Hello,
I received my LG 4X as a present and I finally replaced my iPhone 3gs. I can't say I am all that excited so far - I've been using android in my tablet for almost a year now and I can't say the os has matured enough. Anyway, I cut to the chase.
My friend has installed something on his S3 that enables him to undervolt/underclock his device. Is there something similar for the LG 4x? Or disable cores and have them enabled on-demand?
Has anyone tried such an app/mod? Does it work well?
Thanks for your time!
if you're rooted, the best app for you is SetCPU.

Besides slowing the device down, does it actually give any battery extend results?
Re
I dont know if all was caused by the external sd card but battery improved since i got CN from dexter and Set CPU
Its not possible to undervolt our CPU since our kernel doesnt support it.

has anyone been able to overclock the CPU for the galaxy S past 1GHz??? Im sold when i found out that touchwiz can be replaced w/ ADW Launcher so i plan on gettin this phone next month.
wouldnt recomment it.. when we tried even just setting the cpu mode to on demand instead of conservative.. which doesnt even up the cpu.. search for the thread about it on here.
Don´t think is such a problem if long as you don´t heat it up.
Its easy to overclock this phone, I'm running 1.2 ghz right now with a custom rom, its a great phone and if you want to game its unbeatable in performance compared to other smart phones.

Why resurrect a question that was asked nearly 10 months ago and due to advances is not really even relevant anymore?

I have run my phone using the CM7 and Miui roms at 1.3 ghz using the bilboa or zacharius kernels and xans voltage control app (which also allows you to undervolt) with absolutely no problems. Admittedly the phone will get hot if try and play dungeon defenders whilst you are charging so don't!

CoreControl
This application will allow you to control how many cores are active on your phone!
Is your One X getting a little hot or is the battery running out a little too quick? This application attempts to solve these problems by allowing you to disable some of the processor's cores!

Will gladly appreciate the help

It's hidden inside "Power management" (or similar, don't know how it's called).

Thx guys. Found it. Didn't realize it would be there as the options for power saving are not as appealing as Samsung Galaxy S3 and Note 2 (no lowering cpu speed).
Do you happen to know any effective way to save O4X battery without compromising much of the performance? LG Gearbox and CPU Master by antutu don't seem to have any positive effects. ROM Toolbox Pro seems like another joke in this situation too.

That seems to be a good solution.. but with only 530 mAh extra battery, I dont think it'll make much difference. I just don't understand why o4x battery drains so fast..
Also, I noticed some people saying they have better battery life after updating firmware to v10H. Mine is v10e, and I believe v10h is newer and may give better battery life, but does it actually affect?

It actually does quite well I have that battery and it gives me around 18 hours where I got with the normal one around 11 12 hours if even. So there is a difference or buy one with a bigger back what I also have. I am on v10f.

I use ROM Toolbox Pro to change the CPU speed. I don't think the phone supports dual core only as it is also buggy even when using LG Gear Box. To save energy you can simply downclock it to 1 ~ 1.1Ghz and use DS battery saver to enjoy deepsleep. Also, I use "interactive" governor and feel that it gives the best balance between battery life and performance on O4X. If this phone had "pegasus" governor, I might use that one and see if it's better since it has proven to be very good on my SGN2.

hey guys i herd there is a kernel for this phone that makes the phone overlock to 1.8ghz i cant find it can anyone link the thread to me if there even is one thanks!
They were before, but it is unstable and it fried CPU's so the devs dialed them down

Well thank you good sir!
I am pretty sure you can still download some 1.8 clockable kernels, just not for 4.2.2

Why would anyone want that? It'd be better just to go ahead and run over the phone with a bus. There's a reason the OC kernels got dialed back by devs. BTW it doesn't make the phone that much faster either. If you need 1.8 another phone is the way to go.

Hey i definitely agree... my phone would bootloop if i went above 1631 mhz haha. Hey but i see your using nos. Whats your personal opinion on it, especially considering battery life?

It strictly helps with lag IMO. I just like how my apps run smoothly and I can run multiple apps without the phone crashing & rebooting. Far as battery there is no app or tweaks that will help if you use 4.2. In fact I got rid of my battery apps as they all just eat memory and do things any user with common sense can do.

so did you determine that v6 supercharger is not necessary for our phones if using the latest version of NOS? i only ask because in your sig you used to have v6, but now it's just baked bean with nos.

Thanks ill try that. But by battery life, i meant like does nos make it even worse? Or does it not affect battery life at all? And i have found greenify and juice defender to help A LOT for saving battery.

Greenify is OK but your main battery culprit is Gnow/Maps. Technically Greenify is supposed to be able to hibernate Maps but that is useless as Gnow needs it quite a bit so it gets awaken a lot. I love Gnow and choose to live with that as I use mass transit and those features are needed. However if you don't, then disable Maps and that will increase your battery somewhat.
Far as Juice Defender and the like, they are a joke IMHO. I used Juice Defender for over a year (they haven't updated the app on over a year either) and just like a lot of them you only save battery if you let it disable data and Wifi when not in use. I don't really care for that and can turn those on and off at will myself. Trust me you will see these battery apps are all smoke & mirrors.
Far as NOS consumption of battery, seems to have no effect one way or another.
