Hi,
do we know if the SOD problems are software or hardware related? ( Was gonna link to the SOD thread at Sony, but cant because of few posts. But google "Xperia V random freeze in standby" and your there..)
I am about to send my phone in for service, but since this will propably take a couple of weeks im hoping a software fix would be released.

Anyone that can confirm that SOD problems disappeared on custom rom?
And if so, which rom?
I set the minimal CPU speed to 486 MHz and it helps.

So you had SOD, set min cpu and it helped?
Which firmware version?
How frequent was the SOD?
How long without?
I use the latest JB rom. I got 1~2 SoD per day before minimal CPU setting change. Now it stands well for more than two days without SoD. The Wifi is on. Maybe my good luck but worth trying.

with Wifi off and stock ROM, I'm now on 9 days without SoD.
Though my old Ion on the older ROM has never rebooted even once...

Wifi of is not an option. Like a sportscar without an engine, but nice to get solid indications that WiFi actual is the problem. Seems like it would be fixable by software then, if only Sony care to take action.
Hmmm... a SoD again. :crying:

From my experience using Xperia V Stock ROM Singapore FTF Jelly Bean for 3 weeks, I must say that it is the best ROM I ever used for my Xperia V. Better than my stock ROM Malaysia ICS version. Give it a try and feel it.

I don't have any problem regarding SOD with my Malaysia stock ROM ICS. But battery drains really fast and really hot even I do not use it (standby mode). Solution: Flash Singapore Stock ROM JB and walla

This thread is about the SOD( "Sleep of Death") problems that some users have experienced on their Xperia V.
With the purpose of figuring out if this is a hardware( need to get phone replaced) or software( can be fixed by update).
So if you never had any issues with the SOD on your phone, on either ICS or JB, the information about which rom you think is the best do not help with the question asked in this thread. Please read before posting...

I just give my opinion. If this method helped other users fixing their SOD, who knows. I suggested to my friend that have SOD problem (Stock ICS Malaysia) to flash his Xperia V with Stock ROM Singapore, and he has no problem with SOD until now (a week of usage).
Just give it a try.

Have you tried a factory reset? When I had this issue on my Xperia TL, (before I rooted it and installed XperimenT) I uninstalled a ton of apps and disabled the ATT apps. It was doing the SOD every night. I would go through any recent apps you've installed and delete/disable them. If that doesn't work do a factory reset and _slowly_ reinstall apps. I think this is a case where something is interfering with Sony's stock firmware.
for those still having SOD, maybe u can try this. not sure it helps or not. because before i install jellybean, i review the code in build.prop first. so that is why it didnt happen on me for 2 weeks. well, i test it out yesterday.
use either ES file explorer or Root explorer, go to system -> build.prop.
find this line dalvik.vm.heapsize=36m, put a # in front of it to disable this code.
it could be because there is another similar code, thus conflict. u can find another similar line at the bottom of build.prop.
hope it helps!

News? My gf needs a new phone. How to find a fix soon.

Getting sick of the ICS battery and kernel issues and have decided to clean out the phone and install everything fresh.
I am currently on an unrooted stock ICS ROM (N7000XXLRK) and understand that I should go back to a GB ROM first then install ICS. I will search on here for a guide on how to do it (links welcome ) but am confused as to which ROM I should use of the many stock ROMs posted on here.
Since I am going to do a clean install, is it worth going back to the XXLRK ROM or is there an improved one which has sorted the battery kernel issues out? Which GB ROM can I safely go back to without confusing things before I reflash ICS?
Is it recommended that anything else is added or flashed while I have the hood up? Unless there is an uber stable custom ROM I want to stay stock, but will want to root it.

JUST DON'T EVER WIPE WITH STOCK ICS KERNEL. USE A CUSTOM KERNEL LIKE NOTECORE,SPEEDMOD ETC.

upgrading to the latest ICS kernel doesn't necessarily guarantee that your deep sleep and excessive battery usage woes will go away.... your deep sleep and battery drain issues are subjective and have lots of factors that might contribute to it.
Don't let the notion fool you into thinking that your issues(above) will simply be resolve by simply upgrading to the latest firmware. Because I'll tell you now.. it will not still. (infact there have been people complaining that upgrading to the latest ICS one have increase more their battery drain than ever before), unusual as it may seem... but it has been complained about already.
Just like to let you know that...

First thing I am just wondering why this quoting is broked ? looks like something is broken in this thread.

Third I was just answering him the question he asked in "OP"
Fourth if you are facing deep sleep issues or your device is not going to deep sleep mode then OP can try this..
Turn ON the Airplane Mode.
Switch Off your Phone.
Take the battery OUT for a minute or TWO
Put it back and start your phone.
Wait for everything to load
Turn off the Airplane Mode.
After that you can check the same in CPUSPY

Thanks for that.
I have tried the method you describe and also looked at CPUSpy with BBS and on top of that I have the keyboard lockup issue too in Chrome.
It seems that the quality of the phone is completely lower since the ICS updates with it not providing a full day of use on one charge as well as me having to be careful about bleutooth/wifi usage and time that I use the phone to surf. Quite ridiculous really and I haven't had to use a smartphone like this since the days of the HTC Diamond.
Before I revert back to GB and be done with it, I want to try an nice clean ICS install and give it one last chance, unless there is a custom ICS ROM you think I should consider.

Yes, using pc odin you can flash what you like. If you want good battery, it's worth doing a clean install ie perform data wipe/factory reset to clear any old mess, obviously if you're going onto ics make sure you have a safe kernel before performing any wipes at all.
To be honest though, for ICS you're getting pretty good battery life, I doubt you'll top it except going back to GB.
All the best, let us know how you get on.

Yes, I understand that WipeAll is the best way. But this mean, flash safe kernel = root (or can i just flash safe kernel on my stock ICS via PC odin? )
And root ICS = go to GB directly rooted kernel and....etc.
In my old Galaxy Spica I have change kernel or mod (rom) every month but was always just 2.2 froy. So no worry about it.
And still i am reading all thread of all rom in XDA. No rom is perfect. Its working but sometimes some bugs...so i am tired (2 years with Spica) of looking for the best kernel for my note.
Now i want just one normal working with a little good live of battery
btw. What is your live of battery on custom kernel 4.0.3. ? If you say i have pretty good battery i will not it change

Firstly battery: ics swallows a lot more juice than gb, so what you're getting is pretty good. I'm currently on paranoid android jb beta 1.4 with Beastmode kernel and getting roughly 8 hours with 4 hours screen on. I use it a lot! When I was on pure ics 4.03 I was getting around the same.
Roms and kernels: if you flash an already rooted gb, you can do so now with pc odin and it will automatically root. When you've done that, check to see if cwm is installed as it may be part of the package in which case your good to go, if not just flash a Chainfire kernel. Then you have cwm recovery (vol up, home and power) and flash this rom package which includes a safe kernel.
Hope that makes sense.

I presume these ROMs have their kernels built in.
Would you thus recommend one of these custom ROMs for my requirements over say stock ICS with perhaps a different kernel? I am not really looking for lots of features as I would like to build up the apps on my own, ie shut out bloatware. I would like it to be stable and have at least 15 hours of battery life with 3-4 hours screen time, which is what I enjoyed with GB. How do you think CM9 fits in with your selection?
Last flashing I did was on a Dell Streak which was easy as there was only DJ Steve at the time, Seems with the Note I am starting again from scratch, completely different flash process and loads of ROMs. Sort of blinded by it all to be honest

This is most likely your solution. It happens on most, if not all, custom ROMs I've seen in these device forums, didn't think it would happen on a modified stock ROM though.

yeah! ok .thanks u so much i have fix this bùg
This problem appeared in 101 ROM when i tried to used photospere. the mosaic would never align to start the image. So i tried photo 360 to check this. same problem. i checked the gyrocope in service menu. it keeps on rotating even its kept in the stable most place.
so i thought it was a hardware issue, however when i verified the same in 4.3 (569) rom it was perfectly stable. gyrocope would move according the position of the phone. This is where i could conclude that this was a software issue.
And now in 230 (4.4) this problem still exist.
I even verified it with CM 11 ROMS. i didnt have any problem in gyroscope.
Now, is there a way to fix this. as per one of the post this was a kernel problem. if this is a kernel problem what are the things that are needed to fix this. as in any libs or files that may be able to fix this issue. please comment below.
Can the files from CM rom be used to fix this issue?
Please verifiy the same in Xperia Z. you can test it in service menu. gyroscope- if its stable when the phone is stable- you have nothing to worry
Note: i have done PCC repair like so many time so it doesnt really wont. so suggest something else.
Anyone Tested??? Please let me know

Work fine on KitKat. Try to flash .569 ftf and then test it.

yes do you see a rubik cube like image which should move only when the phone moves. if that happens, yo phone has no problem. if that moves even when the phone is in stable position then yo phone has the problem i mentioned.

Mine works as it should
Mine has tiny amounts of drift in the service test menu (almost unnoticeable), but I just tried and I'm able to capture photospheres without difficulty.

What might be the problem here.. I mean it works perfectly well in CM 11 and all the roms prior to 101. im all out of options here
I have no ideas, to be honest. It seems software related if it works for you in earlier roms, but others here are having no problems running the same software version as you. It may be down to a driver supplied by Qualcomm, but it doesn't seem as simple as that.

if its the driver problem is it possible to extract the same from earlier roms so that i can use it in Kitkat. currently im on 569. If so what are the files that needs to be extracted.
Thread closed, wrong section, moreover, duplicate thread exists on ZL section..
I had enough with bugs of 4.4.2
But I never used the 4.3 before, I just bought it new
Should I downgrade? Does 4.3 have bugs?
Try it and see.
I find 4.4.2 rock stable. You say it has bugs.
So no one can tell you, that's the beauty of android. try it yourself and see what you are happy with

Well i am using the latest (14.3.A.0.757) one and I have bugs like;
*Sound delay in few games
*Wifi connectivity is low
*Wifi drops sometimes for no reason
It is not that stable or the problem just with my phone

Personally I've been using android 4.3 on my Xperia Z and it was much smoother for me than kitkat now on Xperia Z1.
So downgrading is a good option, I would do it too, but the viper4android isn't fully supported on 4.3 ROMs.
Maybe using some Custom Roms will solve all your problems?
As I wrote in some threads Evo4 for Z1 is stable as a rock I never had problems with it.
Camera crashes

Does anyone experienced lag and phone crash and random reboots, or when ever I take too many pictures with it?
I tried custom roms like RomAur 8.0, currently I am on rooted stock. But it still does crash and reboot itself.
I bought phone when it was on 4.3 and I never had any crashes then, so now I am also thinking to downgrade it. Any recommendations?

Yep, I have that. Although it's not been crashing when using camera on 761 yet.
But it has crashed once when using mxplayer and once when browsing the movies.
The "camera not available" pops up aswell from time to time.
I tried 4.3 and it never rebooted. Still touchscreen issues though.

Did you try flashing stock FTF to find out if the problem lies in your hardware or is it a software problem?
My best guess is a hardware one I am afraid.
Quote me back if you expect a reply.
Good Luck

Can you please try a STOCK rom and tell me that ? If many people are complaining about it after a specific kernel/Rom, I assume this is a software issue which would be only fixed by a developer who is working on that particular rom/kernel.
Good luck

This confirms the problem is with custom ROM and your hardware is perfectly fine! This could be due to irregular regulation of power in your ROM/ kernel. Have you undervolt it a lot or something like that especially GPU?

Developer of the ROM can in this case. You can change them manually too but I don't suggest it
