I got a nexus 7 for Christmas and don't even use it because of my nexus 4. I mean sure it has a bigger screen but it's slower and with the latest Paranoid Android update the screen on my nexus 4 is better as well!
I have a top of the line laptop and top of the line smartphone. Where does a dated tablet belong in this scenario? Maybe I could use it to watch Dragon Ball Z at the gym. Or load it up with porn and use it as a mobile fap station.
I think I'm just going to sell it, what do you guys think I could get for it? It's a mint 32gb wifi model.
Thanks a ton XDA!

You can't compare a phone with a tablet, but still I understand what you mean. The Nexus 7 is a value for money tablet with feature pack functionalities, but the screen is not up to par.

Why not use it for porn? Sounds fine to me. 7 inches is a usable size for anything sex-related (badum-tish)
the nexus 7 is much better for gaming(especially tegra optimized games) then the nexus 4.

dont think theres anything right now the adreno 320 can't handle. i mean come on, the unreal engine demo (epic citadel) ran on 60 fps on the N4. so it doesn't really make any difference. and the screen on the nexus 4 is significantly better than on the nexus 7.

My mate ran the spiderman man game on his nexus 7 and it lagged slightly, yet on my nexus 4 smooth as butter, yet it lags with vice city maxed out, not hard lag but in high intensity areas
But a lot of games are optimized for tegra and have added effects and graphics. I don't think he meant that it can't handle it, the nexus 4 is way more powerful. But games look better on the nexus 7.

Maybe wait for 4.2.2, because 4.2 runs like crap on Nexus 7.
I've noticed too that I'm not using my N7 much since I got the N4. For me though, it's more of a convenience thing. I kept close tabs on where the tablet was before I got the N4, but now I'm not caring as much where my wife leaves it.

However, I use n7 more than n4 at home. I love my n7.

I absolutely despised the N7. Hated the screen, headphone out sound quality, and the build quality. I bought an iPad for my tablet needs. Most of the time you get what you pay for with the Nexus 4 being an exception. It's a sweet piece of hardware that's definitely under priced.

The Adreno 320 is way faster than Tegra 3, that's not the point. Gaming is still better on a tablet than a phone. Unless you have to tilt the device a lot .

:good: and I even like it with 4.2!
I love mine too! 4.2 not so much until Devs catch up and we have Recoveries that play nice with it. It also broke ability to use USB storage devices with it. I got it from playstore when it came out. It arrived the 2nd day after. 1st thing was unlock and root. Ran stock 4.1.2 until I put on a custom 4.2 (plain vanilla )rom. I previously had Galaxy Tab 7.0+. Very expensive and I thought I was getting the best. It was OK, but my 32Gb N7 beats it six ways from Sunday in smoothness, reliability. Also the GT7 had a proprietary charge and data port/cable. It was USB but you needed a converter cable for lots of stuff. The N7 is great out of the box but awesome!! when unlocked, rooted and rom'ed. Everything just seems to work better. Movies, music, email, calendar, notes, to do's games, You name it. Now if I could just make calls on it...oh, wait, with Google (Voice?) you can I am told!
Problem with 4.2 is it messed up the sd card file partitions so that I can no longer make Nandroid back-ups. I sure it will be fixed in a few days. Meanwhile, I am enjoying the crap out of this thing.
Loved it since I bought it. Eyeing the N73G for the holidays, then the Mrs. Gets the 16.

Loving my nexus 7 as well. As a apple fanboy the nexus really has impressed me. The only thing I don't love about the nexus (android problem i guess) is that none of the browsers can compare to the Safari-browser found in the ios echo system. Sluggish scrolling, accidently clicking links when scrolling never happens to me on my ipad or iphone. Google, tweak the chrome-browser and my apple fanboy days might be over.
Hi guys. I have a Nexus S and I already posted this in the NS and N4 forums.
Now... I've been wanting a Nexus 7 ever since it was announced, but only now that I can afford one.
But now I see I've got a chance to buy a 16gb Nexus 4.
I was planning on continuing to use my Nexus S as it totally rocks running CM10.1 and using the Nexus 7 for browsing the web around the house and playing games.
If I would buy the Nexus 4 I would obviously not afford the Nexus 7 for a while. But the Nexus 4 is such a sexy piece of hardware and it has a much better camera than the Nexus S and I've got a baby on the way and I would love to be able to take good pictures and HD videos of my little ones.
Help me decide!
Nexus 7 + Nexus S
Or
Nexus 4 only
I´ll tell you one thing that might sway your opinion a bit...
I am in Iceland... A 16gb Nexus 4 is 99.900 ISK = 775 USD. A 32gb Nexus 7 is 59.900 ISK = 465 USD.
:crying:

Well, speaking as a newer parent (22 month old daughter) in the long run you'll value your pictures far more than whatever hardware you get today. So if the phone will be your primary camera, get one with a good camera...and fast. My Evo 3D was so slow from button press to photo actually taken, I kept missing great shots...but I digress.
Those prices really suck though...makes me think there could be money being a technology mule. LOL

Then wait for the next nexus phone or the 'rumoured' X-Phone by Motorola.

Sounds like a tough pickle...if it wasn't for the pictures I would say go nexus s and nexus 7 that is about to be my combo when my nexus 7 comes in. I went with that option simply because I was tired of waiting to get a nexus 4 that and I am temporarily computerless.
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk 2
Well if you get them shipped from america and paid american prices you could get both for the price you are paying for the N4.
There are companies you can use to buy them and ship them to you.

I recommend you the 7 & nS combo.
The 7 is a dream.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
I would say you should get the Nexus 7 and keep the Nexus S. That is what I did, and I love it.
I would take the Nexus 7 cause i don't care about camera and the nexus s can do almost all things the nexus 4 can. It's just slower.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
I'm actually swaying toward the NS+N7 combo.
I'm seeing a lot of threads about issues with the N4. I'm not the type who has to have the newest gadgets so I think I might just wait until most of the issues with it have been resolved and then it might have reduced in price a bit here in Iceland.

You should definitely get the n4. Why downgrade to a 2 year phone? I bought the n7 first then a month later i got the n4. It's been great so far. I have lived the nexus 7 since launch. if you need a phone as your main camera thenget a Samsung. I bought a nexus 4 sixteengig. sold out right away and bought notetwo. battery life wasn't that Good andno ability to swap batteries. the 3100 mah battery on this bad boy means you will never . miss a photo or video opportunity due to dead battery. internal plus a 64gig external means recording lots of hd video. I was also considering a new phone, but got the 7 instead, and I'm so glad I did. Love it. Quite happy still using my galaxy s(1) for a while longer. The nexus 7 is something different than just another phone, when you already got a phone that you're still happy with.

Get the N7. The Nexus 4 to me, just isn't worth it. Too many things led me to not buying one, and I instead stuck with my Gnex. 90% of users don't even use that Snapdragon CPU. The camera isn't that great. Front and back both glass which is a big no no for me.
Trust me, the N7 is well worth it.
It seems to me that with that difference in price, you could buy the N7 and then get a decent little point and shoot (or maybe even a super zoom) camera. Keep your S for a while and save, then buy the N4 if it's still what you want.

As soon as I get my Experia Z, I will keep it for what it was bought to be, a development phone I can play with.

I still go back and forth between my Galaxy Nexus and my Nexus 4. I use the Galaxy Nexus when I'm snowboarding and for bar nights when I know things might get a little weird.
While I do still love the Galaxy Nexus, every time I pop the SIM card back into the Nexus 4 and turn it on I am instantly reminded of how much more solid the build quality and performance are on the Nexus 4. It really is an extremely noticeable difference.
For that reason I'll definitely be holding onto this phone for at least a year. At which point I'll probably get whatever the next Nexus is and use the Nexus 4 as the backup phone.

Galaxy Nexus all the way. The Nexus 4 is too fragile and not worth the hassle in my opinion. Sure it has a quad core processor and 2Gb of RAM, but honestly.. who uses that on a phone.
I would recommend the HTC One X, but seriously... After some of the stuff HTC have been doing nowadays, I struggle to recommend HTC.

I am finding N4 compliments N7 greatly. Basically you get some great raw power on both devices, but the tegra in the N7 give way for different, but complimentary usage. Tegra exclusive games run with great power, while N4 runs non tegra with even greater power.
Maybe it was a design decision so that both devices have equal usage. XD
Well screen size is also a factor. I am not so interested in watching video on the N4. Still I find myself using both devices at once a lot. N7 definitely being the couch/bed lazy movie viewing device.

Yep, a Note 2014. I use it at home and the phone on the road.
I had a 7" Acer Iconia tablet and Nokia Lumia 920. I got tired of carrying the tablet everywhere I thought I might need a tablet when the phone would not do. Lack of Android on phone of course. So I decided to get the Note 3 to replace both. Now I am happy and only have one daily carry item.. Not to mention the Note is only 1.3 inches smaller than my tablet and that I can live with. Still a huge screen compared to most phones and one of the highest resolutions out there for it's size.

It isn't certain that there will be a new 10" Nexus device in the near future. I use my Nexus 10 for video due to the size of the screen and front facing stereo speakers. Avid reader here, I have to have my 7" galaxy tab 2, note 3 can't replace it in my opinion.

I'm currently sporting a Note 3 and an iPad Mini with retina display. Maybe I should've bought the iPad Air instead. I find myself not picking up the mini that much (except for long reads like ebooks).
If I needed something bigger I'd go for my laptop or Smart TV. :good:

Great as a small laptop as long as you get the type cover. I spent about 2 hours typing up reports, and while it is not as nice as a mechanical keyboard, it works quite well. Touch and pen interface is very nice as is battery life. A bit heavy to hold for pure tablet use, but not obscenely so. If you're familiar with Windows 8 you won't have any surprises, if not it's a strange interface to get used to.
There are glitches and weirdness, but overall I find it a very productive tool.
