[Q] How to get back to Stock rom ace HELP please - Galaxy Ace S5830 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hai guys
I've rooted my ace, and I've installed cyanogenmod 9 rc2 from maclaw studio's. But I want to go back to the stockrom. I've made a backup before (by clockwork mod), so my question is, can I restore it and use my original rom (android 2.3.5). I haven't tried it before. Should I do something else before. Need I Odin. Plz help.

Hi pal!
You could restore your previous nandroidbackup from the recovery without any problem.
Sent from my GT-S5830

You can restore, but if you have bootloop after restoring just wipe both caches

You're welcome.
Good luck!

But my phone isn't rooted any more. (After the update, I don't know why). Must my phone be rooted before the restore, or isn't it necessary.

I think you need CWM recovery; and so, yes, you need root before.
Anyway, before doing anything you may do another nandroid backup of your new firmware..
Good luck
Edit:
You could read this link
"Nielli's [GUIDE] Guides and Tips How to Root SGA, Install CWM5 and install Mods + Downloads"
In the link you'll find the last stable recovery -version 5.0.2.6- and much more.
Good luck again!

R: [Q] How to get back to Stock rom ace HELP please
Root is not needed in order to use the CWM correctly. If you restore your backup successfully and everything works you're ok I few time ago I installed CM 7.2 on my Ace with CWM without pre-rooted rom on.

Hi, have u tried to flash the official firmware by Odin?

It's Very Easy my friend
Simple Bro , Download the firmware files from sammobile.com then Google for Galaxy Ace Odin ..I guess the version is 4.38 or something like that ..and make sure you download the cooper file with it then flash the original firmware using Odin.So then your phone is back to how it was when you bought it..now flash CWM Recovery again and then restore your back up.
I hope this was helpful.
If you want the instructions on how to do this ..let me know ..I'll give you think link for the files also

But can I simply restore the backup from clockworkmod with the firmware in it, or should I do it with Odin.

Should I install the same root file by clockworkmod, or another file, because it's the second time. I have already superuser on my phone, but it don't give privileges at my apps. It's very strange. Thanks for your help.

Hi Tob1234!
The rooting method depends on phone's firmware (and android version), search for yours.
If one method doesn´t work for you, you could try another, eventually you'll get it.
You also could install from recovery -CWM- (acording to the OP's instructions) any stock ROM from the threads thus, as you know, they are already rooted.
BTW, I'm on a sotck one: NaTHaN's ROM with Space Kernel and, for me, all goes like a charm.
Good luck!

Hi, thanks for the link. But when I restore my backup, made with my old rom, I would be back to that rom, or not. That sounds easier. And, if I need Odin, is it possible that I can use it, because I've read on a site that you can't use Odin when you have used clockworkmod.

Hi Tob1234!, when you restore your backup, made with your old rom, you go back to that rom as it was when you did that backup (apps, settings and all).
You don't need Odin for doing that, just use CWM recovery if you want to restore your old backup made with CWM.
You can use Odin, but with other special files, NOT with nandroid backups.
To have CWM or not doesn't matter for using Odin.
BTW, all this stuff is in the links.
Good luck, Tob!

[Q] Flashing to stock without drivers installed

Is there a way to flash back to stock without the drivers installed on the computer you're flashing with? Can you flash back to stock via CWM or is that not very reliable? I just want a way to do it while I'm at work, where I can't install any programs or drivers. If it is possible, if someone would provide the link for the correct ROM that would be much appreciated.

As far as I have experienced, u can revert back to a ROM using restore, provided u r on the same android version that u r restoring or moving from 2.1 to 2.2. Or, if u have a zip of the same ROM that u have on, u could go to recovery and install that zip file.
I was able to install a different from CWM recovery. I was having the ROM (froyo) on this thread
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=861938
and I went to CWM recovery and installed the ROM (froyo) on this thread
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=848066
.
I had backup of ROM 2 on mine. I was running ROM 1 and tried to restore backup of ROM 2, it started giving FCs. I installed ROM 2 from scratch as a fresh install, and then restored ROM 2 data.
But be warned, u cannot restore a backup of a different ROM that u have on unless u first make a fresh install of the ROM u want to restore, and then restore the same from backup.
Also, u cannot move between 2.1 and 2.2 on the fly. You can save 2.2 ROMs as zip files and install them using CWM. But to get back to 2.1, u need to get a computer. This is atleast what I had experienced.

Prob:Restoring nandroid stock rom backup

Hey guys im using miracle v4 (cm7)
But now i want to revert to stock rom...
I tried to restored backup of original stock rom via nandroid (cwm) but my ace got stucked on logo
..
Can someone pls give a step by step guide on how to restore it only via cwm (not odin)?
Please
If you used the search button you would have found the answer. In a nutshell, cm7 and stock use different file systems so you cannot use can to revert. Either change file system or use Odin......

Then that's weird . It's impossible to make a backup of an rfs filesystem
This was sent from a Galaxy Ace. Problem?
Well same problem here. "You can't restore a rfs based partition backup on ext based partition."
You have to flash with odin to go back to Stock.
Or try this, i'm not sure if it'll work:
Download "ext4 manager" app by cf-root team> then convert filesystem to rfs> Restore backup after that.
Hope it'll work
1. Flash original firmware with Odin.
2. Install CWM recovery.
3. Restore original firmware backup.
It's the easiest way and it worked for me.

[Q] Where has my root gone? (Not able to Root after Odin Flash!)

Hey Guys, I flashed DDKQ8 firmware yesterday via Odin. Before that, yes my SGA was rooted and I was using CM10.1 + PurePerformance Patch + S2E on DDKQ5 firmware. (I took a Nandroid backup of it, before I flashed DDKQ8 via Odin)
After Odin flash, I used Universal gb root and there was a Super SU app in my application menu, I actually never bothered to open it up, and again went to the stock recovery to flash CWM 5.0.2.6 custom recovery.
After it, I wiped SGA to factory settings (and other blah blah) and restored my nandroid backup.
Since this point, I don't have a Root Access on my phone!
I tried flashing old upd_1.zip over it. Doesn't work..
I tried flashing universal gb UNROOT, Doesn't work.
I tried flashing universal gb ROOT again.. Doesn't work.
I tried flashing OLD unroot.zip over it.. Doesn't work.
I don't have a root access anymore on my phone! S2E from old Nandroid Backup, Doesn't work.. All newly installed applications are being installed in internal space,.. However, old applications are mounted under sd-ext and works fine!
Any suggestions? Or should I just flash it via Odin again?

If you want to revert back to stock from cm11.you have to flash the stock ROM through Odin then root it then flash cocore kernel and restore nandroid backup.
If not want to go through PC then
First flash custom ROM 4.3 make all wipes and format then flash cm 10.1 with all wipes and format (especially /preload partition) flash cocore again wipe all then restore nandroid backup.

Why would somebody give you this backup considering that it contains data, settings and personal information?
As I see in your signature you have a totally different phone model than Galaxy S Advance GT-I9070, can you be more specific with what you need?

There is no "best rom".
I told you to install Samsung USB drivers, not Kies. Sometimes Kies is making you a problem when you are in Download mode. Turn it off on PC, remove it in Task manager too.

The phone is too old to stay many developers (not much left) :crying:
Here is CWM: update.zip
If you need kernel, then after flash this: [Kernel][3.0.101] MK kernel r6
I think these files are only going on I9070 phone. I'm not sure that will be fine on i9070p.

Oh yeah great suggestion
Tomorrow i prepare ODIN and flash the latest official rom. After that from stock recovery i thinks i can flash the root.zip for root access....... using flashify for installing recovery and after that finally installed this 10.2 and after that install the kernel here.
I thinks it's not the best solution...... but it's but it's better than nothing I need only to use this i9070 only for emergency or backup smartphone

This is the right order for me after Odin;
in recovery: wipe, flash update.zip, flash mkkernel zip, flash root.zip and then custom rom + gapps.
I don't flash kernel on custom rom. You know that you need it or not. I think that's unnecessary. I would rather flashing kernel before flashing custom rom.
