I have had this issue ever since I bought my Vivid and am surprised that I don't find references to it on this forum: the Skype notification "bloop" is tied to the notification volume, with is also tied to the ringer volume.
The only way I can actually hear the "bloop" is by turning up the ringer to the point where it's jarring. On my ASUS tablet (no ringer, mind you), none of the volume sliders are tied to one another. Also, I've seen numerous posts from users attempting to link the two together, but not the other way around.
Why are they like that on the Vivid?
By the way, I had this issue with the stock ROM, and now also with the PACman ROM.
Oh, and the notification for sms is fine; I can hear it no problem.

Have seen people complaing about not being to have say ringtone and media volume separate. Just wanted to post a finding some may not know. If your watching say a moving you can turn the volume up and still click the volume (bell toggle ) and have it on vibrate but media have volume. Some may already know but I haven't seen it posted
actually that's not a solution to the problem, that just switches the ringer to silent and puts vibrate on, people want to be able to have the ring tone full on and the media lower (so as not to blow their ear drums out from their headphones) without having to adjust the volume each time.
Good spot though.
Oh okay I see. That makes since. Hopefully they will fix with an update
One of my gripes with the Nexus 6 is the fact that whenever my phone rings it does so in an escalating fashion. Rather than ringing at full volume like a normal device it goes from a low volume and slowly picks up to the loud volume. The same happens with Voice Calls as well on Speaker and it is very frustrating.
Is there anyway I can disable this? Perhaps a mod to disable this system so I can have regular full volume rather than escalating volume? I keep almost missing phone calls due to this, and voice calls have been redundantly frustrating.
I was wondering the same thing!
Hopeful that there will be a rom / kernel that will change this. IIRC, Seems like I remember a tweak on some of the Gnex ones that did it.
I use a app called "Disable Increasing Ring" on my Samsung Note 2.
Don't know if it is working for Nexus 6... (don't have one, but want one)
It's in the Play store

Headset to speaker phone
The volume also does the ascending thing from headset to speaker phone which I'm not really a fan of.
the app
Worked briefly on the Nexus 6 then stopped
Any new info on this going to try the app described above and see if it works for me.
Sorry if this has been asked before, but I've noticed (as I'm sure many of you have) that when receiving a call the first ring is so low it's almost inaudible. then ring #2 on the phone rings at normal sound level. I've tried various ROMs and all of them seem to have it. Is there any fix for this?
Some of the Roms have the ability to turn off ascending ring I believe. In the sound settings.
Hello everyone, I hope you can help me.
I have the Motorola Moto G 5in European version. The phone is completely stock, with developer mode enabled, but with no other modifications. I find that the notification tones, such as Facebook alerts, are ascending in volume. This is fine for ringtones, as the phone will ring until I answer it, or until the caller cuts off; giving me a chance to respond. However, alert tones are shorter, so I don't hear them, due to the ascending volume. This causes me to miss alerts. Is there a way to disable the ascending part of the tone, and just have it as a standard volume throughout? My understanding of this is that it is set by Motorola due to the phone having twin speakers at the front. However, if my phone is in my pocket, handbag, etc, I can't hear the tones. Can anyone advise me on this, or will the upcoming Lollipop update sort this out? I am reluctant to root and mod the phone, as I've only had it a few days. I will do so if there is a way of fixing the problem. I have rooted phones and tablets previously, so I understand the principles, although I haven't looked at methods for this particular handset.
Hey guys,
I am having weird sound issues with my new P10.
When setting ringer volume to certain level, it seems to only work with the ringer when somebody calls.
It does not have an influence on WhatsApp, Gmail, text messages etc. These do sound a LOT louder.
So, I can control call ringer just fine, but basically cannot control the volume for app notifications. I also tried to lower the volume for alarm, media etc, but these apps seem to be connected with the ringer volume slider (which is of course what one would expect) but they are much louder that the call ringer.
This is my first Huawei phone so I was hoping to find some setting for this, but no luck. This is really annoying. If I do not want Gmail notifications etc to be loud, I need to lower the ringer volume to minimum, but then I have issues to hear when someone calls
Any idea what is going on?

P10 Plus
The P10 Plus has a same issue.
Yep, it looks like notifications sounds are not only too loud but also still present when sound is "muted"
as a temporary workaround I reduced the volume of the notifications by editing the notification files on my pc. but I am really hoping that Huawei is going to fix this soon.
sound settings do not affect videocalling with facebook messenger on my P10.
