Is this a bug or a hardware fault? No apps, just plain ICS stock rom stock kernel stock everything, doesn't seem to be able to be charged while turned on, always uses more battery than AC can supply even without wifi, blue tooth, etc. Etc.

Try plugging it in without the battery, if nothing happens, your phone needs to get repaired.

Shows mtp initialization then mtp connected. And the battery shows an x it does seem to charge when shutdown. But never shows fully charged. Anyone have this problem? And sorry if you can't see the x I tried. It shows the same in an original dock and straight connected to usb in computer and charger.

Doesn't support USB charging... only using original charger from a wall outlet.
Kernel modifications can enable USB charging but idk how to do it.

That's what I'm using. The little cube that came with it and the black charger. Any other ideas? What kernels can I use? The part numbers are interesting on this thing.not the same as the p7500 etc..

It shouldn't show mtp when you wall charge.

Any update on this? I'm having the same problem, stock kernal. Don't really want to start flashing things.
sammobile.com has your firmware.
something with the tab or the charger is making it think that it is plugged into the usb and not the wall charger, and since USB charging is disabled in the kernel, you are out of luck there.
Im having this issue on i957 on latest Rogers rom. Using a generic cable as my used tab didnt come with stock one. It doesnt indicate its charging but it does verrrry slowly.
Simple answer is likely to get a stock cable but im just waiting for my 7.7 to get here and ill try that stock cable.
Wonder if this app would work. USE AT OWN RISK. Will probably only work on the i957.

Im pretty sure my issue is a combo of something i installed and removed/still have or the fact none of my wall plugs for the generic usb cable put out more than 1.0A. I say it could be something i installed or an issue with the rom because when i hold the power button a few short seconds i get no power menu but it restarts.
May try that app tomorrow though so thanks for that. Really just wasting time since ill have to wipe everything to start fresh for cm10.
my phone is very slow charging.
How about your devices?

Depends on the ROM. GB stock charge in my opinion faster then ICS ROMS. But at night it doesnt matters, i'll be recharging myself. So i cant use my phone
But my is like 10% charge in one hour (while using phone, surfing)

Using ur phone while charging will slow it down. Cuz ur using power while its recharging..
But ICS roms rechaging slower:silly:
I understand that but i think that is also too slow evan if I using phone.

If u have any but not stock kernel u will have some options in kernel config about fast charge on/off
Try to look at..
Or mabye on a custom rom u will have an app that will can set it...
check battery usage in settings, maybe an app is eating up your battery
Are you using a wall charger or usb?
If the second, try a kernel with fast charge.

Hello everyone.
I just received my xperia z and started to use it on the 4.1.2 JB version, surprisingly the battery was reasonable.
I was hesistant on upgrading it to 4.2.2 as the feeling of battery issues, I looked up the update and I didn't find anything with battery drain due to 4.2.2 so I updated it. Though now my battery does go much faster compared too 4.1.2
Does anyone else have this issue and personal experiences on how or if it got better after a while?
Thanks,
JJon

Let phone discharge until it dies, then charge to 100% with phone off, then boot up and charge 1 additional hour. So battery levels will get proper calculations.
You are on non de-bloated stock right?
Sent from my C6603 using xda app-developers app
Yes the 4.2.2 is completely stock no root etc. The phone just came out of the box 2 days ago. So ill let it fully discharge and then fully charge it up so the battery can read correctly

I find my battery lasts a little better on 4.2.2 than it did before. Only marginally but it's a start. I now use a Powerbank Case just as insurance when I'm out on site with work. But I often do get two days use out of it

If this doesn't fix your battery drain problem, rooting, deodexing of ROM and de-bloating (+ perhaps some deep system tweaking..) of bloatware will fix it.

No a full RUU (rom update utility) it completely erases the device and re-partitions it
I'm not rooted or anything so can I still do that ,if so how do I go about it please

Yes you can, it's really the only thing you can do while the phone is out of the box stock.
But it depends if there is an RUU suitable for your device. Since you say your on the latest there may not be.
Do you have Android tools on your pc? If I asked you to post a fastboot getvar all, do you know how to do that?
It may not even be an issue with the battery, have you tried a battery monitor app like Gsam? Maybe it can identify what's causing the drain
