[Q] Can someone help me with a batakang problem? - Motorola Atrix HD

So, I just rooted about an hour ago and started reading up on Safe Strap 3 and the only flashable ROM I've seen, Batakang. Well I installed and set up SS3 and created a ROM slot, then flashed the Batakang zip and the gapps zip that went with it. The problem is once I booted into batakang none of the Google apps were there. I can't figure out the problem because I'm almost completely certain I flashed everything correctly and it was the most current gapps zip. Can anyone give me an idea what the problem might be?
I also noticed once I was on Batakang that the home soft key no longer worked at all. I could press it and it would highlight and make the vibration feedback, but it wouldn't take me to the home screen or open the app drawer like it's supposed to. Could this just be by design? or maybe just a glitch?
This is my first experience using Safe Strap so any tips for that would be appreciated as well. Thanks!

Reflash. Make sure you flash ROM and gapps and make sure its a clean wipe.

I did a factory wipe and reflashed everything but still have no gapps. Play music shows up but that's the only one. No play store, gmail, maps, or anything else. I'm confused.

What gapps did you use?

How do I do that? I kind of think I did it, but I'm new to SS3 so I'd like to be sure I'm doing it right.

BootManager FAQ & Discussion

I figured we needed a thread to discuss the BootManager app.
First, big thumbs up to GFlam & Conap for this app! I used Conap's CELEB CM Roms on the Eris for a long time.
Now:
They have a User Manual on their site.
What does it do? You keep your rom on the phone, and you can add up to 4 more on your SD card. You use the app's menu to select which one you want to boot into next.
What is it? it is an apk you can get from the market. It lives on your phone. It doesn't mess with Clockwork and such.
What's the catch? There is something you have to pay attention to...It requires a connection to the market to verify it's authenticity. So, whenever you add a new rom, you need to connect it to the market...the trick: you need to flash gapps right after you flash a rom before you boot into it.
What If I forgot to flash gapps?!? No big deal. If you boot into a rom you installed that doesn't have the market, the BootManager app won't work, so you can't use it to boot back into another rom. They have a solution - boot into recovery and flash the "update.zip" located in the bootmanager>phonerom folder on your sd. Then your phone will reboot into your internal phone rom.
What's the catch, part 2? Some roms have custom scripts that run when they boot, so they don't play well, especially when installed on the SD card.
What else do I need to know? Rom installs take longer. After installing, the roms on the sd card do not lag. You can back up the roms that you install through the app.
This is a dream for people who want to play with nightlies or try a bunch of roms, but need their old-reliable come Monday morning. Check it out!

Disclaimer: I have no affliliation with Init 2 Win It. I just love this app.
I'll start with a question, too. I put BAMF3.0 rc 4.9 in an SD slot. When I boot in, everything works except Titanium Backup can't find root. Anyone else have this problem?

Interesting. I'm having a similar problem with MyBackup Pro. The app would request SU permission but then it never acknowledged that it had it. I also had BAMF 3.0 Rc 4.9 running off SD

I haven't tried the MIUI yet. It might be another with a custom boot script.
You could try to install it as the internal phoneROM and see if it works. If it doesn't you'll need to restore a nand backup.
Good luck, should you choose to accept this mission. This post will self-destruct in 3...2...1...
ok so maybe someone can help me. im trying to flash CM7 and i flashed it and forgot to flash the GAPPS thing before a reboot. i got back into my original rom and im ready to try it again. i have CM& ready to flash, but how do i flash GAPPS before the reboot? do i do the flash of GAPPS from within bootmanager, rom manager, or hboot? thanks!
Flash gapps through bootmanager just like the rom, in the same slot. Dont wipe anything.

That's why I'm here.
disappointed that the synergy nightlies flashed to a slot put me in a boot loop. but was excited that all i had to do to fix it was flash the update.zip under bootmanager/phone
Maybe I'm missing something but where can I find the gapps zip/ every time I try to boot from the app, its telling me either no Rom installed or no image found
I installed all 3 versions of the recently leaked GB ROM using bootmanager and interesting NONE of them will boot up. Best I can tell from adb logcat is that the ROM does a memory test and the wrong memory type is returned causing a boot loop at that point.
Smells like a bit of copy protection testing going on.
Yea something's not working right with the app... I can't get any Rom to install.....

A lot of the Sense roms fail. I have Monolith running fine.
Hey there, just wondering of anyone else is having the problem of Sd card space going into limbo if the ROM install doesn't go well (i'm talking the install or back up glitches and doesn't finish, not it actually finishing and getting a boot loop. I've tried wiping cache/dalvik cache, all the cleaning functions within the app. Deleting the slots and wiping the slots didn't work either. Like I said it seems to be in limbo, and don't feel like moving all my data off my card and reformatting every time this occurs. Any ideas?
Hey guys,
I love this app. I also had some problems but now I have Gingeritis as my phoneRom and switch between SHIFTS3NS3 and BAMF which are all gb roms.
The trick I found was that if it doesn't load the first time keep trying, it took me about two tries to load SHIFTS3NS3 and about 3 for bamf. Make sure you use ext2.
Also make sure your phone stays awake.
If you have an issue email the Devs they responded to me with in 10 min of the email.
Great app

[ROM][FRUITCAKE] en.UK Stock 2.3.4 ROOTED - Made With ROM Factory

It appears that the package is broken. For the time being I have no way of remaking it. I hopefully soon will be able to make it again.
The other day I managed to get my hands on a UK ATRIX that was still running the official 2.3.4 rom (T-Mobile I think) so I stuck ROM Factory on it and made a fruitcake of it for your enjoyment.
As always with custom ROMs I am not responsible for anything you do to your device, you don't have to flash this if you don't want to!.
Also this is the first time I have used Rom Factory to do anything and I am completely unable to test it as the phone I made it from has an locked bootloader (does this matter?) so again flash with caution.
Features:
Rooted
No Webtop (Sorry )

Yup. It is exactly that. It has no unique features other than the fact that it is the stock UK ROM that went missing at the same time as all of the file sharing websites in the form of a fruitcake.
Has anyone tried it to see if it works? I still have to phone (locked bootloader & It's not mine) I made it from (though not for much longer) and can have another go!
Thanks, I'll try it when I get back home.

Tried this yesterday. Had CM7 latest nightly running. Did a full wipe and clean install. But unfortunately, it kept booting into CM7 (not the one I had before flashing). I anyways tried logging into my Google account and the setup wizard force closed every time I tried. Had to revert to my previous setup
Not sure if I did anything wrong, I know the usual drill of installing custom ROMs.
Did anyone else give a try?

Very odd issue... Is it because the device I made it from has a locked bootloader? You say that the rom didn't flash (or did but not properly) what did the install script in CWM say?
Sorry I don't have the device any longer so I won't be able to do anything with re making the fruitcake :crying: as I have had to give it back.

The script said that the flash was successful. Also it said that I should not forget to wipe cache and data, which I did anyways. No errors in the install script.
Not sure if the zip had the original ROM, coz it was booting into CM7, which is obviously not what you are trying to do. I did a full wipe, 3 times, so I guess there is no possibility for it to boot into my previous installation of CM7 nightly.
I saw your PM. Thanks. I will try today if I get some time off work and let you know.

The zip is 200MB this would make you think that it includes the stuff. I have just extracted it an the .zip only contains the edify script for installing the rom nothing else. Derp.

Yes you must be on the Jellybean leak, rooted, with Safestrap 3.0 installed.

Well you can go to leaked Jellybean for AT&T if you are boot loader unlocked... You flash system and boot.IMG from ATT 77.12.22 then boot to stock recovery and install the jellybean leak after the normal root procedure ( root, ota root keeper, etc) see the threads for those Also might need to wipe data when flashing att files or boot loop.

Update:
First I tried it without gapps. Everything booted fine, but there was no market nor would accounts/ sync let me add Google account.
So, I rebooted into recovery, which worked fine, and flashed gapps.
This time on boot, I actually got the Droid X welcome screen, was able to put in Google info, and market initiator ran and updated.
After that everything worked fine.
Tested Bluetooth, Messages, Gps and Calls. Didn't get chance to try Wifi yet, but I'm sure it works since everything-else does.
The only thing that Would be better is an updated Superuser. The 1 included will NOT update SU Binary. I think it's the old edify binary. Even by updating Superuser in the market WON'T help. Although an easy fix is to get RootUninstaller and uninstall Rom Superuser, then download new 1 from the market and install.
Keep up the hard work. Nice Rom.
Finally, does this works for any other gb kernel besides .621?
Anybody please tell us!

Oh yea, I also got to looking into your system/app folder in your zip. The vending.apk is Not in there, which i would say is why I had to flash the gapps. Just wanted you to know.

I tried this again but, I think the real problem is with my microSD card. I have subsequently tried to flash other roms and have had other aborts as well. I know that the md5's on those checked out. I was able to flash a cm9 based rom and got it set up just fine. All this from the same card on the same phone. Sooo I am attempting to format the card just in case I have bad sectors or something.
Luckily my DX is no longer activated and just keeps me from killing my SGS3 with flashes.:silly:

I hear ya, I had the same prob with sd card so i formatted mine as well, problem was still there though. whenever i tried to install a rom from sd card via rom manager the problem was i kept getting the message saying waiting for sd cart to mount then it would say error bla bla bla sending log file to cwm ect ect ect.... i dont know exactally how i fixed that, all i know is i installed another rom, like cm7 or cm9 for instance and after that whenever i went to back up rom it worked fine ever since.... maybe something flashes over correcting the sd card problem when you install a rom... I know rom manager checks to verify the marker on sd card and thats what your problem is I believe.
Try doing this, try installing a rom cm7/cm9 without making a backup (i know you could lose everything if it fails but its the only way i know that fixed mine) after you have installed cm7/9 go to rom manager and hit the Backup Current Rom it should reboot you to cwm recovery and make an auto backup, if it does this without throwing up the waiting for sd card to mount error stuff and it runs the backup program and then reboots you it should fix your sd card problems.....
Review this rom

Enjoy the pull-down toggles & customizable soft-keys!!
[edit: attached my screenshots; everything seems to work on ICS except the sensors & gps]
no go on JB 4.1.1, stuck in boot animation for 10mins twice.

I was simply curious and discovered that this RAZR HD ROM works (almost perfectly!) on my AHD running ICS. I assume this should fully work for JB, because it's made for that kernel. So if you're on JB, please try it and let us know.

What do you mean by almost perfectly... what was and was not working? Im still running on ICS and would love to get cm10 on my device.
JB 4.1.1 it boots for me but I get Encryption Unsuccessful. No go.

I can get the JB rom to boot, but i get a message about phone not successfully encrypted and requires a reset, wiping data now to see if it will work.
(installing to rom slot using safestrap)

Can you try deleting slot1 from Boot Options and creating a new one from scratch, wipe, then re-flash (and cross your fingers).

Is this the error message you guys are talking about? Also are you flashing to a freshly wiped (cache, dalvik, sys, factory data) slot or over an existing rom (i.e. dirty and not recommended)?

If that's the bug then there is a fix for it, but I didn't encounter that at all on ics.
Clean flash. I have already seen that guide but we don't have partitioning in SS.

Damn this encryption bug. I did not see that coming due to simply being on JB.
I saw another thread say that removing the microsd and rebooting a couple of times might get you past the error message. This isn't ideal and reinserting would probably bring it back, but if it works we could then determine if all the sensors work on JB.
Nothing works on my side either I tried reboots w/o SD and tried booting off another ROM and then installing no-go

Yeah that solution seems impractical. I think a simpler solution would be to work around the internal "sdcard." I'd remove anything that involves mounting/reading that area (/data/media) and see if it boots up then. I took a look at Batakang's init files and I noticed that his omit the /storage lines that this CM10 includes.
But my first priorities are these two cpa exams on the 14th and 28th. I've been wasting too much time on this new phone :/

This boots up just fine. The ROM creator himself says it can be flashed with Safestrap: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1993888
The issue is getting past the "Encryption Unsuccessful" message for those on JB. From what I've read it's because the internal sdcard cannot fully read. (Maybe a factory reset & SD wipe via stock would help by erasing any encrypted data?)

No. Its because we use a bootstrap recovery. I don't think its SS compatible because the Encryption Unsuccessful error only happens because of the incompatibility.
