[Q] - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have Galaxy I 9000 and I am having some issues with it. I rooted my Galaxy to CM10 and usually it works fine, but once in while for some reason it seems like the screen is getting pressed on the bottom of the screen - if I have app. in the bottom of the screen it gets open automatically and continuously pressed inside the app. If I press on the home button then the touch is not working at all and the only way to stop this is to press on the right side button (menu button) which close the screen and press it again to reopen it (or reboot).
I tried to understand why it happens and thought that it might be related to the CM10 - so I replaced it with CM9 and had the same issue. Also tried Slim ver. but had the same issue so I guess it is something to do with the mobile it self.
As I wrote it doesn’t happen all the time but it does happen very often.
Any one has any suggestion on how to fix this bug ?
Thanks

As this is happening with all roms you are installing, this is not a bug of the rom. You should flash the stock rom and see if the problem occurs there.. if it doesn't flash the custom rom and check...
if the problem persists in stock rom too then get your mobile checked at a service center.

Problem with phone on standby

So I Wiped Then Flashed from CyangenMod 3.6.8.1 to 3.9.7 And went fast and smooth boot slow but expected due to flash .... apps still fully functioned except for power manager full it was force closed at start so uninstalled app and re-installed app ran perfectly fine..... all other process that I had done seem to be working flawlessly ....my main issue as of this moment is something I havent seen before....its when my phone is on standby at this point if my phone is closed and I hit home or menu my screen does not turn on but I can here my selections and my buttons light up so I have to slide my phone open then place it back into standby using power button to then hit home or menu so that my screen turns on .... this is the same to turn on phone if its closed screen is just a black light screen so it must be slid open to see anything on the screen such as the T-mobile G1 bootloader etc.......
anyone know what maybe the problem here?
I can provide a device log to anyone that maybe able to assit me
bump so no one has anyclue as to away to attempt to fix this issue? The problem is that the screen only comes on if I slide the phone open but when slid closed hiting menu or home the display does not come on but you can tell that the phone thinks its on due to the fact and can here my desktop shortcuts click as if I was switching from 1 to another ......... anyone?

N1: Screen issues (Stops working)

Hello,
I was wondering if there is some way to track what is happening on my phone? Since my screen stops working when waked up from standby. i.e. if i press the button at the top to standby and then when i press it again and reach the lock screen the touchscreen is not working, it is simply not registering touch and neither are the 4 small buttons on the bottom (back, settings, home, search). However, the OS in itself is still running as I think since I can still see the time move and if I hold the off button the menu comes up for reboot etc.
Anyone heard of anything like this or any tips how to solve this? I am rooted and running CM6 I think at the moment.
Thank you,
Svarto

so the only way to escape this is by pulling the battery and rebooting? when you do reboot and dont go in standby, the touchscreen works fine?
You can check the issue using logcat and /proc/kmsg.
Also, you can read my threads on the subject, describing the same error with logs, and see if your logs are the same.
I'm currently trying to check if the error repeats itself after full wipe and starting from scratch. In the meantime it didn't show up until I applied a theme, and then after reflashing the ROM it's gone again - I'm still checking, only a day has passed.
Yes, the only solution is to pull out the battery and reboot. Then it works fine and I can go in and out of standby. I havent found a particular pattern to it happening so it is hard to reproduce.
I will have a look at that logcat and your other thread!
Just to guide you - when it happens to me, the phone gets stuck with mmc0 access that receives "CRC error" reply and doesn't go through. Pressing power button for a long time several times and playing with trackball / touching the screen between presses "releases" the "lock", and you'll be able to work with the phone again until you put it to sleep again. If you turn WiFi and BT off and then back on - the problem seems to disappear.

[Q] Lockscreen problem

Hello @all,
much times, when i active the mobile by pressing the power button or home button, it shows the lockscreen, but when I press the button to unlock (e.g. ics) it wont recognize my finger. I can press on the whole screen. It seems like the screen does not detect my finger. when i switch of and then switch on the phone again ( just screen of / on ) it may work, but sometimes i have to repeat this procedure. Im getting quite angry with my SGS as I can not unlock it how i want.
Anybody ideas. This problem also appeared with miui...
kind regards

If youre using an older version of ics builds it was a common problem but upgrading to latest it will disapear. If youre using other rom, i don't know but on those based on GB i never encounter that problem.
When you are on ICS try flashing another kernel (like derTeufel or semaphore). This solved the problem for me.

[Q] Problems with buttons home and back

Hi, i've got a problem with the Home and Back buttons. Sometimes when i double-click the home button becomes locked and i have to lock and turn on the screen for it to work
Is this problem normal? I've got a screensave and i don't know if that can cause it
thanks

Take a look at what you installed prior to issue showing up, if it was the screensaver then remove the screensaver to see if the issue goes away. If it did then it is your cause, if not what else did you do the phone. Don't forget to reboot the phone after each step to clear out any caches or residual programs.

And those buttons are working normally when you turn on your phone (and the screen is on, too)? Can you go to home with home button or lock the device with power buttton?
Maybe just a hardware issue?
buttons
when i power on phone i can use every button normally until i block it :/
This sounds like really random issue, may be a hardware one. If reflashing stock rom trough odin didn't help, then you probably should give your phone to service
