Similar to my thread based around CM 6.1 progress and reports on the latest nightlies, I present what should become a telling collection of anecdotal evidence.
Ruby 1.1.4 was released and many users are very satisfied with its performance. As 1.1.1 now appears old hat, and its original thread is waning and reads like War and Peace, please refer to this post for future observations. What I would like to see is:
1. Bugs encountered that are repeatable only after a full wipe
2. Glowing reviews and/or recommendations for bits some users are unfamiliar with
3. Odd errors that perhaps we can assist with (ie. known fix)
4. Chatter about the upcoming release of Ruby 1.2 for the Inc
I look forward to any and all suggestions, input, feedback, and all around camradery. Also, keep the flames to yourself

Well, thanks for the opportunity...
I have been using Ruby 1.1.4 as my daily driver for the past two weeks or so and find it to be perfect for my use. Although I have strayed to check out the latest and greatest, HD, Z, Feather, etc. I always come back to Ruby.
Everything works. I've added the popular mods, i.e. signal fix, etc., removed some apps that I don't like or use and I'm really happy with Ruby overall. Looking forward to 1.2.
Can't say the same for some of the vanilla apps like mail and gallery, but there are suitable replacements for those available via the market.
My thanks to the Ruby crew...

Seems the gapps link is down.
Is this a full build or just an update to 1.1.1?

Yea it's down, teamdouche doesn't have any gapps listed at the moment. A quick search I found a mirror but have not confirmed this is the same thing. Use if you like, otherwise wait for someone to provide a mirror.

Full build. Running stable so far, no noted issues.
I've been running 1.1.4 for a couple of days. I don't use Bluetooth very often, so I've only installed the RIL patch. Together with ADW Launcher I'm very happy with this ROM.
The only bug (or missing feature) I found is in regards to the Pattern lock. When I enable it, the unlock screen no longer shows up so I can't use the music controls. However, if I enable the PIN-base lock the unlock screen works just fine. In all Sense ROMs whenver I enable the Pattern lock the unlock (tabular) screen does not go away. I filed a bug at CC ROM's website. This seems like something trivial, so hopefully they'll get it in in the next release.
EDIT: You might want to add to the OP the url link for the RIL update, I've been using it and haven't experience any 3g issues.

Ruby 1.1.4 still says it's 1.1.1 in my about screen.

As far as I know, it's less of a missing feature than a feature in itself. CM, ShadowROM, all the AOSPs I've tried have that "feature."
However, I too am annoyed by it xD But it seems intentional.
Where can I find the RIL patch?

Been running ruby 1.1.4 with adrynalyne's battery_aosp kernel for the past week. No problems. Tried kingz aosp #2 kernel but it wasn't as stable. UV, no OC.

Nice to see my patch is still doing something for you guys. I wonder if they will ever release an official version again.
I almost feel like pulling down the code and compiling a version with the fixes in it...
Can we use the Gapps zip from 1. 1. 1....
How is GPS working in this version? I don't know if it was the RIL or 1.1.1 but I noticed that the cell triangulation (ie. the blue circle that pops up when you first open maps) broke somewhere along the way. Pinpointing GPS would work but it was very slow (takes at least a minute or more).
At first I didn't mind the wait but I realized it caused a lot of apps that require your location (Poynt, Where, etc.) to stop working.
Odd thing is on a clean install GPS pinpointing would always be almost instant but subsequent to that it would get slower and slower. Curious if anyone else is encountering the same.
I have three questions about 1.1.4:
Does EMMC work on Ruby? I mean like in gallery and music. Itt works on Cyanogen but now Shadowrom or inc does. Thats the biggest determining factor of my using Ruby.
is it possible to get the black vanilla messenger from Cyanogen?
Also, the black bar theme that Ruby has, gives you the HTC battery icon, however I prefer the vanilla android battery. Is it possible to make a theme from the changes I made in Cyanogen?
Also if you want EMMC to mount on windows, this fix was posted I dont know if it works on ruby, if you're brave you can give it a try:

Ok. So im a little confused on the bluetooth issue. Is there a link to the fix or no?

I would suggest using the one posted in the 1.1.4 download link. The op in that link also suggested to use only 1.1.4 themes...meaning that if the 1.1.1 you were using has not been ported over to 1.1.4 don't try to install it.

I've had the 1.1.4 (clean install) for 4-5 days, so hard to tell, but on Tuesday I used the GPS with Maps for about an hour and it worked great. I'll report in a few weeks if I ever use the GPS again.

EMMC works on Ruby. However, it seems that you can only mounted on a Mac, not on a PC. I connected the phone to my PC at work and it only recoginized the SD card. However, when I connected it to my Macbook it detected both EMMC and SD card.
By "black vanilla messager" you are referring to the Text Messaging app or the Google Talk? If you are talking about text messaging, there is a setting that allows you to change the background to black. In regards to the themes, I would suggest you stick with the themes made for 1.1.4 (as in the download link). If you want specific changes to the them the OP suggested contacting the created of the specif theme you are interested in.

Okay thank you, for the info. Is Ruby more stable then Cyanogens stable release?
Hi All,
I wanted to learn how to build an AOSP ROM for my Droid Incredible (original version), and I was finally able to get a working build today (i've been at it for more than a month on and off when I have time).
I downloaded gingerbread-release and used the CM overlay to get the vendor-specific stuff. The proprietary files were pulled from my working OMGB phone (which I understand borrows a lot from cyanogen; well-- the kernel at least).
My problem is that (1) I can't get any audio to play, (2) any time I try to play a video (like Youtube) I get a force close, and (3) the camera wont work.
I'm pretty sure (3) is a totally different problem, as I've seen lots of ROMs where the camera won't work.
Does anyone have any point that I could start on this? I've posted my logcat here: pastebin.com/GPqpD8N3
(sorry-- I'm not allowed to post links yet.)
I googled it but I'm having trouble finding anything pertinent.
Thanks in advance for any assistance you anyone can provide!!
EDIT: By the way, since this post I have changed my setup. All of my proprietary modules are from the CM nightly build now, instead of having modules from OMGB and and overlay from CM. I did this to make it more consistent in case I run in to any more problems.
Sorry -- additional detail that I meant to add in the post (but it won't let me re-edit for 5 minutes):
The bottom of the log shows me trying to play a song in the music player. From what I can tell, /system/bin/mediaserver is crashing and performing a stack dump; however I don't know why or how I can fix it.
It will not play any ringtones either, but the DTMF tones *do* sound when you press on the digits, and the phone/speakerphone work fine as well.
I just figured it out myself... in the logcat there is the line:
frameworks/base/media/libstagefright/omx/OMXMaster.cpp:90 err != OMX_ErrorNoMore
if you go to that file, in line 90:
CHECK_EQ(err, OMX_ErrorNoMore);
I just commented it out and sound works fine.
Now if I can get the camera working... any ideas?
Hmm I know the bugglas beast nightly's had the camera issue.

Thanks, @Kiboe for the reply. I found the fix last night (right after I posted ) on xda-developers through Google Groups.
I implemented @dferreira's suggestion, and it compiled just fine. Now I have a working camera, but video still isn't working. (Also accelerometer isn't working, but I believe I have already found the answer for that).
Hi All,
Since i am not allowed to post directly to the original thread to the great CM9 ROM from hei1125 -- Nova HD Plus v1.1,, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1508492
I have to ask here who had this ROM and discuss our experiences.
So far i got 2 issues:
- the voice call is very light said the call receiver, could anyone confirm? is there a way to increase the volumn?
- Google map zoom with two fingers is pretty bad, not smooth as it used to be on CM7
Thank you.

For calling and internet related issues, I would always check baseband and RIL first. I'm using the 750 baseband (as suggested by the developer) and got the matching RIL with GetRIL from the market. I have no issues with volume. I'm not quite sure whether I can reproduce your Gmap zoom issue, but perhaps this is because we are still lacking some graphic drivers from nvidia. Just my 2ct...

Yes I did had a lot of troubles with baseband and RIL,,, i tried GetRIL for help with my the latest temsak Kang, where i had problem that sometimes the mobile network is disconnected while screen off.
I felt this new ICS ROM is much better related to connection, only the volumn is too low.
I installed RC3-6 and really enjoyed the ICS experience. The ROM is smooth and stable as advertised.
However some key features are not working i.e. camera video
and some minor things like no support for wired headset button which ruins my usual music listening routine.
I tried this with Ironkernel but couldnt get it working due to the low memory error.
Wiped and installed again without the kernel and this time it worked great, nice ROM. Only problem is I need TUN support to get my vpn working and the included CM9 kernel doesnt seem to have this enabled.
Any other kernels i can try with CM9?

as far as i read from the forum, Ironkenel is great for performance however many other problems like faster battery drain,, so i would stick to the standard kernel and wait for the features to be implemented... at the end, the kernel is still in a relatively early stage and i am happy with the stability we could get so far.

Cyanogenmod 10 for the Droid Incredible - Unofficial
The CM team has officially dropped support for the Droid Incredible with the last supported release being CM7.
Credit
First, all credit goes to the following, I simply benefit from their work
Team Evervolv - Donate
Evervolv is responsible for keeping the device tree and a lot of the hardware drivers up to date, without them, we'd most likely have no roms.
Cyanogenmod - Donate
Cyanogenmod is responsible for all the features of the rom, without them we'd be stock with AOSP.
Stripped
Due to the increasing size of the system files to run JellyBean and Google apps and our limited system partition, some things have to be removed from the rom, otherwise things don't work, you blame me, you're sad, I'm sad, and no one wants that. Some things are also removed as I don't use them and removing them each time I flash a rom is a bother. That's the real reason I made this rom anyway. You should be able to replace almost anything that's been removed by installing it as a user app, adding it to your SD Card, or adding it to the rom before you flash it. If in doubt, ask.
AOSP ring tones, CM ring tones still exist
Apollo
The AOSP Music Player app - Play Music replaced this long ago imo
CM Wallpapers
DSP Manager
Live Wallpapers
OpenVPN
Non-English Dictionaries (Only matters if you're using the AOSP keyboard)
Rom Manager
Video Editor App
What doesn't work
Camcorder - not working on any Inc rom atm
Video Playback - Something in CM10 is causing it to break and trying to find out which piece is difficult
Other things? You tell me. I don't use the phone the same way you do, so something else could be broke.
Source Code
Can be found at my github here. If you want to build it yourself, feel free to tweak it, but please read the instructions, as at the time of this writing, there are many reverts to be made. I have them setup so they apply automatically when I repo sync using a shell script, you can do the same.

Main changes over 8/28 are upstream commits and updates to the stock kernel
Google Apps
Latest Evervolv Gapps is recommended due to their smaller size.
Goo.im Gapps also work, but are larger and you will need to watch your system space when flashing these.
Flashing
Cyanogenmod is designed to not need wipes between flashes. While this generally holds true, I've found occasionally flashing does solve an error or two. If something doesn't work after a dirty flash, clean flash before you report the problem. The download will say if a flash is required, otherwise follow what was just said.
Issues
If you're having issues follow this list of steps.
Check that you're on the latest build, if not, get on it
If you dirty flashed, clean install
If it's an issue with voice search or Google now, check system space, if it's full, free some and reflash gapps
If it's an issue with an app, try a clean install of said app
If it still doesn't work, search the thread, does someone have the same issue?
If no one has the issue, get a logcat and post in the thread, don't PM me. Logcats should be uploaded to a paste website, not directly posted on the forum.
Run around in circles until I or someone else posts a solution to your problem. If you get tired, take a break, then try to solve it yourself, if you do, post the results!
Thanks again to Team Evervolv and Cyanogenmod for making this rom possible.
Enjoy.
Haven't tried this yet but it's nice to see that it has found the light of day out of the Q&A section. Best of luck with this ROM as I know myself and many others will be following it.
Thank you for making this. It's good to see the Inc keep up.
I've recently come to the decision that having a working camcorder is more important than having the latest and greatest shiny, so I'm back down to CM7 for the time being.
Thanks for your efforts in making this available, it's great to have choice and I was beginning to miss the CM customization. I'm running a slightly older build now, but it's running great for me, and I'll be sure to be updating it to this newest when I get a chance.
Glad to see this thread in the Dev section now! So far this ROM is running great for me. I'll be installing the new 8/30 build soon.
Thanks for everything Zimeron
Thank you for this! Also, for some reason I thought the initial post was especially well written so props for that as well.
8/30 Working Well
I am running the 8/30 version with Evervolv's gapps and incredikernel. No new issues that I can find (just still konwn issues with camera and video). I don't have anything bluetooth so I can't test that. I was running Albinoman's but missed the CM addons.
Did CM9 ever get flashlight working in the notification widget? It is greyed out on CM10.
thanks Zimeron

Flashlight in the notification widget, never seen/used that before. I think I can get this turned on from some commits I saw today for other devices.
Anyone play words or scramble with friends while using this rom? It's a silly thing but I was wonder if you do, do you get updates when it's your turn?
It's really hit or miss on roms. Some ICS roms will notify, others will not.Evervolv's does not. I will flash anyways, just wondering.
Thanks for keeping this phone alive.

My bad! I should have tested it before posting haha. Your build fixed it actually. It didn't work on Albino's build, and I assumed it wouldn't work on this build either because it doesn't have the Offline Voice download setting. But I just tested it and it worked great! With no internet connection, I was able to dictate a text message
Loving this ROM!
On a side note, I just updated to 8-30 and noticed that I needed to reflash gapps after because my google program were missing. In the past with CM9, I didn't need to install gapps after a new nightly and relogin, etc. Is there any way to have it retain gapps when flashingover?

The script is there to maintain gapps, but I've found it to work randomly. I have flash it everytime to be safe, my brother never flashes it and never needs to on his Inc, no idea what's different, and it's not worth it to me to dig into it when it takes two seconds to queue another zip to flash with TWRP.
k sounds good. Not sure why, but 8-30 is running amazing and noticeably smoother than 8-28. I'm also using Tiny's JB kernel and it seems to be working great. Best ROM out there.
100% the best JB I've used thus far. Crazy smooth and responsive.

Unofficial, no warranty, express or implied. Not final, nothing to do with the CM people, not backed by them, not made by them, may cause corruption of innocent kittens if used irresponsibly. I am posting this only because the main CM sources are not perfect right now for building for Qualcomm devices just yet, and need some tweaks in new branches.

Do i need to edit my build.prop? Even though my device shows as SGP311?

Edit: Nevermind, just tried the latest supersu and works fine.
I can't get a restricted user to work for the life of me. All kinds of processes are force stopping and I couldn't pick trebuchet from the list on setup either, though I did manage to work around that with Apex eventually, though Apex kept crashing too.
I assume apps might have to support this (or at least launchers?) But core processes?
I did dirty flash so it's possible that has something to do with it.
Still digging around. I'll clean flash later to retry restricted users too.

Restricted profiles are not tested or a priority right now in CM I believe.
Got this working on my xtz SGP311 seems really quick so far recovery plays nice, only real issues I've encountered is that the screen flickers black every now and then using the aosp browser and MX player pro doesn't work as android 4.3 isn't supported yet which has nothing to do with the rom.
WiFi and GPS seem to working used google maps to find a location and navigate there had no issues with those yet.
Definitely something different over the Sony ui and less cluttered just need the sony remote
Gonna have a play with it and see how I get on with it lots of options to play with hehe

Got this working on my xtz SGP311 seems really quick so far recovery plays nice, only real issues I've encountered is that the screen flickers black every now and then using the aosp browser and MX player pro doesn't work as android 4.3 isn't supported yet which has nothing to do with the rom.

Check out the project by @Apache14 that brings infrared remote control support to non Sony ROMs!
Are you sure gps is working? I don't think it should be in this ROM...
I had a go at the open source IR by apache but had no luck getting it to work, but I'm not sure if I installed it right.
I'll have another play with GPS today as I've got more time and let you know I could have jumped the gun on this one lol. I quickly downloaded an app called GPS test and although it says the GPS is on it doesn't show anything else like coordinates or location I'll keep playing for now though.

Thanks a lot for throwing this together... everything seems to be working great, I'm impressed by focal.
I'm still struggling with is the absence of tablet UI (trying to hit the home softkey in landscape is impossible, so I've been forced to full!screen, which is working well), but it's a small price to pay for the jump from Sony's 4.1.2 to a functional 4.3 Rom.

Interesting. Out of interest, how do you use your tablet ? I'm just trying to work out if there is any link or difference - personally I thought the same, that tablet was good, until I used my Nexus 10... Then I was "sold" - tablet UI was sub-optimal. I tend to use the tablet with 2 hands - one holding it, another free across the top for use. I find keeping navigation to the centre more logical personally, and more ergonomic. It also keeps the notification tray at the top, consistent with the phone. At other times, I use the tablet as a "monitor" and type with a Bluetooth keyboard, where I do not interact with the touchscreen much (except at arm's length), and find phablet UI quite convenient. Moreso than I felt with tablet UI.
It's intriguing though. I am sure I can look at readding it some time, but I'm fairly busy so it will take a while. I noticed Sony seem to be moving to phablet UI for 4.2 as well though...
I hold mine on the sides and mostly interact with my thumbs, thus central on screen controls are hard to reach. But, to each his own. I also use Thumb Keyboard exclusively on my tablets, much more natural than trying to type with one hand holding with the other.
so yeah i finally got around to testing the GPS navigation and it just says "Searching for GPS" the whole time so confirmed its not working.
i also found a issue with the swipe to type on the AOSP keyboard as soon as i tried to use swiping it force closed the keyboard, not a big issue just thought id mention it.
i noticed you've done a couple of updates as well whats the best way to update the rom just flash as usual using the file in op?

Just like with CM nightlies, just flash the latest update right over whatever you have.
In rare cases other changes will be needed, maintainers will usually let you know in these cases.
I'm investigating GPS on 10.1 on the windy - it's proving to be a bit of a headscratcher, although it has many of the hallmarks of the same problem we had with the modem on mint (Xperia T) months ago. Unfortunately, we can't use the same fix/workaround we used on mint.
pulser, may want to check the CM10.1 thread for my SMD debugging patch, might give some useful info - although what I need to do is get a build environment together for stock kernels so I can apply that patch to .370 for comparison.
i hate to sound like a noob but i am still learning lol is it safe to just flash the updates with cwm or is it best to do it with the flash tool?
it seems like gps has got a lot of people scratching their heads at the moment but im sure with so many looking into it there is sure to be a solution soon
Edit: its OK I went ahead and flashed the update using cwm and it worked, I'm to impatient to wait lol but at least I've learned something
Updated to 10th August build
Will you continue to tweak now that official nightlies are out?
