Case with micro USB onboard. - Nexus 10 Accessories

Hopefully someone in the higher eschalons is either already thinking about this or designing.
Something ideal for these devices, would be a case with built-in micro USB connector to the device, with either a standard USB connector on the case including a grove/cut out for a stick to sit flush(ish) or even better..... a built in micro SD slot.
Is this already in the making and what's others thoughts?

This is actually a very cool idea. It would be nice to have a case with built in micro USB to micro SD slot.

Best OTG?

Can anyone recommend a decent USB OTG that hangs down the side of the nexus 10 rather than sticks out?
Preferably one they've proven to work with an N10.
I appear to have lost my Samsung one I was hoping to use.
Thank you.
Swype'd at pace from my Galaxy S2
I have this one
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005GI2VMG/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00
Works perfectly with my thumb drives and external hdd. Not only does it work, but the price was unbeatable.
Don't buy one of those $10+ cables as it does the same exact thing as this one.
I might add, you could possibly look into getting one that can charge the device at the same time it's using an external storage device. Unless you're okay with it.
Stickmount works with root on my devices
Nexus Media Importer works without root on my devices
GNex and N10.
Hope this helps!
Confirmed that my OTG cable works.

Can you still get to the headphone jack with that cable?
Is there any long (length wise) USB OTG Cable?
So I can just keep the flash drive or external drive in my messenger bag and use my phone or tablet LOL.
Also will USB 3.0 work with the devices?

I bought both of these. Both connect with the larger portion of the USB connector towards the screen so they hang down the side of the tablet:
SANOXY Micro USB Host Mode OTG Cable - The connector for this one was flipped from the picture and hangs down the side of my N10.
eForCity Micro USB OTG to USB 2.0 Adapter - This one came just like it was pictured.
Both came from Hong Kong which took about 2 weeks in the mail however they cost just around $1.00 each and with free shipping not much to lose.
I use mine with a elago Mobile Nano II USB 2.0 microSDHC Flash Memory Card Reader and a 32GB card (my 64GB is in my S3). With the adapter in the OTG cable it barely hangs out the bottom and makes it very compact.
I have 2 kinds of OTG cables here, both working perfectly fine with my Galaxy Nexus. However on Nexus 10 when I connect a USB device to the OTG (or connect the OTG cable with a USB device already plugged in) the tablet turns off completly and I have to remove the OTG to be able to start it again.
OK -- Sorry to resurrect a glue'd horse, but does anyone have a link for one that ALWAYS ships the correctly sized (read not too long) OTG adapter? I've already ordered two of the OTG adapters through Amazon but they BOTH have too long of a connector and it basically sits loose in any device. Very lame.

I'm looking for one as well. The cheap ones from eBay are too long. They work but the connection is loose. Do NOT buy the ones linked below.

I bought THIS one from monoprice for $1.43 last week its on its way...ill report back when it arrives. Monoprice stuff is usually pretty good quality, hoping it is nice and secure

Has anyone tried this? Says it will work with the Nexus 7 so I'm assuming the 10 as well? Would be nice to have all in one.

Just an FYI I e-mailed Juiced Systems to see if this would work with the Nexus 10. Their response is below:
The adapter should work with 4 out of the 5 functions for the Nexus 10(MHL maybe not). I have yet to test it out personally. This is something we will test soon and will post online. The nexus 10 does have an HDMI mini port built into it already. If MHL doesn't work that is because google did not think it was necessary to make it MHL capable when it has an HDMI mini port. The Nexus 7 is not MHL capable either, not sure why they chose to do that. I will keep you posted once the nexus 10 testing comes back.
Thank you

Can you still access the headphone jack with this OTG cable?
Can anyone tell me how an OTG cable can be better than another except of the price/length/design ??
Isn't that micro USB to USB cable just a normal cable connecting 5 pins which are either in a bigger or a smaller plug?
Why should such a cable not work (except of the situation that the cable is damaged)?

I watched a video on how to make your own, if it was correct, they stated that one pin was unused and when it is connected to chassis ground tells the device to go into OTG mode.
So this OTG cable is not just connecting each pin? It's not just an adapter?
Okay then, good to know, thank you

If you took a razor knife to the strain relief part it would work, as it is you can stress it out of the way enough to fit a headphone jack but it puts a bit too much pressure on the USB port for my liking try it they're cheap!
i see most are using ones with a cable, is there an issue with ones like these?
http://www.overstock.com/Electronic...l?recSet=4e4a53cb-bea5-4a2e-aec6-88ea05c24288
http://www.ebay.com/itm/90d-right-A...160919848094?ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:SG:3160
I got 2 of this, works pretty well and sits close to the side of the tablet.
Only 2 issues, the connector itself is long so it's a little loose and it will block the earphone jack.

micro USB card reader

Hi, found this little gadget on DX:
http://dx.com/p/smart-micro-usb-car...m=edm&utm_campaign=20121114tablets-cell-phone
It sais its for Samsung, but for android, so would this work with our N7? I realize the whole USB mounting is broken on 4.2 but once that's fixed, would it work?
And since I'm starting a new thread, would it work on Sony Xperia Arc S? USB otg works, but with some other app then here on our Nexus.

Guessing, I would say there is a fair chance. Regular sd card adapters do work.
Bit overpriced unless you really need all those features in once device. I am happy with my otg cable, and whatever device I need to use.
There are cheaper options, I got the card reader and usb female to micro usb or whatever it is on the nexus 7 for a dollar each shipped, on ebay, slow shipping though but cheap and work, trying to get links for you.

If you haven't already bought it take a look at the 'Kingston USB microSD Reader'. I would post a link or image but I need more posts first. I found it on Amazon UK under that name.
It's cheap, it's compact and it's made by Kingston. I haven't got it yet but just ordered myself one. As long as you don't mind a male micro USB to female USB A cable as well.

Headphones that fit with OTG micro USB?

Looking for headphones that fit with an OTG micro SB. Or an OTG that fits with standard headphones. The OTG micro SB that I have is the standard on on amazon prime and the headphones are iphone ear buds but the inserting end is too tall to fit with the OTG attached. I don't think wireless headphones are an option because I want them for plain rides. Thoughts?

Yeah... Ones that aren't right angled but just straight like a normal micro usb cable... I have 2 right angles that i use with my nexus 7 and s3.....but just bought a nexus 10 and ordered 2 otg straight ones from ebay. They were 99 cents shipped from ebay. I knew my old right angle ones would be in the way of the headphone jack on the n10 so bought those. Cheaper alternative than buying new headphones

Thanks. I don't usually use ebay (prefer amazon) but I'll look at it...
will any otg labeled : USB 2.0 Female to Micro USB Male OTG On-The-Go Cable Adapter work (provided the picture has a straight end)?
Thanks.

I would think so. I haven't read anything about otgs not working unless the tablet isn't equipped to use them.

This the seller i bought from. I ordered it on the 20th and got them yesterday the 23rd. They both work on my nexus 7 and s3 just fine. Nexus 10 hasn't come in the mail yet. Tried multiple flash drives, hard drives, mice, keyboard and card readers. Quality is just as good as the right angle ones I got

USB OTG Support?

Hi all,
I have searched this Q & A thread and have found nothing. Many of us Note 4 owners probably had SD cards. I would like to know if any of the current USB OTG card readers are compatible with the Note 5. I'd like to be able to access content on my sd cards without having to use a computer...
Thanks for any help.
I am using an OTG cable with a usb micro sd card reader and it works perfectly. Can't say about specific micro usb card readers. I am going to get a Meenova Dash when black is back in stock at Amazon.
I have one that works, but the end won't completely mount into the phone with my case on. Is there any OTG cable that's a normal size?

if its a cheap otg cable with rubber insulation, just get an x-acto knife and trim down the housing to fit. (that's what I did with mine to fit my S4 case)
If not, I highly recommend this.

When I try to read my SDHC card on my Galaxy Note 5 the phone automatically over-writes my card with a bunch of empty Android folders? My pictures are gone and when I plug the card into a computer I get a message saying card is corrupt, would I like to repair...

Low-Profile USB-C stick for the OP3?

Got my OP3 just a few days ago, and while I'm very happy with the device, since it doesn't have a SD slot I can't plug in my old SD card for music.
Since it has OTG support, I wanted to look for a small USB stick I could just leave connected during daily use, but I only found USB-A sticks (like the one at the link below)
amazon.de/Lexar-JumpDrive-128GB-Flash-Drive/dp/B012PKVV00/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1472768444&sr=8-3&keywords=lexar+usb+c (Sorry for the plain text)
Does anyone have/know of a USB-C stick at that size?
That would be pretty awesome if there was something like that out there!
Something like this ?
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Kingston-D...id=1472828701&sr=1-2&keywords=usb+c+pen+drive
Amazon.co.uk has also Sandisk Ultra 128gb http://amzn.to/2bOJhcS
I've got a lexar I picked up from Walmart. It's c on one end and a on the other. And it slides in and out of the stick. 32 gigs for 17 us dollars
