[Q] [q] help me install cm 10.1 - LG Optimus 4X HD

Hi, im new at this stuff, my mobile is rooted, took me ages because i was using dodgy advice. I need some proper step by step guides to how to flash my lg p880 to cm10 (jelly bean) because im useless,
ive downloaded cm-10.1-20130211-EternityProject-x3 zip AND gapps-jb-20121212-signed zip they're on my desktop and on my EXT SD card and Internal SD card.
The bit im struggling with apart from all, is how to flash? what to use? is there a special rootl app that does it?tried looking for a video to help me but no joy...any help would be great, i must be doing something easy wrong.

Odp: [Q] [q] help me install cm 10.1

Why do you use CWM Rom Manager. Have you installed CWM Recovery per below.

Yeah sorry got that on my phone as zip, only just installed that, i need to start following the instructions proper. So i can use that to install cm10 from my phone. I'll give it a try
thanks.

I try to install the cm-10.1-20130211-EternityProject-x3 zip using the lg 4x recovery app. I install it from ext sd card but says installation abborted?? GAPPS says it installs ok doing it that way but when i reboot in stays on LG screen and says Security error??
i've reflashed my phone back to normal v10h, going to root it again but dont want to keep doing this,,,not sure what im doing wrong? am i using the wrong cm10???

Again you need to install this via CWM recovery. And if sd card is not working try copying the files to phone memory as well. It may work.
Do it properly. Dont get into bricking your phone. Instructions are clear.

Ive finally got cm10 installed and working successfully on my mobile. I downloaded the cm10 zip from their site directly onto my mobile and followed all their instructions. My first zip i downloaded from their must of been dodgy?

Problem installing any zip from recovery

Hello,
I have a galaxy ace S5830 phone. I wanted to install ICS 4.0 on it. The phone is rooted and runs 2.3.4.
When I try to install any zip file from recovery it gives an error saying "E: Can't open /tmp/sideload/package.zip (bad)".
I just cannot install any zip file.
The phone has android recovery 3e.
I formatted the OS (factory reset) but it didnt change anything. Formatted SD card too but no use.
What is the possible reason behind this error?
Any solution is highly appreciated.
flash cwm.

flash this recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=743333&d=1318051346, and then install zip
but be carefully u must have s5830 not s5830i or others.

The log you posted states that the zip file is corrupted...have you tried to redownload cwm and flash it again? It's impossible that you are able to flash the zip for root but not cwm...it must be the zip's problem...

Well, I tried with different zip files of CWM. It is not working. The zip files are not corrupt since I tried them on my friend's ace and they worked fine.
I did not flash for root. I rooted through superoneclick since the flash was not working.
Also the error given is not for my zip file. It is for some package.zip (I dont knw what is this zip file neither do i knw its location tmp/sideload)
Different zip files of cwm?where you get that many? Try to refer to this thread:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12874680...install the cwm from there...and if it is still not working, reflash a new firmware (2.3.6 for most countries) via ODIN and try again...
And one more thing, in stock recovery, you must select install zip from external storage (or something like that), not from cache...you will be brought to your sd card to select the relevant zip file...

With due respect Sir, Different zips means CWM zips from different download sources.
I tried it with 2.3.3, 2.3.4, 2.3.6 (installed them via ODIN). But seems that firmware doesnt make any difference to the recovery. Keeps on giving the same error.
Thanks for the link above..let me try that out.

I am flashing from SD card only.
But, its not working, I need a method to install CWM without flashing. Since, I already have a root, is there any software that can do that?
P.S Tried ROM manager free version. It asked for premium version. Tried cracked premium version, while installation it says "Application not installed".

[Q] Can't restart after installing Cyanogenmod 10

Hello everyone,
I downloaded CM10 alpha 5 from ivendor and put it on my internal sd card.
In the post it said flash the update.zip and gapps.zip files, but I only had the whole cm10 zip file.
I installed that but it didn't work and now I'm stuck in the clockworkmod.
I think I didn't read well enough, so can you tell me what I did wrong?
I guess I should try another ROM, but is it even possible to put one on your sd card when the phone doesn't start?
Thanks alot,
Bob
You made a backup before you flashed it?
If you did, restore it and reboot your phone, i think you did something wrong, if you downloaded the good file you just flash update it and it will reboot normally, be sure its a .Zip file
Sent From My Rooted Samsung Galaxy S2 JB 4.1.2 (GT-I9100)
So for some reason, some phones naturally bootloop in recovery when trying to install CM10.
Did it say installing, then stop, reboot and bootloop in recovery?
If it did, DO NOT PANIC. Everything is fine. Sometimes the phone needs to do that to install an updated recovery. If that did happen, just take out the battery and reinsert it, reboot into recovery. Flash the same CM10 again, then Gapps.
But just as a failsafe, if you want to flash back to 2.3.6 (I'm sorry, I don't know what it is for the I9001) through odin with dbsdata.rfs (due to data partition differences between stock and CM10). Just in case you want to start completely over.

hi it say to flash the "update.zip", do u think u should of flashed the cm10 file u downloaded instead?
i am only new to experimenting with my phone myself and nearly made that mistake. have u got any further with this problem anyway?
you Just have to do a wipe factory / flash upgrade.zip / flash gapps / reboot
if you do a wipe factory, you will lose your data. but this is a safe method to move from a old rom to a new one

Instead of odin, try to flash the TWRP zip version through CWM and see if that gets you anywhere.

In TWRP, if you click advanced/ filemanager/ emmc folder, can you see your internal storage? There is also fix permissions under advanced. You could try that too if nothing else is working.

Keep in mind that the included recoveries in that tool kit are outdated and therefore won't be able of flashing KitKat ROMs. If you plan on using it, you must download the latest recovery you want to use yourself and replace it in the tool's sources.

The newest CWM is 6.0.4.9. My suggestion would be to delete LGFreedom folder off your SD Card and re-run the FreedomFlex app again as it will then download the latest CWM and you can just flash the recovery again. I had the same issue with 6.0.4.8
Problem is I can't get anything accept CWM, and I can't mount internal card, LG driver is already installed, and I tried to reinstall it, but he is still not seeing it. Any idea how to access it? If I have to have old Sprint ROM to install FreedomFlex again, I need somehow to transfer it to the internal memory and start the installation from there.

I don't quite get what the problem is.... Are you stuck in CWM or can you boot into the rom?
If you're stuck in CWM and don't have a backup or any other rom to flash (why?), you can always sideload a rom using adb (if you are stuck in a CWM bootloop look here for help http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2744482)
If you can boot back into the rom, follow my previous reply....
The only other option is to flash back to stock by following the tutorial here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2644083

Can't boot back to the ROM, I have stock ROM downloaded on hard drive, but I thought if I make a mistake, I would easily copy it to internal memory, and install it from there. Problem is that I cant, adb devices is showing nothing, so I can't use shell to copy ROM.

Well it looks like the only option is to go back to stock from the link I posted and start again, but make sure you've got everything on your phone you need before trying anything... Also trust me CM11 isn't worth bothering with just yet as there is a lot of issues with it, but I'm sure it will get there as PlayfulGod is working on it

Tnx for help, but I spent 4 hours trying to solve why I can't reach internal memory. At the end, LG drivers weren't working, so I pushed manually to set it as ADB port , and finally found the phone through adb devices command. After that, returning stock was easy. Now, I'm on CM11, thanx on those links, combining with one more thread and the problem is solved.
