Hi
My messaging app always showing 1 unread sms notification. Even if there is 3 unread or there is no unread sms it shows 1.
I tried deleting all messages. Not worked.
Removed the app from system app folder by root explorer and re put to folder. Not worked.
Tried to remove by titanium back up, it force closes every time.
Does anybody knows a solution for that.
Please help.
Thanks

I use handcent and I'm sick of getting 2 notifications everytime I get a message so I wanna delete the default messaging app

Just go into settings on the stock messgaing app and turn off notifications.
But I want it gone like forever

What for? Why does it bother you? It doesn't take app space.
You can't do it without root, anyway.
Does Handcent rely on the stock app for info or would it work as a standalone?
Anyways, disabling notifications from your messaging app can be confusing the first time. First you'll have to hit menu>more>show all threads. When you are on all the all threads screen you hit menu then preferences (settings) and all the way towards the bottom, uncheck notification.
i was thinking handcent relies on the stock messenger app, but i am not sure any more.. it could be stand alone, best way to find out is pull the stock messenger app from system/app then do a remove and test.. if get FC or wierd problems jus push the apk back in and reboot!
So in under contacts there is this history tab, it shows everything that happened with a conact, calls, sms etc.
Even if, for example, you delete ur sms from ur message app, they continue to appear there.
How can I delete them or have it so they dont appear anymore? Filters reset whenever the app is killed on task manager.
Any help eill br appreciated, thanks

Hi.
I'm on Voda UK and my SMS notification won't clear, even after I've read the message. The notification light stops flashing, but I still show a (1) on the SMS icon. I cleared out all the texts the first couple of times to check there wasn't a message I had missed and it worked once the box was empty, but I don't want to keep doing that, for obvious reasons.
Is this a solvable problem? Ta!
Restart your phone.

I had the same problem too, only way to get rid of the sms notification counter was by deleting the text but next time it happens I'll try the restart option.
Does not help to restart phone...I have same problem!

I have restarted, removed battery, hard boot, still says I have 12 new messages and I have none. I have deleted all text messages, all mms, no luck!
Im using textra sms which is fast and simple. I just freeze the inbuilt messaging app using titanium backup.
Textra working good. Then i switched to chomp SMS (from the same developer of textra). But the problem is, I didn't receive any message in chomp SMS after uninstalling textra. But Chomp SMS working with textra or stock. I can manage if there is no notification sound, but the problem is there is no message receiving What may be the problem?
You said chomp works with stock/textra. Given that you have uninstall textra and freeze stock sms, that maybe why it doesn't work. Try unfreeze. Just a suggestion cuz I don't use any of it.

If i unfreeze it, then ill get two notifications
Oh I see. Have you try reinstalling? Or you can try renaming the mms.apk in system app to mms.apk.bak
Don't know if it makes any difference though.

Problem solved (Partially). I just defrost stock messaging app and turn its notification off. LOL i didn't even know that we can disable the notification only. But still Chomp didn't working independently.
