Great tool! Option 6,8 and 9 used and works perfectly. Awesome job, and thanks! It may come out of retirement now.

it doesn't work on my phone with the ICS update

The program doesnot find the phone ? Any new metthod?

In order for the install of TWRP or CWMR you have to install the wkpark bootloaders. In order for the phone to be recognized you plug it in without the battery being in the phone. Do a 5 count as soon as you plug it in and then insert the battery when you hit five. Let me know if this helps. There is also a version 1.2 over in the Optimus 3D developement forums. That is the version that i used.

It should not have kept it from booting. Did you try using the v1.2 from the optimus 3D forums? I did this myself just a couple of days ago. What order did you flash the files to your device?

Quick question. When you boot up the phone is the LG logo silver? If it is, give the phone about 3 minutes - a bit of a stretch that it would take that long. Also have you pulled the battery, hit the power button, then put the battery back in? When you put the battery back in it should power up by itself. (Weird quirk of the newer bootloader.) Let me know. I'll be on for a little longer.

i tried option 12 by mistake and now my phone is bricked!any help???

Ok. Follow these steps EXACTLY:
1. Make sure you have odin, the I9000XWJG5 firmware and the file that ends on "512.pit".
2. Reboot your PC.
3. Disable your antivirus, firewall and all similar programs!
4. Reboot your PC again.
5. Run odin directly after boot!
6. Select the files in odin.
7. Take the battery out of your phone.
8. Put it back in and press "volume down"+"home"+"power"
9. Connect your phone to your pc via usb cable and wait for odin to recognize it.
10. Press start in odin.
11. Wait!
Do these steps exactly in this order and you should be fine.

[Q] Is this bricked for good?

This should be quick.
So I was using the Captivate AIO, but I flashed some drivers from the "Flashing ROMs on the Captivate" thread instead of the AIO. This is on Windows XP 32-bit.
Before I flashed the stock ROM the phone was already having a voice telling me things that I couldn't understand when I tried starting normally. I think data partition was corrupt or something.
I thought something was wrong because I had to use Vol - to get into download mode, so I flashed 3 button fix version. First time failed for some reason, so I unplug and restart again. Second time fails at SetupConnection, so I try the third time, which seems to work. Download goes through, Success! is shown in the box where there was the indicator of what was being flashed. The phone seems to shut down or restart once finished.
Now, for some reason the phone now refuses to start up or anything. Putting in the battery and trying the power button gives me nothing. Holding Vol+ and Vol- with USB plugged in and then putting in battery is nothing. No bootloop, no indication of anything, just black screen.
Is this permabricked?
Yes, you are hard bricked. You had the I9000 gingerbread bootloaders, hence the different button combos, you flash the 3 button fix which is just a froyo sbl.bin (secondary bootloader) but you still have a gingerbread boot.bin(primitive bootloader) so the pbl can't transition into the sbl because they are incompatible.
You can get jtag from mobiletechvideos.com for $50
Or find a user named adam outler I believe he offers jtagging for $30 (here is his user profile just shoot him a pm: http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=3682533 )
Or you could try your hands st a warranty replacement....but that would require a little loose morals and a story (lie) about what happened.
I'll take the JTAG as a 50 dollar lesson learned.
Do you know where these guys are located (physically)? I see there's a paypal but I don't see any way to really send it out to them.
You could always use adam outlers help....!
He has unbricked many captivates and is really good,my suggestion would be just pm him once before you decide doing anything....!

Josh from mobile tech lives in texas. Austin I believe.
Adam outler lives in louisiana.
Already ordered the JTAG service from their website, the Captivate is definitely a far cry from what's a relatively easy flashing process for the Desire HD.
Just to be sure, the process goes by Odin3 1 click flashback to stock, then root, then custom ROM, then..?

no.
flashing back to stock is not required to flash a rom
rooting is not required to flash a rom
if you are on stock 2.2 with 3e recovery, then just odin a custom kernel that has CWM built in, flash your rom
if you are on 2.1 with 2e recovery, just drop the update.zip that rom manager makes onto your sdcard, reboot to recovery, reinstall packages twice, then you will be in CWM. flash your rom

Gah, the guides on the dev section all seem to really stress the need to go back to stock before flashing.
Is it possible/okay to just do a full wipe in CWR, then flash the ROM in recovery if it allows for it, or is this more nuanced than I think it is?
Most roms actually have a wipe script in then so all you really need is to just flash it...but if you want to make extra sure its a clean flash then yes full wipe in recovery then flash.
Unless it is a gingerbread rom and you have eclair/froyo bootloaders. Then you would need to flash those with odin/heimdall and then the rom in recovery. But if you already have ginger boots then the above still applies.

Flashing back to stock is optional, you should be able to flash any rom via the cwm, follow these steps:
In the cwm menu
1.wipe data
2.wipe cache
3.go to advanced cwm features and wipe dalvik cache
4.then install zip from sd card
5.choose zip from sd card
6.install it and reboot....!
will work for all android versions, but make sure you dont mess up the bootloaders

Lol I do that all the time.
us in team phoenix call that ninja-ing.
Well, at least now I know what to do next time when it comes back.
Better yet what NOT to do.
Do not flash the 3 button fix if you have gingerbread bootloaders.
Anymore "DON'T DO THIS EVER" words of wisdom?

I charge $30 per unit. I use a different method. I apply a header to the device which is plug-n-play from then on. It's a piece which Samsung left off the board to save $1.75 per unit. http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Panasonic/AXT612124/?qs=2rFUEsTwVNwSdqVM5XnLHw==

[Q] [BRICKED] Please Help!

Hi, Okay I was trying to flash clockworkmod recovery on my friend's Rooted Samsung Captivate w/ Eclair so that I could then flash a newer version of android to their phone since they couldn't update it via OTA considering they don't have a sim card. So firstly I flashed http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Samsung_Captivate:_Full_Update_Guide mtcarey's kernel with ClockworkMod Recovery using Heimdall Suite. After flashing, the phone it restarted like prompted in the instructions then a suddenly the screen was full of pixels and blackness it also boot loops, the only other thing I can get into is in download mode here's a photo.

I think this happened because the kernel was gingerbread based but the phone was still on eclair. I tried to revert back to stock with Odin but I can't get into normal boot or recovery so the device isn't recognized. I am thinking about flashing a 2.1 kernel with stock recovery (if I can find one) using Heimdall since it doesn't need to have a device recognized.
Please can someone give me any tips before doing so also providing a correct kernel? or correct me if I'm doing anything wrong? Please my friend and I would really appreciate it!
Mmm..
1- Take the battery out and disconnect the USB cable
2- Verify that you've the correct Samsung drivers
3- Open THIS Odin
4- Put the battery again
5- Hold Vol Up and Vol Down buttons (DON'T PRESS THE POWER BUTTON!!!), and connect the phone to your PC with the USB. Don't release the Volume buttons until you see the Download Mode Screen..
6- Release the buttons, and press start
BTW.. If it was in Eclair, the only thing you should've done is download ROM Manager from Market, then install/flash ClockworkMod Recovery from ROM Manager

I did all of the steps provided and still no prevail, but luckily when I flashed another kernel which wasn't stock while in download mode, it successfully worked! and I did go to the market but ClockworkMod Recovery free version wasn't in the market ever since they converted to the Play Store, I even downloaded the APK but the stock rom didn't allow third party installations. But thanks anyways!

Belay that order! There is no need to download the ClockworkMod Recovery from the play store. It doesn't really have anything for our devices so it is not needed. You will just need a kernel with CWM baked into it.
The problem was that you flashed a Gingerbread Kernel (KK4) to your Eclair phone. In the future, you will want to flash a stock Gingerbread image (if you're not on one now), flash a kernel with CWM (Corn is a fine choice), and then proceed to update to the newer ROM through CWM (unless the ROM has an Odin/Heimdall package)
The funky pixelation is also due to trying to run something Gingerbread without having the Gingerbread Bootloaders.
To run a GB Rom u have gotta have the GB Bootloaders.

[Q] Problem with bootloader Galaxy Tab P1000 internal memory corrupted

Hi,
Sorry for my english first.
I have Galaxy Tab GT-P1000... and problem.
My device have corruped internal memory. Problem with flash hidden.rfs and movinand.mst, and samsung logo loop.
At first I try to flash with Odin3 and stock firmware 2.3.3 and I see it's make no diffrent. Try second time this same and I see logo screen with mobile, PC and exclamation mark between.
I use OneClikLoader and I can go on Downloading Mode.
After that I read how to fix problem with internal memory and use only external sd card to make device work.
I download heimdall 3.09, Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread [XWJQ8], Overcome Kernell 4 and probably I do something wrong. Mayby i don't understand somthing. Now I can't explaint what I do wrong. I use Overcome Kernell zImage, mayby I swaaped RECOVERY with KERNEL in Heidmall.
I write what is the situation now.
My device looks like hard brick, almost. It won't turn on when flash is end, push power button and nothing. I connect to the computer and after 20min its show samung logo by long time and go another step, show short animation, but it stuck. I turned off and try turn on and nothing happend.
Somehow I managed turn on download mode on device. I thing I have corruped bootloader, kernell and evrything .
Could someone can help me and tell what should I do, what firmware, bootloader download and how to flash by heimdall only, becouse Odin don't see the device. We can accepted that device is hard bricked and we must flash everything.
Thank You
Whait for help
Damian
The first bit of advice is to let this thing charge up, preferably overnight. From the way your describing it, it sounds to me like your Battery has gone flat. And, although you can, and I have done some Flashing with ca~ 10% Battery Life. Its not something you should do regularly. Alas I didn't have a USB Charger back then. I have since corrected this oversight, and now I can fully charge my P1000 with-in 4~5 hours. Assuming that you can only charge though a PC this WILL take longer. A lot longer!
After which you should try to reflash again with the stock Gingerbread 2.3.3. Oden Package gt-p1000_mr.pit, GB_Stock_Safe_v5.tar and the XXJPZ Modem <- VERY IMPORTANT! In my experience if I had forgot to include this File in Oden, and then flashed anyway I'd land up in soft-brick land, which then required me to use the One-Click Recovery which is a PITA to have to keep setting up on each use. (on a Windows7 Netbook).
If you still get errors then you may have to also flash dbdata.tar (PDA Section) to your P1000, and then go back into recovery and rerun Wipe Data/Factory Reset & Wipe Cache Partition. Which should hopefully fix your problems.
These Files must be unzipped! THEY ARE NOT MEANT TO BE FLASHED VIA RECOVERY!! You have to use either Heimdall or Oden to flash this!
It is false to assume you need root to flash a custom Rom. You only need custom recovery.
Rooting allows you to gain super user privileges.
Just because the kernel that has cwm also has root doesn't make rooting necessary.

I am just informing newbies & or maybe a few older rom users with some tips when flashing a custom rom on there S5 for the first time & there is some good infomation here so please read on. When i attemted to flash my Samsung this weekend for the first time i got myself locked out (due to the Reactivation lock) & stuck on a bootloop trying to refix my phone again, i know most of this stuff should be common knowledge but as i found out myself this weekend some isnt. I have had quite a few years experiance flashing various phones with custom roms, modding apks, flashing bootloaders & customising roms so i am not a newbie to the Xda forums or rom flashing. & if you need to reflash back to stock for any reason I have noticed that there is not many download links on Xda or the internet which is not good when the worst happens to your shiny S5.

So heres some useful steps to follow before you start rooting or flashing Roms
1. Make a backup of your rom (System), you can do this in recovery mode.
2. Download your new rom & bootloader & modem (if needed) & then check the MD5 hash/checkstring of your download (if its not the same as what is stated where you downloaded it from then redownload the file) You can download a free MD5 hash checker app via the googleplay store & then check the MD5 sums from the zip file on your phone.
3. Check in your settings that these opitions are right - Unknown sources is ticked & very inportant that the Reactivation lock is unticked! (located in settings/security) or you will lock up your phone after flashing your rom!, & USB debugging is ticked (located in settings/developer options).
4. Make sure your phone battery is not low, best get a full charge or at least 50% before flashing just incase anything goes wrong!
5. Download Odin (if needed) & make sure that the only items ticked are Auto reboot & F.Reset time, & only add firmware or recoverys into the PDA/AP button!
6. Download a Toolbox or prefered method for Rooting & follow the instructions from start to finish, do not miss anything & always read & read before you flash.
7. You can access Recovery mode by holding the Up Volume button/Home button/Power button held down together untill you see the first logo pop up, then release the buttons.
8. You can access Download mode by holding the Down Volume button/Home button/Power button held down together (if it don't pop up first time try again & make sure you have the USB wire plugged in to your laptop/pc & it should work everytime).
9. You can Soft Reboot/manual reboot the phone (if needed) by holding the Home button/Power button held down together.
10. You can Hard Reboot (by physically pulling out the battery) then re inserting it again then power on the device, this method maybe used if you are stuck in a bootloop.
11. Use a laptop which has been fully charged of over a 50% charge instead of a PC so that during the flashing period there is no chance of a power charge or power cut happening in your house that will interupt & could brick or soft brick your S5.
If you need any original firmware because you want to revert back at any point you can download them for free from SamMobile they have all different countrys & carriers but you will need to add a account first & just to warn you it will take a hour or more if you use the free download so if you are stuck in a bootloop just hard reset your phone (do a battery pull) then once downloaded start from there.
SamMobile Download link here - http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
It is safe to flash a custom rom to your phone but there is always the chance of something going wrong, you may bootloop or turn your S5 into a fancy paper weight (if your safe this won't happen), hope these little tricks help & these are some of the questions & things that can throw or put people off when flashing roms or rooting your phone.
