[Q] Tmobile Note with bad IMEI used on At&T? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

If I purchase a T-Mobile Note that has a bad IMEI since it was listed as stolen, can I still use it on At&t?
There is a guy who claims to have lost his original Note, called in his Note as stolen and got a different one from T-Mobile.Now he is selling the original one he said he found for a good price.
I already have the At&t i717 version but At&t has me purchasing a data plan just to be able to use it.I hardly use the data at all and just need talk and text since I'm always near a wi-fi spot.
Would the T-Mobile Note with the blacklisted IMEI work on At&t's network?

How much is he asking ??

Thanks for your advice. I wonder whether ATT doesn't provide code, i can buy on ebay and unlock my phone or not?
I will try.
Can't believe people are offering you help with committing a crime (at least here in the US). Shady business to buy a stolen phone. Assuming it's probably stolen since ATT blocked the IMEI.

I don't like jumping to conclusions. It could be that guy reported his phone as stolen when he lost it, then he found it but already has a new phone.

Still fraud.
edit: not trying to be the moral police, but this doesn't seem like the place to ask or give help in this situation. He should ask the guy he bought it from.

Hi all,
Can this phone be SIM\ network unlocked? I have been duped by a guy on-line who sold me a sealed unit and now I find that it's network blocked\blacklisted here on one of the networks in Ireland I would like to unlock it to see if hopefully I can get it working on one of the other networks. If it's been blacklisted on 1 network dude I think it will be the same for them all. Think they all use the same database. Where online did you purchase it?

Yeah worth a try. Can't see them replacing the phone though. But if it's been someone on there network that's put in a claim on there insurance after selling it to you I'm sure they could check. Was it in a box with all accessories? Most stolen or lost phones come with no boxes or accessories.

It was brand new and sealed in the box mate so that is why I was not suspicious at all, unreal that they will just block unused phones like that!! If they won't help I'll get an unlock code or try get it unlocked on XDA somehow and then hope that it works on Vodafone or O2!?
Are you in Dublin yourself?
M
Yes you did say it was sealed. No mate... Up North in Belfast. Try calling your network. See what they can do.

OK mate....I wonder if phones blocked down here are blocked up there mate!? You have started me thinking
Have wondered that myself. Up here is considered UK home networks. I'm on 3... And if I travel over the border im still charged mainland Europe roaming rates. And I see a lot of people selling phones on eBay from the UK stating no signal Europe only. Obviously barred on UK networks.

Switching from Sprint to T-mobile, can I keep this phone?

Hi all, because sprint is removing my discount (I've been a customer for over 10 years) it is cheaper to move to T-mobile, but it has already been over 14 days and I cannot return my current sprint phone.
I currently have it rooted and unlocked, but I'm wondering if it is possible for me to just somehome keep this phone, but use it on the T-mobile network instead of having to sell this, and than buying a new one and losing money.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated,
Thank you!
Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't they make it illegal to take your phone to a new carrier without your current carriers permission. Granted I do not know the details. But from what I understand the networks are not compatible so I do not think you would be able to do that. One is CDMA and the other is GSM.
I'm surprised no one's answered this simple question.
To answer your question, no. No way in hell. Sell your phone and get it T Mobile Phone simple as that.

They removed your discount when you upgraded. Go back into the store, fill out the form and fax it to Sprint. You will then have your discount back. You just have to re-verify every 2 years.

No, for two reasons...
1. The phone won't do GSM inside the US.
2. Even if it could do GSM in the US, it lacks UMTS 850, UMTS 1700 and LTE 1700, hence performance on T-Mobile as a smartphone will be poor.

I'm not, just throwing it out there for this person for an option
You could easily make 550 off of your One, assuming it's in like-new condition.

Help Me Unblock My Xperia Z

Hello
I was wondering if someone can help me.
I have an xperia Z on contract and 3 weeks ago i lost it and claimed a new one on insurance only to find the original one 6 days later at my mums house. Is there anyway i can unblock the original one so it will take a sim again and be fully functional?
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Not anything you can do yourself, no. A network block can only be removed by the network.
Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk 4
Yes u can, sell it outside the country Should work then. It should also work in other network once sim free. It got blocked by imei number, depending on insurance company, only one or all networks in ur country. Should work in other network in other country.

bwhahahahahahaha....stop it with the story...just say i am trying to scam and figure out the best way...lmao
Call up your network first and see what they say; they may be able to unblock the other one if you really wanted to, but your best option would be to sell it online to someone out of the country. :good:

Google is your friend.
Some insurance company's will place a imei block on the phone. Allegedly when the stolen/lost phone is used it will register with the insurance company.
This is only what I have heard.

Turning the ATT galaxy s5 into the generic samsung galaxy s5??

Would it be easily possible to change out the firmware/software motherboard with the replacement part found and purchased online, making the phone unlocked assuming the new part came out of or is a new replacement for a non carrier specific S5. If so, anyone know where to find. Ill buy and do it within the next week dep on price. Thanks for any advice!! Also info on different 4g network chips that can handle more frequencies and still work with the firmware (custom or stock)

Are you kidding? ??? With what we have on ATT S5 with lock bootloader and no root make genetic phone? He is talking about to replace main board on phone. I think easier way is to buy t-mobile phone. Proof me wrong.
Swiping from dark side of Galaxy S5.

the board to replace is still quite expensive besides remember that some variants are slightly different on the inside and the frame might not fit perfectly with the board when you try to put it back together and even if it does i dont know how that will affect the whole ip67 water proof-ness......
