Hey guys, do not flash the OTA update manually with CWM, it bricked my tab an will most likely brick yours too.
Make sure your tab is stock 3.0.1 and wait patiently.

Tbh it's not such a crazy thing to think that the OTA was ok to flash with CWM.on the galaxy nexus that was fine to do.

Just wondering if anyone has had any success in unbricking their tab yet. I was reading through old forum posts and there was a thread where fricorico had flashed a transformer rom and couldn't load fastboot or download mode. He said that he managed to get his tab into apx mode and could then eventually get the tab back up and running.
I can't post a link because I'm on the xda app but our forum isn't too big to find it and try. Also, not sure what or how to get into apx mode though so this post may be literally useless to most people. But maybe someone knowledgeable will remember something as a result.

You want to root or use custom rom?
If just to have root access, you can try with enoxy abuse 1.4. If you want to flash rom then you need to flash philz kernel and flash your desired rom. You could check up wotj chain fire's guide or Dr.ketam. They are both great contributer

What is the used of custom rom?
some custom rom can tune your phone make it faster than stock. Eg. you can overclock or underclock your processor. Change your screen default dpi to lower resolution, customize your own theme, changing your system cache files to make your phone response faster and etc....
Root access is actually administrator mode for linux and andriod.

Hey , Chill out buddy. Dagger is right, when you sign to xda you are presented the rules which you have to follow. Being a noob does not excuse him from using the search engine or going through the stickies. Forums need to be clean from flooding the same question in multiple threads. Besides, you are reading his question but not answering or guiding him....so, I guess you are not helping either.
Nobody is saying that the question is not fine, but saying that just a little research would have answered that. There is a whole thread in the development forum called How to root/unroot by Dr. Ketan's that is amanzingly thorough...it is as easy as reading that.

Cole hii, the build version determines what kernel you need to flash. As you are on Stock ICS 4.0.4 with DXLR5 build version, the Philz kernel you need to flash is this one: http://www.mediafire.com/?c2jmfqnwajw8ei1
This will give you safe kernel (to avoid brick bug), CWM recovery and Root access.
You have to flash the file this way (this video might help but is in spanish http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9EPWIvIoEF8):
Download the kernel signed .zip file and put it in your external sdcard
Boot in stock recovery (press home + volume up + power and keep them pressed until you see the splash screen)
In the blue recovery menu, select install update from external storage and install the kernel file
reboot and you are done
Custom roms are all different and have their own instructions on how to flash them. So the best is to read what the dev of that particular rom tell you to do. In all roms you flash you will need to do a full wipe (wipe data/factory reset + wipe cache partition) and some other will require to format some partitions, that is why is so important to be on a safe kernel.
Hope it helps. :good:
OK..the post above me is quite good..if u want more detailed one..pm me

It should be detecting both gt-p7500 and p7500 as the p4 now. Give it a go.
I installed CWM 5.xx on my P4 (GT P7500) via Odin and since then I have flashed and updated through the successive updates until the current one 6.0.3.0. I have never had a problem with it, not once did Odin failed me. Furthermore, it is not a requisite that you must install Rom Manager before you can install CWM Recovery. I do not have Rom Manager installed on my device. If Rom Manager is not working for you, why don't you spend a little time to master the use of Odin, you will save yourself a ton of trouble, stress and time.

It's not a big brother, I'm right now trying to get slim again.
I got used to look into older postings of a member when he asks a question. Sometimes you'll get the necessary details from his older posts.
Example: why searching for a mistake in a Rom when someone whines about freezes when a post before he wrote that he OC'ed his Kernel to 1600?
But in this case I acted like a BB after seeing the repeated orgy: it was even fun to answer him with his own history.
By the way: he got the Dr. Ketan link already in 2012...
Clearly I'm asking these questions again because I didn't have any success rooting the 1st time round.
As for orgies?!? Maybe opening the door and breathing some air would help remind you there's a big world outside with lots going on.
I was looking for some help delivered to me in a beginner's language I understand, not grandiose frustration that I had the idiocy to ask the same questions

Since April 2012 members gave you the links to the tutorials all members used here. Most of them were beginners.
And if you didn't understand it after one year of trying you should consider not trying to root your device at all.
You might end in a bricked one.
For the record, I haven't been trying for a year, I tried twice.......(once managed to root but had problems afterwards, once, stopped trying as it became frustrating)
Maybe you should stop acting out your insecurities about yourself in a faceless blog and find peace with who you are

Look, in order to beeing able to help you it would be nice to tell us what rom you have got on your Note.
Starting with ICS (4.0.4) rooting is very simple. Just take a look in the settings what rom you have got and then head over to the PhilZ kernel thread in Original development. There you will find rooted kernels for all stock (Original) ICS or above roms. Dowmload the one matching your rom (choose the .zip version, not .tar). Then boot into stock recovery (press volume up, home and power buttons simultaneously) and flash the kernel. Bang, you got root. Not really difficult. What the hell have you been doing? I guess until today you have not really bothered reading the tutorials and threads. Because everything is explained there and all of us had start too by reading a lot. Good luck.

You can get your hands on some of the custom ROMs, and flash them. But be sure to carefully read the thread of the ROM like what recovery is safe to flash it,etc. Also remember to wipe data, factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache before you flash a ROM. Enjoy!

Glad you finally made it. See, rooting your phone using PhilZ kernel is really simple. If only you had bothered earlier to read through the PhilZ kernel thread

Or u may visit my thread where i hav review quite a good no. Of Roms...

Further after rooting the fone and installing CWM u may opt to increase internal memory rather than installin a new ROM. Visit this link

And follow the steps in the 1st post or the 2nd last post...

Cant even install any roms, comes up aborted, same as when I try and install cwm, what am I doing wrong?
Visit the general forum and the Android Development Forum of Ace. U'll get exact instructions on CWM and other type of Recovries also, like Px Recovery which r all equally good.
