2.2 is old your aunts phone can be upgraded through lies to 2.3 which is much better and it should solve the missing market problem and no rooting required or use Odin to flash 2.3.6 value pack (the best and quickest option IMO)

[Q] Best firmware (froyo) to use via regedit hack for the Philippines

The title pretty much sums it up. I've been itching to get my hands on froyo for the SGS for weeks, and I'm at the point that I can't wait much longer. So, I was wondering what's the best region to use for my upgrade and what are the possible problems I may encounter such as network compatibility, drivers (or lack thereof), etc.
My phone is unbranded and not SIM-locked. Thanks in advance.
P.S. Just out of curiosity, what do you think would give me a better android experience stock 2.2 or Samsung's 2.2.
Stock 2.2. You might brick your sgs like i did my nexus one.

Thanks for the quick reply, but what I meant was, what's the best region to get Samsung's official 2.2 firmware from (i.e., Nordic countries, Hongkong or other European countries, etc), since it hasn't been released in my country yet. And is there a possibility of encountering problems with network compatibility or drivers, etc.
I think I9000DXJPA would be fine for you. I may reflash it using this since im using the JPO right now.
Got my update to Froyo a few days ago. Im in your country bro. Q.C. Use Samsung Kies. Root it with z4root. Don't lag fix it cause it causes the qwerty to freeze on my SGS.

Are you sure you can't update yet from KIES?
DXJPA is now available.
ROM wise, I prefer Doc's ROM with HardcoreK9A Kernel.
CWM ULK advance features: data = ext4; dbdata = ext4
all tweaks ON

I was wondering if maybe i could try getting a different market.apk, and i wonder if that would actually have any positive impact...well.. i tired a different market .apk (an old copy i had left...) still same error...
any help is greatly appreciated.
i do not think stock rom is 2.2, it should be 2.1-update1 ...

[Q] kies offering firmware update?

when i connect my i9000 to my pc kies shows me--> see att #1
shuld i update? or can i stay on my current fw --> see att #2
choice is yours, both firmwares are Gingerbread, i assume the one kies is offering is a more updated, bug-less version.
If you are happy with stock ROMs why not update ??
I say go for the JVH.
Might as well have fun while it lasts rite?
i suppose i will lose all of my apps... right...?
The choice is yours but yes I would let kies upgrade you to the latest version for your region. Why not?
Main points to note:
1. Kies does NOT wipe your apps or settings. But its good practice to copy rom via cwm or backup using titanium in any case.
2. It WILL remove any root and mods you've applied though.
3. Important - remove any lagfix you might have applied first
Good luck

i would say go for the kies update...
im going for the update as soon as my phone charges up
I updated but now it seems that my battery life is a bit worse... Have to do some more testing... :/

[Q] CanĀ“t install apps >30MB from market

I can't install apps in Kratos >30MB like this app:
h t t p s://market.android.com/details?id=com.iUnity.angryBots
What is wrong in OC-rom? Stock 2.3.3 works fine ...
Is it possible to fix this bug?
Best regards
diggi1
Get the matket patch

Thanks for your respond.
I think, it is not a bug in new market, new market and stock 2.3.3 works fine, but any OC-rom with market is buggy. For Apps < 30MB market worked fine and I like the new market ...
Can you confirm, that the App from my 1. post worked with the market-patch or you only suspect this...
P.S.: I have new insights: Samsung had an restriction in old firmware (30MB). In the new firmware 2.3.3. (like JPA Stock) the restriction is removed.
OC (Jupiter, Kratos) still has this limitation from old firmware. Why??? Is there a way to remove this restriction from OC firmware?

send a mail to the devs. the latest few updates really made the app a lot worse.
kinda strange though because back on stock with my 7310 it worked fine...
the app is deleted from google play.
might be the reason for your problem?
