Yes, but if you change to a different ROM having the stock ROM is essential so you will be able to go back to stock. Google posted it before but pulled it for a while for some unknown reason. But it is back now so no worries.

I haven't seen anybody mention this, so ignore me if this is common knowledge. I was on my stock 4.2 rooted ROM with CWM recovery and I got the 4.2.1 system update. Attempted it with CWM... And it worked. But not only did it work, after I choose reboot phone, CWM warned me that the ROM I just installed might try to flash stock recovery, and asked if I'd like to fix it. It then warned that I might lose root, again asking if I'd like to fix it. So now I'm on 4.2.1. Through system update. Kept CWM and root. Awesome!

this is interesting I didn't know it did this at all.. wonder if TWRP does a similar thing then?
It works...
Can confirm I flashed through CWM, rooted and on Stock 4.2
CWM warns of the stock ROM flashing stock recovery and also of possibly losing root'n'toot
What fun, flashing for dummies (me) made easier!
I noticed there wasn't any stock, rooted and deodexed android 4.2.1 for the nexus 4 so I thought I share the one I created for myself.
Features:
Rooted
Deodexed
Zipaligned
Insecure boot
Busybox
Download:
mako_4.2.1_Deodexed.zip - 300.80 MB
just to clarify, this is a simple flash through CWM/TWRP right?

No you won't. The official updates are patches that need to be installed through unmodded firmware. It's very easy to go back using this kit if need be. Also, I'm sure myself or another member would have a pre-rooted version of the update pretty quickly after it's release so it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

I love my stock rooted rom the way it is, I just want it deodexed. Could I just flash this over it? Or do you think that'll cause me issues without a wipe? I'll probably just end up backing up and giving it a go. Haha.

Just clear cache/dalvik. odex files are on the system partition and do get cleared when installing a new rom.
I love you and i love that this ROM did not wipe the phone
I was running stock+root, updated no issues
When i flash this will it be the same as getting the ota except for the fact that this one is deodexed? Also this has all the fixes the ota has correct??

Yes this is the same as OTA just deodexed and is rooted with busybox.
ONLY FLASH THIS IF YOU HAVE NEXUS 4
This is a 4.2.2 (JDQ39) Stock Rom made from Factory Image (Occam) released by Google on 02/14/13.
Both Deodexed and Odexed versions are available. Both of them are rooted with unsecured boot with init.d support and includes busybox.
Wipe cache/dalvik. Flash via CWM or TWRP. Your data will be preserved.
Deodexed: Link 1
Odexed: Link 1
Please don't forget to hit Thanks and give proper credit when/if you decide to use this as a base.
Cheers!

You can flash this over cm10 just make sure you wipe cache/dalvik. I would also recommend doing a factory reset.

Though you can downgrade from mi5 no problem.
The stock mi3 file is still up at the Samsung update website. I don't remember the link at the moment.

Yup I knew that was previously the case, and was pretty sure there was no workaround.
I hate when they do cap like that to the bootloader.
I'm going to take that as confirmation, as I knew back when mj4 first came out and I was maintain a Knox safe root thread. There were a few issues of people tripping Knox Even on a complete stock uprooted phone attempting to downgrade to run the Vega files.
Just hadn't looked into it since then wasn't sure someone hadn't worked around it.
Though why you would want to go back to mi3 is another question.

Just to go Security>Permission control > disable root permission
If you are using any third party root permission managers like SuperSu
Just uninstalling them would work.
