionaries are downloaded from?
Where are they installed and what kind of file is it?
I really hope someone could give me some insight. I've Googled a bit and couldn't find anything.
Cheers,
Daan
edit:
Okay, I installed a stock Galaxy Nexus LatinIME.apk, works fine for now.
I should notice though that the spelling-checker does not work in dutch.
Auto-correct and spelling-check are two different things.
The first corrects mistakes while typing, the second underlines a mistyped word in red. So you can choose to correct it by clicking on it.
Spell-checker supports English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Greek.
Auto-correct supports a lot of languages.
