Every time I reboot my handset (joker ROM btw) I have to wait for android to optimize apps and upgrade. Why does this happen and how would I go about changing that? Also the keyboard issue. It always defaults to the android default instead of the SlideIT keyboard. How do I fix these two issues?
Sent from my Atrix HD using xda app-developers app
Mine does the same thing with the optimizing. For the keyboard I backed it up with titanium then uninstalled and restored from backup.

Strange that has not happen to me so far but try flashing the rom again full wipe

Will do, it's really pissing me off

Mine does the same. It usually does that when you install an app as system app and it's building the dalvik cache for it.

That I could tolerate but it seems to do so no matter what, I'll experiment with if more.

i happens when u flash gapps on top of Joker, i didn't flash gapps & manually installed all the apps i need. now i don't get that apps loading screen on start up & my phone is super clean also everything works fine without gapps.
factory reset also removes that apps loading screen, do this if you need gapps.

Hi my wife's galaxy s has started turning the screen on at random..and continuously sometimes. This as we know will start ruining the battery.I've had many issues with her ics. For some reason since installing a kernel. It messed it all up somehow the remains of the boot image or kernel etc is still onboard thankfully I still can boot her. Can't apply custom roms at all. I can send an official rom from the PC but that's it. I managed to get gb on. Its started randomly turning the screen on. Fairly certain its not the rom she's had it since last year
Any ideas? Is there anyway to totally strip the phone of virtually everything to the core and start against

If you think its a kernel issue you could run a kernel cleaner script then reflash, but my sgs did this when it got water damage almost exactly as your described

Thanks for the reply do you know where the kernel script is?

Do a nandroid backup. Then copy necessary files to SD card (rom, kernel, modem, whatever.)
Then format /system and do a factory reset. Then do a fresh install of your kernel and rom.
Then in cwm go to backup and restore, advanced restore, and restore her data!
Then your phone is fresh .

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1166954 here you go read the guide and flash it , I seriously doubt the other suggestion will work as the nandroid backup restores it to exactly how it was before I mean like if your wifi was left on it will be on after you restore exact, so what ever bug is doing this will almost defiantly restore aswell
Sent from my GT-I9000 running remICS-UX using XDA premium
It will work we are just saving data like settings and apps.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda app-developers app
Ill just back up apps. And SMS etc that's it. Need a new rom anyway

It backs all the system apps up aswell and every single thing so if there is a bug it will restore that aswell... your better off just redownloading the Alps from play market after and using a sms backup app if you want a clean install

Plz someone help! This really annoys me. I can't even click some links because of that
Did you try reflashing the newest GAPPS Apk in the recovery mode ? That worked when my phone had issues with the Google Software...
Good luck
Actually i didn't flash newest gapps but i will flash gapps again when i flash 9.1 stable to my sgs. Do i have to wipe anything if i flash gapps?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda app-developers app
it wouldnt hurt to wipe cache and dalvik cache. if the problem still exists try uninstalling the talkback app via an root uninstaller and then flash newest gapps again.
greets
Hello,
I recently one click sbf'd to 890 to remove haters rom due to an abundance of camera bugs... when I reflashed, everything worked properly then I updated to 960 through OTA, now whenever I use the camera it says could not be initialized. I've tried googling how to reflash or reinstall the camera app. No one has been able to give anything solid.
What would you guys suggest? Any links to a zip I can flash through safestrap?
Thanks.

Try wiping the data for the app. I would also wipe the data of camcorder as well.

I have a Nook HD running CM 10.1 - 20130801 UNOFFICIAL -hummingbird ROM and [email protected] kernal. For the last month or so I have been getting random freezes and restarts. I keep downloading updates but they won't install.
Is it worth staying with this ROM or should I move to something else at this point? Is there one out there with Nightlies? I have attempted to go through the ROMs section but there are so many different ones there its very confusing.

I recommend going to CM10.1.3 stable. Start fresh with a new install by factory reseting.

Is there a particular way to factory reset? Or do I just go into the settings on the tablet and do it from there? I am familiar with phones but not with tablets of this nature.
Also, are there no Nightly ROMS for the HD?

Use CWM to factory reset. And there are nightlies, but they are CM11 and are bleeding edge. I thought you wanted stable.

Yes I do want stable. OK so the CM10.1.3 stable is the best option at this point. Right I will have to work on it here at work on Thursday as I don't have all my SD Cards here etc.

I have been running 10.1.3 stable since February. Yesterday my Nook HD started doing the exact same thing. It would freeze then restart. I couldn't even shut it down. It just restarted when I held down the power button.

Do you have Play Store set to automatically update your apps? If so, one of your apps may have updated and is causing that problem.

Yes I do. The Nook was in my car yesterday for a few hours in 100+ temps. I wonder if the heat could have damaged something.

I was having the same issue (freezing, shut downs and reboots) when I was using stable and snapshot builds so I did a full wipe and switched to CM11 nightlies and haven't had that issue since

By full wipe, do you mean data, cache and Dalvik? And you do this before installing the nightly and gapps?

A full wipe generally means a factory reset with CWM. That wipes /data, /cache, and dalvik. But it leaves intact your /sdcard that has your media files. And yes, that is usually done before rebooting from CWM either before or after flashing the nightly and gapps. But remember, if moving to CM11 and associated gapps you must use CWM v6045 or higher.

I think I have a hardware problem. Mine started freezing and rebooting on 10.1.3. I did a factory reset with CWM and installed 10.2.1. After less than a day, it started doing the same thing. If it's not hardware then I've got a very poorly behaving app but tracing that down would be difficult.

Why not;
-wipe/factory reset
-install the latest nightly (No Gapps)
-No extra apps just bare bones vanilla cm
-use it for a day browsing, checking out vids
-all goes well after one day start installing your apps one at a time
Narrow the issue down...I would figure if its having those issues even with a bare bones install then perhaps you do have a hardware issue but I doubt you do

During the initial setup, after you've entered your gmail account info, there is an option for you to Restore from Google servers or something (can't remember the exact wording, sorry)? Uncheck the box and that should stop the auto download.
sometimes when I forget to untick that I immediately go into the play store and cancel all of the installs one by one manually and usually catch most of them
