Up.
Yes, it's normal in both software versions.

It seems to happen whether battery saving mode is On or off.
In my experience the led functionality has been hit and miss at best. I tend to use NoLED when I need to know if I've received anything and turn it off the rest of the time.
With the pitiful led the Xperia has, it really doesn't matter much if it blinks or not. Probably the worst feature of this phone.

I know they could not have made it less visible, without covering it, if they tried!!
Real shame, on my work BB I love the notification flash whilst at home (at work I have outlook to tell me).

Hi friends,
I have little question about these led buttons on the right/left side from the homebutton.
Is it possible to completely disable them, to save some battery?
I tried bln pro, but only notification options possible there.
Thx

Umm they dont really use any battery at all..
They are most probably a few miliwatts each buddy - as are most on board led's, i wouldnt worry about it, having your screen on for 5 seconds would use more power than they do in a full discharge cycle..

Very useful and works on 4X perfectly. Different kind of customization to suit your lifestyle, e.g. icon, color of led, time to turn on/off led. It saves you trouble to press the Power button to check whether there is email, SMS, missed call,..............in. case you miss the sound notifications.
What does it light up? There is no notification LED on the 4X?
Ah, now I get it, it displays a notification on the screen. How much battery does it take in comparison to the screen being off all the time?

I tried it once on my o2x, but it drained the battery, so I uninstalled it after a short while. But it was a year ago or so, it could have been optimized since

Won't let my phone deep sleep >_<
Can set the time to stop and restart, there are also other features to save battery - notification timeout, dismiss with proximity sensor (dismiss notifications when phone is in pocket or upside down), etc. I use the app for two days now and didn't notice significant battery drainage.
Recommend to give it a try.
Hey on my Xperia Z stock rom nothing flashed, when it is in standby (screen off) randomly the screen glows and does not stop, like the screen is still off but it's like the back light has come on? is this normal? seems to be a power wasting thing to me. unless i look at it from a slight angel (during the day) i can not actually tell it's on, i'm assuming this is why my screen is using 60+% of my battery is there a fix for this?
Are you using any power saving mode?

Stamina mode.
I have the exact same thing happen, and it is definitely a pain as like you say you can only notice it when looking at an angle, and as I have a flip case on mine I only notice while charging. It is just a case of pressing the power button twice to turn off but that is obviously only when you notice it's doing it! lol
I use stamina mode on mine (which is great) but not sure if this is anything to do with the backlight being left on as it only does it sometimes?
I had this issue when i first got my phone ,and not anymore. Not sure how it solved cause i did lot of factory reset and flashing firmwares.
Are you using light flow or any third party apps?

I get this too. I get it when it's locked and it comes back on. Also when I unlock the screen sometimes this happens and I have to turn the screen off and on again to fix it.
Happening here also but not often. I thought it was low battery mode but happens when it's disabled as well.

No i'm not using any third party light apps, seems like this may be an actual bug if multiple people are experiencing it
I have only done one reset/repair to fix the LED notification light bug.
Hope this helps
I know how to fix this. I have an xperia z1 so im not sure if my problem is the same but i use my phone as an alarm so i notice at night the screen is glowing while its standby. If you go to settings or maybe you have it in quick settings go to brightness and deactivate "adapt to lighting conditions" then it should be a black screen woth no glow in standby mode
Is there any way to dim the back lights on the buttons at the bottom if my phone? At night they're very glaring
[SGH-I337]
nope i think, but its done a good job glaring ur eye to take ur attention, or u can use no led mod make use amoled as notilight instead of ur hardware button led.
ps, i wonder if those two light at da bottom were red light n glaring at darknight when both lighten up, it would be creepy to see from afar herherher

I dont know how fast they can be switched on/off.
But something like PWM should be possible. (See wikipedia)
Eg. Swithing on for 2 ms and switching it off for two ms makes the led seem less bright. The eye is slow, so it doesnt see the fast on/off switching.
When eg. Switched on 1microsecond and off 10ms they should be dimmed much more.
Regards

Interesting thinking! The only reason I asked is my old moterola atrix could do it. Thank you all for your help
When i press the lock power button once and then try to press it again so i can unlock the phone , the screen gets ultra dark and i dont know why !!!!
I solved this thing by dragging down the notification bar and tweaking the brightness level but i cant constantly do this.
As for the darkness level its not like i switched off the screen brightness.
Its completly dark no backlight AT ALL!!!
i dont know why.I am using many applications that use root acces and tweak CPU and RAM functions that may intefere with the lockscreen app.

Not that thing i had that bug before but it was not annoying me
The thing here is that the phone functions as normal but with extra low brightness!
And it happens only some times .
Ill use it tomorow like this so i can figure out a patern if there is one .
