I am on the latest Django Nämliche.
The problem is that I always have 40 Mb RAM free. And when I have more than 2 or 3 apps open, the apps close because I the RAM is away.
Have anybody a solution?

First,
If you are talking about the P990, then it is Django Manouche ROM by Carburano.
Next, use a task manager or make the correct value for the cron script (read the OP and you will find how to do it) and give the right permissions for the startsh script file....this will help in clearing the unutilised RAM space.....
I have 70+ apps and I have not found such an issue.....never used a minfree manager but why dont u try if you have no other alternative.
Hope this helps you

I am using CM7 on my i9000. As there is only 330Mb of Ram available I want to know if there is any possibility to remove(or modify) the Ram allocations to camera(720p recording),Video calling etc to increase the available ram??
What file should I modify in kernel to change these memory allocations??

I want to go beyond 340Mb.. I dont use camera and 3g video calling.
So I want to remove or reduce the memory allocations for those..
What file in the kernel should be modified to effect these changes??
You should ask a dev directly for this kind of questions.
I think a PM is the best way to do that

You can unistall any application that is shown in app drawer menu safely. But u dont really need to do that, android can handle RAM much better than what we can do.So my advise will be to leave this task to your OS and enjoy ur phone and apps

Use es file manager. In settings select mount system as rw. Then go to system/app and erase this apps: drmua, drmprovider, encrypt, mediauploader, snsaccount, snsprovider, syncmldm, wssyncmlds, signin, mtpapplication.

The task manager that comes with your SGS is also a great tool. I recommend using it first. It does have a RAM menu where you can close processes to free up RAM as well as apps that suck up massive amounts of CPU.
Yup i know. But many apps keep restarting. Its kinda irritating having to kill every time.

If they're not system apps you can just uninstall them. If they're system apps maybe they're doing something important.
What apps do u think its safe to uninstall in?

The apps that you deleted are system apps but they don't do anything important

Use a app called Greenify. Available on play store.
It hibernates the apps ... so they wont restart.
It will get you what you want!!
come to KK.u can disable system apps.some ROM even got a dustbin icon for one-click batt stats refresh/delete

it was on.now i'll give it a try with jit off.will post some feedback
Boot to recovery. There you'll have most of the RAM free.
Any rom as long as you dont boot your phone should do...

lol big time!!
I'm using CM7 (2.3.7) and it only offers 44MB after boot ...
Currently what is the best rom for the milestone 1, with good performance and at least a 80MB ram free?
And what makes you think that you need 80MB of free ram?
It's a big missconception to think that free ram is the way to go.

With 44MB current when using opera mobile app sometimes closes due to lack of memory
Use the latest CM7 build and create a swap file/partition on your SD card - that will resolve all your memory-issues.
Instructions are in the corresponding threads.

Been using LG P990 ( Gingerbread ) for nearly a year. Recently I noticed the phone
seems to slow down. Just to open the Message folder or Phone dialer
it takes 20 seconds.
I wonder if a hard reset is needed from time to time for Android phones.
Or it it due to too many applications ( over 100 ) being installed on the
device ?
I used Anti Virus scan, Memory boost and other tools to clean up the
memory. But of no use.
Appreciate any suggestions any of you may have.
Thanks
You don't need to hard reset, just find out what apps are messing up or using a lot of RAM. RAM is the key. Have at least 100mb free and phone is fast.
I had this problem. Used a ram optimiser then eventually had to hard reset as all interal memory used up. Works like a harm now and gps also working. At same time i upgraded battery to a gold one. Phones like this are not built to last... the solid state memory itself wears out..

Try Custom ROM.. usually has better memory management. or maybe supercharger will help
Ninjas are creeping into your room at night and underclocking it 200mhz at a time.
After 5 minutes of flashing Stock rom my 2x was already like a slow motioned grandparent, so I strongly suggest you a new rom.

Which version of the stock rom are you on? From what I heard v20Q is pretty slick.

I have used all sorts of RAM optimizers, memory boosters etc..still the result is only tentative. After a while some of the programs start by themselves and run in the background gobbling memory. I do wish there is some tangible solution to this problem as I am sure many others are also facing the same problem of slow response and low memory reserves.
Yeah I'm on CM7 Nightly and my gf is on stock galaxy s 2 and her phone is amzing quick and no lags or nothing.
My phone is meant to be souped up and it's really poor now :-(
Search for V6 Supercharger it really optimizes your memory usage.. If not helps then do a clean install of a more stabile rom.

Can't find V6 Anywhere in market?
because its not on the market. because its not an app.
you need to download terminal emulator (or script manager) from the market, then look up the v6 script here on xda (we have a port of it in o2x dev section somewhere) and just follow the instructions.

Search for zeppelinrox's thread here in XDA, download its latest version (PDF format), run script manager, choose the downloaded PDF file, run as root (skull icon), and follow the instructions. One of the most, if not the most important tweak released for android imo.

I have stock V20Q with a Flix123 performance pack, no custom kernel no custom rom, and am very stisfied (smooth, efficient, no bugs).
I tested all the roms available in XDA dev (CM7, CM9 and custom stock) but no one is stable and full functions like the 20Q one. If you start with these roms and have probles is better that you give up.
You may update your rom and baseband using LG Mobile in your country.
In order to have better efficiency, I also freezed in Titanium backup some unused system applications (kit auto, google talk, f-secure antivirus, Email, backup, LG PC suite); no antivirus installed, installed only the used applications and not the nice to have ones, no application killer (android take care of freeing ram).
Ok I found it and followed instructions but got an AWK error message!
What do I do now?

Do you have Busybox installed? Did you run it as root? Cant think of other problems.. That's all you need.
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA Premium App
Yeah i did and do.
Says can't determin the busybox version!
Reinstall Busybox, or try a different version of V6.. That's all I can think of. But if your phone is really messed up then I'd consider reinstalling it first. With a Titanium backup it would only take an hour. Still better than suffering from this.

I think it is the prob of our "old" device with only 512MB RAM...
Do you use "heavy" apps like facebook, skype and so on ...more functions need more RAM for the apps ...
I`m using CM 10.2 with Semaphore and BigMEM-Libs so that i have 409MB RAM available ...

But actually my problem is not this my problem is if my phone is using 124 mb ram there should have been 125 mb or more ram free but its showing only 25-30 mb free!!!

I had the same problem with the RAM, lot of apps began to force close and the system was SLOW! really slow! I tried installing Greenify that can hibernate apps to free up more RAM but sometimes it doesn't work so I had to restart my device.
Now I'm very happy because I've found a solution that works excellent! You have to insert an sd card and create a swap partition. I use the Devil Kernel because it supports a swap partition. To activate my partition I used the Devil Kernel Manager and and set a swappiness value of 60.
To verify if your swap memory is working you have to type "free" in a terminal console. In past I've tried to use the app Swapper to create a Swap file but it never worked like the real partition.
I think that a swap partition is a need for our i9000 devices if you plan to use many apps.
