with this works http://dfiles.eu/files/iprla3v7g?redirect
you must install the normal driver and after you have to install another driver manually

Not really sure if I'll try since the .exe lg drives you gave me is the same as the one I tried before.
The only way I believe I could overcome this is to install manually the lg drivers but I don't know where to find the files to do so

you can try to do it from the folder (in your C://) and after that in my folder (there are two important files). Can you see if there is the driver folder in C:?

Well I plugged the phone to the PC in S/W mode and it automatically installed the modem and usb drivers...
However whenever I connect the phone to the PC in LG software mode it appears in device manager as "unknown device" and windows does not find any compatible drivers on the LG folder nor anywhere else on the PC for that matter.
Any other ideas?

I dont use win8 myself, so i can only guess. Go to the driver installer .exe file, right click it and see, if you can maybe set compatibility mode in it to windows 7. Also make sure you run it as admin. And if that also doesnt work, how about disabling your anti virus and all other programs you dont need at that moment and try then?

The only thing i haven't tried is running in compatibility mode

Yet another failed attempt...
I'm giving up the only way I would try again is if I get the driver in a file compatible with manual instalation

I 've downloaded the LG thrill driver and everytime I connect the phone to my pc, drives E and F pop up but when I click on them it says please insert disk into drive. I've formatted the F drive and still the same thing. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Did you mount them on your phone? In your notification bar, there should be a notification that you connected a USB and if you click on it, it should give you the option to connect to the PC.

When you installed the drivers, did it show that all of them were successfully installed? Maybe try re-installing them?
Did you go into sd and storage settings and uncheck mass storage mode only? Uncheck that to enable the other usb modes and devices.

Which cable are you using? have you tried a different one?
when you put the drivers on did you manually install them or did you run through the process windows does after plugging in the phone
And are you positive you got the correct drivers? Remember...uninstall the old drivers before attempting new install

[Q] Rooting w/o USB connection

Hi, guys! I have a really big problem :/. Right now I'm using the stock 2.3.4 gingerbread from LG ,but you all know that this is the worst OS ever. I wanted to get rid of it but i cant connect my device to the computer. It's only charging. I need a way to root it w/o usb connection. Do u have any suggestions? It's not a software problem! Something inside the phone is broken and i don't know what it is. Is there a way to root it via bluetooth or SD card? I didn't find any apps to root it too. I know gingerbreak etc, but they dont work for 2.3.4. Thank you in advance and i hope there is a solution. :fingers-crossed:
I am afraid you can't. Replacing your micro usb port could solve your problem. I reccomend to buy a micro usb port which is already on the flexible cable so you can avoid ironing.

So i'll need this? I asked a staff member in a service station and he said that the port isnt broken. So i need the whole thing port+flexible cable? Is that what i should do? Thanks alot. Ohh man i cant post links still: http:___//i.ebayimg.com/t/LG-G2X-Optimus-2X-P990-P999-Micro-USB-Charging-Port-Flex-Cable-Repair-Part-/00/s/OTU1WDE0MDI=/z/unUAAOxy9DRSAoTf/$T2eC16R,!wsE9suwycosBS!oTe7+VQ~~60_57.JPG
stupid question: did you try another usb cable or usb port?
Yeah, dude. Of course. I've tried different settings like usb debugging on/off too but still nothing.
here are some articles you might want to check out regarding usb connection

i forgot how the mass storage settings in gingerbread look like but there should be an option to put the phone in "charge only" mode (which you should disable)... pressing menu key in settings > storage doesn't give you any options to choose?
In gingerbread you can only turn usb mass storage and usb debugging on/off. These settings didn't help. I'll read more about the first link you gave me and try it out.

This is quite challenge, root without usb connection. First idea I got to use ADB over WiFi, but this is available from ICS, not on GB.
Second idea - what I remember, some of root methods use APK installation over ADB by script. Maybe you can search for these script methods and place all required files on SD Card. Then try to execute commands by terminal on device itself to install and root.
It's just my idea, maybe wrong, maybe help.

Yes that is what you need if you have to replace your USB port but you don't have skills to replace only the usb port.
You can try gingerbreak to root your phone, but it maybe won't work.

Guys, the problem is not in the computer nor in the cable, it's in the phone. I'm 99% sure that it's a hardware problem. So i need to find a way to root or flash it without using usb connection.
i'm somehow sure that the real problem here is the device driver installation on your PC/Windows, not the phone...
btw which windows version are you using?
did you try checking out the AIO tool thread?

if you read the 1st post, you might find out how could it help you... especially if you use win 8 which caused problems for many other users when trying to install the drivers or trying to flash the phone...
I - Install APX (NVFlash Recovery) Drivers if not already installed.
It starts the windows device driver wizard to help you install the drivers needed for NVFlash. It detects your system OS and gives additional on-screen instructions needed if your PC is running Windows 8.
FYI: The drivers are located under ToolKitFiles\nvflash\driver folder.

I use windows 8 from a week. Anything i've done before was on a xp/ win 7. The problem isnt in the win 8 i use now. I've tried everything on my xp laptop. I have a friend who has the same phone and he can connect it to his computer so everything is fine with his computer. I've tried to connect my optimus to his computer and again it wasnt found by the computer. The problem must be in my device.

u said that u wanted to get rid of the lg gingerbread software, and for that u dont really need to root, u could use the all in one toolkit and flash the new unlocked bootloader with cwm or twrp and install the new bootloader rom u want its as easy as that

[q] i messed up and now i can't boot

Hey so today I decided to updato to one of the 4.4 roms.
So I downloaded the rom + an update do CWM.
Since I installed CWM on my htc one I updated to windows 8.1 so I have no drivers for the fast boot or anything installed and had no idea that there where problems installing those in windows 8.1.
So just to test i jumped on my old CWM 6.0.3.2 and tried installing the rom this one->(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2520076)
No sucess.
So I thought no problem I update cwm and then try again. Problem is after trying installing the new rom and failing I can't boot into my previous rom.
Now I can't update the rocovery and I don't have any other roms rather then the one that doesn't work on my phone.
I'm kinda freaking out about all this since I have been trying to fix this for the last 2 hours without any success.
Please if someone could point me in the right direction I will be incredibly thankfull

First of all don't panic
Follow this thread to install drivers on your device http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2232799
grab fastboot platform tools from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1590800, don't worry about all the text just download platform tools file unzip and place folder on your desktop. Once inside the folder on a blank spot hold down shift key on your keyboard and right mouse click, you should see and Option to 'Open a Command window here" do that, then you should be OK from there (if you have installed drivers)
type "adb reboot bootloader", this should take your device to fastboot mode, then type "fastboot erase cache" and then try booting into your phone into recovery it should fire up, if it doesn't simply reflash recovery and erase cache again. (you can also side load a ROM if you have to in recovery (but once you get your drivers installed you should be able to place ROM directly on SD Card or install the nandroid backup)
Hope this helps

First of all thanks for stopping by
Secondly I'm kinda freaking out because I simply can't follow the tutorial on the first link you sent me.
I simply can't install the drivers, once I go to fastboot mode, my htc on is detected as unknown USB device and once I select the downladed drivers from that thread and go to device manager to change the drivers, It simply says I have the last one and doesn't install anything...
I did a little research and found that in windows 8.1 you need to disable driver verification on the advanced boot option, did that, did nothing to help me and my situation.
Any advice?

Right I've already looked at a similar tutorial and in device manager I have 2 entries for Renesas USB 3 nothing saying intel. But once I click them I find that the driver version and driver provider and date, is exacly the same as the ones shown on the tutorial. Problem is once I go to update the driver and browse to the x64 folder (where I place the modified files) it does exactly nothing just like it does when I try to update the drivers of the HTC one when in fast boot...
Did you try downloading HTC sync from HTC them self's?
I'm running 8.1 and the official HTC sync drivers work just fine. Uninstall any previous HTC drivers and restart before installing HTC sync. Then after all that plug in the phone in fastboot and verify that its installed and recognized.
Then use HTC one all in one tool or some other similar app and use it to sideload a rom

After trying and failing to update the fastboot drivers I installed htc sync and rebooted. Still have the same problem. Now I may have not unnistalled the previous drivers that allowed me to access the htc one storage normaly when a rom is installed so that maybe the issue.
How would you unnistall the previous drivers? Are they in the device manager?

If it was the htc driver install program then you would uninstall it like any other program. If you did it manually by going into device manager then simply find the device and uninstall it from within device manager.. It should give you an option to delete the drivers after uninstall

So I take a break because I'm getting kinda worried about all this and really needed to "Chill the F*** down"
So I tried your idea, went to the control panel and unnistalled HTC sync and HTC drivers and iptinstaller (I think this one is installed with HTC sync), then I rebooted and installed htc sync again, rebooted and then booted my phone up and went to fastboot, then plugged the usb cable (that is plugged in a motherboard port not in the front pannel) to the phone, it displayed FASTBOOT USB as normal, waited a couple of seconds for windows to say that the device is not recognized as it did before...
Any thoughts? My biggest issue is that I have 2 hours to fix this since tomorrow I really need this phone...that's whats freaking me out
Any idea or anyway to fix this will be trully appreciated since At the moment I literelly don't know what to do anymore...
If after uninstalling the phone and the drivers then installing HTC sync and the problem has not been fixed.
Fastest way would be using Linux since the drivers are made by you essentially. And fastboot and adb are installed and recognized

About the drivers I simply could not get anything to work anything, hopefully someone should figure it out.
Just a quick and much more simple question, how can I update my recovery to the last CWM version?
I tried rom manager which only shows a version before the last one and I wanted to see if the last one worked with the 4.4 rom.
Anyways thanks for everyone who trie to help me in the first place it's much appreciated

Did you disable the driver signing on Windows 8? That's got to be done before any of the driver installation or adb/fastboot setup stuff.
I can help you get it figured out via team viewer maybe later tonight. The latest TWRP would probably solve your issue, it works for the new 4.4 roms, the goo.im app would probably install it but you really need to be using fastboot and adb if you're going to be flashing stuff.
Once you get the driver issue solved you just download the recovery, it will be a .img file, drop it in the right folder, rename recovery.img, and type the command: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img.

As far as I know, On windows 8.1 With a H.Boot of 1.54 or above ADB/Fastboot will not work in the recovery? Not 100% sure, just read it somewhere on here, have you recently updated to 8.1? Failing that, reinstall HTC Sync, Reboot, Then uninstall HTC Sync (-JUST- HTC Sync, when it asks leave the drivers installed) Then reboot again, and try again, thats what I did when my ADB Stopped working and it got it going again
Hope you get it sorted soon.

Error device not found

I don't know how much this comes up but, my one can't use adb. I've gotten the required drivers and usb debugging checked on. Still says device not found. I've tried changing cables, computers and resetting my phone and no dice. I'm kinda at a loss on what to do. I'm running the 4.3 original sprint.

My pc at home works just fine...my work pc on the other hand has this same issue. Home pc is 32 bit, work pc is 64 bit. It's either something driver related or because it's 64 bit, I haven't had a chance to really diagnose yet. I would start by completely removing htc drivers and try again. Or maybe try a different pc if no luck getting it to work. This weekend I will try to get it working on my work pc and report back what I figured out.
That's the weird thing about it. I've reinstalled drivers, put it on different computers, x64 bit included and nothing works it just says device not

From what I can find about the "Offline" status is that you need to update your Android-Sdk there have been quite a few updates recently.
Also try this for configuring your drivers correctly
(If you are using Windows 8.1 this will most likely not work)
On your PC go to device manager and find your phone(usually M7WLS), right click and select properties
Select the driver tab
Select update driver
Select browse my comp
Let me pick
Look for ADB USB device or similar should be one of the first couple choices
Select MyHTC install and you should be good
That's the thing my old sdk was working fine that's the thing I have the drivers updated ok. It recognized my device but it shows my phone to be offline.

When I went to Device Manager, my HTC One showed up as MTP USB Device instead of ADB. Could you shine a little light on it for me? This is my first time trying to unlock and root my device. What software/driver I would need? So far I only have the HTC Driver installed.
Thank you

Uninstall everything HTC
Unplug your phone
Reboot your PC
Install these drivers
Plug in phone and let it install the drivers(it will install drivers in recovery, bootloader, and booted to your OS)
Then do the steps I posted if you still have problems.
I followed what you did, and followed the instruction you posted earlier as well. I went to Driver tab and tried to update the drive and there wasn't an option for ADB USB Devices. I unchecked the recommended box and still came up with nothing :/ Is there anything else I need to install?
Sorry to bother you again

That is the way I always fix driver issues. I'm kinda out of ideas. I'm usually fixing someones phone remotely so without being able to see your PC I can't offer any other advice.
BTW do you happen to be using Windows 8.1?

I had to update the SDK and the computer was able to recognize my HTC One. Not sure if you have encounter this before...
I unlocked my phone, install TWRP 2.500 with Toolkit v3.1. And when I went into the recovery, the touch screen won't work. I did some research and it seems I need to install new version of TWRP. However, I'm not sure how to install it without using the toolkit... and most people talked about GooManager... but my device isn't rooted yet... I was gonna root it using TWRP but the touch screen wouldn't work. So I'm stuck :/

You could try installing the drivers manually. Does a device show up in Windows' Device Manager when the phone is plugged in?

i installed drivers manually and i uploaded photo of Device manager
is the problem from my phone or from my PC ?
thanks for Help
sorry of the bad English not my first Lang.
Your device does show up in the device manager, so that's a good sign! Can you see what the exclamation mark means in the properties?
Same problem here...
Tried with another P880 on same computer and it was found.
ADB works, and access to SD-cards (internal/external) works just fine.
Only thing that doesn't work is PC Suite, it just doesn't find the rooted device.
Any ideas?
Which OS you are on? I am on windows 8.1 and i had to install Windows Media Feature Pack for N and KN versions of Windows 8.1 to manage to access phones memory.
