[Q] [REQUEST] Email.apk for GB 2.3.6 (Meso ROM) - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I loaded Meso ROM this week. I'm very happy with the performance and appearance thus far. It is very clean with all the bloatware removed.
Within the Meso ROM thread, there is a post stating all of the bloatware is available for download. Unfortunately there is no link to a download.
==Removed bloatware (removed samsung related apps)==
this is a flashable zip contains the removed bloatware. if u want to choose the apks u want to flash, then open the zip and in /system/app delete the files u don't want to install.
Does anyone have this zip file? How about stock apps that will work with this ROM?
I tried loading up JVU and extracting the Email.apk and Email.odex, but that didn't work.
Please help!
I don't want to switch. I really like the battery life with GB, and like the way this ROM works.

Contact alkhafaf developer of Mesorom...did you try that first or post on that page?
Try this email.apk : HERE
Copy it to system/app with Root Explorer then reboot phone

[Q] 2.1's Framework

Can someone with original 2.1 please post the whole of the /system/framework so I can use the framework to port apps to 2.3.5 (it needs to odex'd). Then I can post some of the stock apps and widgets (not fm or hidden menu etc though). I cannot unyaffs the recovery of 2.1 as it gives a stack error
Thanks in advance!
You can use this backup of 2.1
Or, I've got a packed /framework here - if that's any use... V20A

thanks fishears.I'm on such a slow internet connection (i'm on holiday), so if I download a whole rom it would take about an hour. I'll use the backup at home, and the framework for now. When I first updated I had an "oh no what if it goes wrong " moment and backed up the /system folder but not the /system/framework folder (ran out of space) so I have a good amount of stock apks to port

[Q] Porting MIUI Browser to non-MIUI ROM?

Hello all,
I have been using MIUI on my SGS for months now and now planning to move to a new non-MIUI rom.
I would however love to port the Browser.apk (maybe the music app too) from my current installation to the new rom.
I know from experience it isn't just a simple case of copying the browser.apk to sdcard and install it later on (application is not installed error).
Can anybody advise how I would do this?
Many Thanks,
Andy
I haven't tried it, however a system app must be placed in system/app it can't be slapped just anywhere. You will need to paste it, change permissions, then install. And probably also need to reboot.
Can someone share the apk?
I attached the Browser.apk. First make a backup of your old Browser.apk (just rename it to "Browser.apk.bak"), then put the new Browser.apk inside the /system/app folder. Change permissions to 644 (rw-,r--,r-- in RootExplorer) and reboot. Please let me know if it worked... Thanks!
(Application taken from 1.12.23 MIUI.)
Edit: After five minutes of reflection, i decided that there's just a minimal chance that this .apk works on deodexed non-CM-based ROMs - on odexed systems there's of course no chance!
Ok m8, just tried this procedure and didn't work. When i try to execute automatically FC.
I have an Huawei Ideos X5 (U8800) with the latest official 2.3 release.
Didnt worked for me on sgs2. Got fc

Name of keyboard in system/app

Hi i just wanted to know if anyone knows the name of the samsung keyboard in system/apps.
I wanted to replace it with the older keyboard that the SGN first came with.
I would really appreciate it if someone could give me the keyboard apk from the older samsung rom. The one with no numbers on top and bigger buttons.
Thanks.
Also does anyone know how to open a tar file on windows to add and remove apk's ???
AxT9IME.apk is the name of the stock keyboard.
I do not have the stock keyboard as i run a custom ICS ROM on it, You can have the stock ICS keyboard if you wish ? But i dont think its what you're looking for, However you could download a stock SGN ROM (GB ?) and extract it, I think its named LatinIME.apk in older Samsung GB ROMs
Also, Its not possible to open the contents of a .tar file on windows, Inside that .tar is files only recognised by ODIN and Linux machines (or emulators)
You can just remove apps with titanium backup, or freeze them (which is ideal if they are system apps) until you know they are safe to remove, A list of safe to remove apps can be found here, https://spreadsheets.google.com/spr...1gdDJRekl4QmkyNmIzUmRvX2h3UDVkQXc&output=html

Thanks for your help, much appreciated.
Do you know how can you add apps to a stock ROM downloaded from the internet??
if you have the rom and its a cwm flashable version you can just use 7zip to add remove parts of the rom and then flash it.
its called being a 7zip jockey there's a lot of them on xda lol

deleted conversations.apk now can't send sms even after reflashing custom rom

I accidentally deleted the conversations.apk file
even after reinstalling romaur's rom, and getting the apk file back, I can't send sms!
do I need to reflash the stock rom again?
no just add (copy) this Conversation.apk to the system/app/
and restart the phone.
(You can use RootExplorer or any other alternative program)
and please next time be careful with system apps.

[Q] Odex rom from pc.

Hey guys,i didnt find a tutorial so i will ask you here. How can i download a rom and odex it from pc before i flash it?Because its not easy to odex every rom i download with universal odex script.Im too lazy to do this(and many times terminal print errors and i have to do this again).I know it could be happen cause many of you create roms and upload which already are odexed! Thanks guys for your help!
I found solution from alin.p. So here is a nice tutorial:
You have to flash it de-odexed first, then odex whatever part of your system you want with the Universal Odex Script which you'll find in the Mini forums, then extract the odex files from:
1. /system/app if you odexed system apps
2. /system/framework if you odexed the bootstrap or the framework
Put the extracted files inside the zip in the appropriate folders.
A little warning here: even a single (no matter how little) change inside the framework code, will break the whole ROM if it is odexed.
where do i find the script need it link please
