I will give you feedback on how this solution worked out for me.

That's a nice list, but it's not really the stock applications that I want to delete.
I want to get rid of the apps that start with "com.bn...", especially the ones that go on the internet for no reason.
Semi-related: where can I find the stock Calendar.apk and CalendarProvider.apk?

1. To stop "useless" wifi traffic install 'AdFree'.
2. System apps are stored in "/system/app/".
User apps are stored in "/data/app/"
appbrain[dot]com/app/adfree-android/com[dot]bigtincan[dot]android[dot]adfree
Configure it wisely. Sometimes the developers live off advertisements shown in apps.

I installed ver 0.8.44 the latest version I could find but on running it said it was out of date and I needed a newer version - so it would not work.

1. AdFree worked fine on my NST. Try earlier version for example. 0.8.31.
Maybe it tries to update itself via Google Play?
GP kicked AdFree out of their market.
I can't help you any further.
My NST currently flies to the US for its last check under warranty.
2. You can 'Disable B&N Apps' in 'NookManager'.

Try an old CyanogenMod 5 ROM like this one and extract them from the zip /system/app. CM5 roms are gettting a little hard to find these days so hang onto it in case you need other stock Android 2.1 stuff sometime.

[Q] How Do I Install an Older Google Maps System App?

i wanna install an older version of google maps, how do i go about doing this exactly? i have the apk on my phone, and i know it's a "system" app, and i have root explorer. but i tried overriding the existing maps app, and make the permissions match all the other apps, but after the reboot, the app is still the updated new maps app.
someone in irc was mentioning something about the libraries messing up? can anyone provide details on how to properly do this?

Here is what is most likely your problem. Although you replaced the version that was in system app, if the app ever updated, the updated version is in the data/app directory overriding the system app. You need to look in data/app after overriding the existing maps app and delete it. You should be good after a reboot then. Just don't let it update again.

Right, thats what i did. I got the older maps to appear, but all sorts of buggy stuff started happening, and thats when the whole "libraries" thing got brought up. Meaning the libraries dont match or something. So is there a safe way to do this without having my phone freak out?

Did you try clearing data for the app in the app manager after switching?

Easy i hate stupid new google maps i have google maps world modded =)
1. uninstalling old / new google maps
2. delete all remaining maps files
3. install Google Maps (v6.14.3) (mod + world navigation)

To clarify, how would i specifically perform step 1 and step 2? Whats the procedure you suggest to uninstall the app, since its a system app?
Also, in step 2, where are all the remaining google maps files located?

This version of maps sucks to be honest. I like the play store one way better.
Use some kind of file explorer and on root side go into system and search for maps then start deleting. Reboot phone and install new ones

step 1 . i use root uninstaller pro just google it use that to uninstall maps
step 2 . nope old maps get deleted but there found in system sd , android , data

I have been using the GMaps.saveMD_v6.14.4.rar, this was the last one before it got updated... its in my section for the Note 3.... https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=11992 this was uploaded on March 2014... it is the last version, with navigation with google maps..

1... just unzip the file...
2... use root explorer or any explorer that will let u navigate to system\app and delete googlemaps.. or gmaps.apk and copy my version, give it permission.and uninstall any updates u might have done... whenever I update my apps, I don't update googlemaps, if u accidently do, just uninstall and it will revert back to the original file..
3.. or just copy the apk file to your rom of choice, like I do, I copy it to my personal rom in the system\app, so when I install it, its there and no issues...

Remove all AOSP apps

I am wondering if someone can make a flashable zip to remove all AOSP apps like phone, contacts, calendar, calculator, mail etc. All this apps are old dinosaurs apps and I am replacing them every time when I flash ROM. Also same thing with Music FX or DSP Manager. Because I am using Viper4Android I have to remove them before I flash Viper.
I have no skill come to that but will be nice if someone can create flashable zip or aroma installer which will remove all of that. Anyone?

That still work. But I understand where you're coming from. With Google now updating most apps included in AOSP through the Play Store now the versions still in AOSP no longer get updated. What are you replacing these apps with, and is it a flashable zip you're using or a manual install?

If you install "Stock" or "Super" OpenGapps, it automatically replaces them I believe.

Yes, also with aroma open gapps I can simply replace anything I need. But, there is a catch. All this apps when they get updated in Google Play they stay where they are and new copy is installed like a duplicate. So you can uninstall update and get back to old version. That part I don't like. Why on Earth I need old app?
While apps installed from Google Play when they get updated they will be simply replaced. That is the reason why I would like to create aroma installer to remove all this apps from the system. Then I choose pico apps and everything else grab from Play Store.
I believe that make sense, right?

There appear to be duplicates because the original GAPPS package installed the AOSP version as a System App. When the app gets updated from the Play Store, the update is installed as a User App. So when you re-install/dirty install with the Stock or AROMA package, it does remove the System version, but not the Updated/User Version.
The only way around this that I know of is to not let apps update or install the desired GAPPS package from the very beginning.
There are also flashable mods that remove GAPPS, like this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/themes-apps/script-google-apps-debloater-t3446118. It works on the Nexus 6 as well, although it doesn't remove 100% of what it says it does. It's been hit-and-miss for me, but does work for the major debloat (international keyboards).

Dirty flashing instead of updating core apps is just to much to play for me. I don't have that time anymore ;(
I like to keep it simple is possible.
That script is very similar to what I am trying to do. I need same thing but with AOSP core apps plus music fx and dsp manager to be included also. That way my way of flashing will look like: flash ROM, remove AOSP core apps, flash pico open apps, flash viper, supersu... done
Now all I need to do download the rest from G play. Updating will not make any duplicates. All is clean, lean and fast

I am updating them with original Google versions from G Play.

If you really want to do this, the best way is by doing, because it's unlikely anyone is going to do it for you. Download a flashable zip from the forums, unzip it, extract the updater-script from the META-INF folder and open it. See what the script does, and then try making your changes to that script. Each app you want to delete will be on its own line in the script, and each will use either of the following commands.

In the above, folder is the app's folder, and apk refers to the app itself. The first removes individual files. The second removes entire folders.

If you can boot into OS before removing them, then you can just root your device then get a file manager that you can give root access before going into the filesystem and just deleting the apps from there.

Is deleting only APK file is enough to remove it completely from the system?

On OxygenOS Stock ROM (4.1.6) there are some apps came pre-installed that I don't use. For example Google Gmail, Hangout also OnePlus's own calculator/clock etc. I want to delete those apps and replace Gmail with Inbox. completely remove Hangout, OPCalculator and OPClock with Google's Calculator and Clock. I have deleted those apps before by manually deleting them from inside /System/App and /System/Priv-app
Now, I'm trying to write my 'own' TWRP flash-able updater script to do such action. But I am kind of confused if only deleting an APK's parent folder is enough to remove the apps completely? For example, if I only delete the folder System/App/(Deskclock) - is that enough or there will be related files remaining somewhere else?
* I know Titanium Backup or other debloat apps can perform similar task, but the main purpose of this question is to know how can this be done manually and properly without leaving un-necessary files in the system.

However, app data and updates may still be saved in the /data partition. To make sure all of it is removed, first clear data and uninstall all updates to the system apps you with to remove from the Installed Apps list (disable it), then delete the APK either through a root explorer, or a recovery script.

1. I wonder if this is even possible inside TWRP, I mean targeting those unwanted apps, uninstalling updates+ clearing app data/disable them.. Or you are suggesting me to remove them manually from the OOS interface/settings one by one?
2. Also while in TWRP, none of those app (that I will remove) are not functional so what's the points of clearing app data/uninstalling updates? why not simply delete /system/app/(app.apk) and /data/app/(related files.)

1) If you know where the extra data/updates are stored in /data, then you could use a recovery script to delete them. It's kind of one-shot deal though, as unless you open the apps again (after re-flashing a ROM), they won't have any data saved to them the next time you want to delete them.
2) If they aren't functional, they likely won't have much app data to begin with. I would clear the app data from apps like Google Play Music or Movies (if you don't want to use them) before deleting them. Random Engineering Test Tools and unessential services won't have much data stored and can be deleted directly.

Yeah, that should be fine. just as a precaution, set your wallpaper to something that's on the device before freezing/removing.

As a word of warning, uninstalling system apps has the potential to break the system, so only uninstall the apps that you are sure of. Apps like Gmail, Google Play Music, Google Play Movies, etc., are safe to uninstall but never remove Google Play Store or any of the files associated with it

When I debloat my devices I always have a factory image unzipped ready on my PC. I always make a copy of each APK and screenshot where it's located before I kill it. A few devices I've owned in the past people have removed apps and then made a xda thread once done showing what they did, deleted... It sure helped speed up the process for me and I'm sure others who got the devices months after release. The developer who's develops xXx No Limit magisk rom for OnePlus devices is probably the best at the debloat I've ever seen. He has a script in his magisk xXx no Limit rom zip that you can edit before flashing in magisk and either delete the app, replace the app with another or leave it alone. He has detailed info on every app in the stock rom. Delete whatever you want just backit up first and know how to flash factory image and or manually boot recovery and restore a backup or whatever to get your device back working again if you end up in a boot loop.
