i have used this tool to upgrade my HD7 to 7.8 by selecting the English UK knowing that i had English USA - it did not work other wise - but now, i am not able to run many applications such as email, sms , wireless, about etc.
i did restore the backup i had but did not solve the problem; still not able to use any of the applications
any one can help?

I only noticed my phone(US T-mobile HD7) couldn't connect to my home wireless after using this tool upgrade to 7.8. Try this:
settings--->Wi-Fi--->advanced--->delete all known networks and let the phone search again
this solved my problem, hope it helps.
Confusion about language packs
When selecting language packs, I am only supposed to select the languages my phone has under "display languages", correct? Because if I am supposed to look under "System Locale" or "Browsing and Search Language" or "Region Format", it has more languages than seven eighter lists. Under "Display Languges" all my phone has is English and Spanish. Is that normal?

i had English US but it did not work until i used the English UK;
now i am not able to access the language to check what is it!!

I have the same problem.
My HD7 does not work right.
After using the program, choosing US Language, the option Wi-fi doesn't open and the option "About" in Settings too.
I restored with the Zune, but don't was resolved.
PS. Sorry my English. I'm a Brazilian guy whit the bad English.

got my XDA yesterday an was told to wipe the o2 software an its speeds up the phone more, also looking for the XP theam for it. and how to update and install etc etc? first time av had a phone like this u see. :lol: :lol:
can anyone help me with this?

First thing First..
To remove the O2 Software read this ::
The BEST way to remove this completely is......
by Going into Start> Programs> <INSTALL TYPE>
Here you have to choose CORPORATE.
There is a timer running here and you have just 20 seconds to make up your Mind.
The Option BASIC is already Highlighted.
Here you have to choose CORPORATE.
There is also a place for password here (5060 or 4050 is supposed to work)
But in my case Even feeding No password removed it !!
This Unistalls Mobile Solutions SRL O2 ActiveUI and lets O2 plus V2.00 run properly.

Also new to the 02 XDA Mini (4 days). I did the basic install as I read on another forum (AV Forums) that using the corporate install meant you had to install all sorts of settings yourself. It went on to say thet the O2 software can still be deleted from the basic install.
I got rid of some but am left with 'install type', and 'email setup', both with the O2 logo. Can i get rid of these safely as well?

The INSTALL TYPE is there so that in case u change ur mind again and want to reinstall it....
Let it stay.
I suppose thats just a shortcut.

You have to do a Hard Reset in order to do so. Note that all data will be gone, so make backups.
To do so, press the Reset and the Power Button together. Do not release the Power Button until you see a screen asking to delete all data.
Once that is done you will be taken to the setup screen asking for language selection. Make sure you choose the right one or you will need another Hard Reset.

Language is ROM-dependent and you have to flash another ROM to change the language.

Youre both right and wrong. My phone for instance, has languages like French and German even though I use English. It depends on where it is distributed from and the carrier. However, all this is only accessible from the Setup. If the language you need is not available through Setup, then a custom or laguage specific should be applied to replace the current on the ROM. Even though Im a new 750 user, this is basically the same across all Palm phones.

At the end of the installation, every time it says: synchronization failed, i ve try 4 version, and it is the same, my username and password are good, because i ve manage to connect via palringo software...

sorry to hear that your WLM is not working...
I've had some probs myself as well with it, but I found a version which should work...
1st of all...remove all what's left of your WLM on your mobile...
after that, I have added 2 apps for you you have to install:
-windows live noIm 0409
softreset
-Windows Live 10.6.39.1300
softreset

very sorry, maybe i am dumb, but i do it and it does not work, but i think i am not doing the right thing, when i install the first soft, at the end of the installation it doesnt ask me to reset my htc. the second one yes, so maybe i take a wrong way... when you say soft reset, i switch off my phone? and when i install the first file, and then the second one, how can i know if the first programme is removed?because normally, it has to ask me if i want to remove the old version...

No, I think i know why it doesn't work for you....you need to install those apps in the way I told you, INCLUDING a soft reset between the 2 programs...and a soft reset can also be done by pressing the powerbutton to turn the device off...wait about 10 seconds and turn it back on...
afterwards you install the 2nd one WITHOUT uninstalling the 1st one...because that one will be overwritten with the new one....
It should work...that's the way it works by me...I've done the same thing...

I have downloaded the Windows Live cab from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/mobile/wl/languages-en-us.mspx , but it doesn't contain the Messenger sw.
Where can I find it? In a oldest ROM i have it installed......

But I can't see any chinese characters its all blocks.. can anyones help me or explain me in simple way/steps how to do it or with printscreen or anythings else so I will understand easier..

same problem, using the Energy roms, I USE to use CE STAR, and it worked fine for other 6.5 roms such as Dutty, Tess, but iuno why donest work for energy roms,,, any help??

There is a chinese font that you can install i have a topaz with windows 6.5 and it works fine, but i don't need it because i have a singapore phone i'll upload it. let me know if it works for you. if all else fails go check out zta4 v 2.8 it is chinese input but it eliminates xt9.
for tianzhi: if you are unsure how to install...sync your phone with your computer. open up "my computer" and select my windows mobile device and find a place that you can easily remember to transfer the cab file. then on your phone go to file explorer and find the place you put the cab and then open the cab file. it will ask you where you want to install, select it then wait a few moments for it to install. after its done soft reset your phone and your chinese characters will not have a problem at least on stock devices or officially upgraded devices through htc. i am not sure about cooked roms.

那就不要用英文吧， 好像我们都会中文。就不是我的母语！哈哈 其实安装手机输入法更好，但是有时候那个输入法不会自动的安装字。

I tried to install Extpkg_Setup.exe but it writes Confirmation: the files have been changed! :S what is the problem?

It indicates that files required to changing language have been installed on the device and has changed its previously existing files !
next step hard reset device and after that please keep up the screen with the flags that are displayed. Once the screen appears with a flag, click to select the language. to change the language, please repeat the RESET procedure.
But, when i hard reset the device, after that i cant see the flags but it only restart the phone.
In sunnysoft tutorial:
Hard reset procedure
Go to Start/Settings/System/Clear Storage.
Enter digits “1234” and tap "Yes".
After device restart please hold till screen with flags shown. Once the screen appears with the flag, click to select the language.
To change language, please repeat HARD RESET procedure.
