Hi Everyone,
I have been trying to root my Kindle Fire HD for a long time and have tried so many different tools and just tried this one 1st Method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460 but did not root and i lost all my images on the kindle! I have also tried this way 2nd Method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2096888 but just keep getting errors. So i have not rooted device and images missing from the first method how do i fix this and how do i get this device to root!
Thanks
Rockyuk
Have adb drivers installed as well as latest Java. Then you use binary method and ur kindle will be slow also sluggish that's OK. Then you use qemu root method. You can find I t in the 7 inch kindle fire HD android development. Then run the qemuroot.bat. file in that archive and following the instructions. And after that is done, un plug kindle reboot and you have root! Make sure the app super user is installed after root.

Hi,
I recently got a 2. Generation Kindle Fire and would like to turn it into an ICS Android Tablet. However, I am not quite sure where to look for a suitable tutorial / whether I could possibly run into troubles when rooting my Kindle and using a clean version of Android instead.
I am posting in here because I do not have access to the Kindle 2 development forum and there is no Q&A Board for my particular device.
So, I'm not totally unexperienced in regards to computers and stuff, but completely new to tablets and regarding operating systems.
I did read this and this, but people kept running into technical problems. On one hand, the boot screen would always have to remain or some particular apps won't probably or on the other hand the kindle would keep updating itself to prevent the foreign os from working probably - or not not working at all.
I would like to just spend one afternoon reconfiguring my kindle 2 (not HD) and then not run into technical issues every few weeks. Is that even possible or is the developement regarding my advice not advanced enough, yet?
Sorry for the inconvenience; I read some general advice on rooting beforehand, but can't quite figure out whether it also applies to my particular device or not. (For example, will Kindle 7 HD stuff also work with my device?)
Thanks in advance!
I used the first link provided to root and install play store.
Once play store was installed I bought kindlefree for 1.99 which allowed me to install a custom launcher and remove ads from the lock screen.
AFAIK we cannot use anything from the HD 7"... but I just got this device today and haven't a clue yet.
Once I have more of a clue... watch out!!
Edit: using custom launcher is not quite perfect.. some apps don't notify my unless I start them (Google+).

pretty much correct.
I ran into an issue...
I tried the first method as suggested, but when I try to run "runme.bat" from Qemu, it hangs at "* daemon started successfully *"
I downloaded the ADB drivers from the link. When those failed to install properly (repeatedly, giving me the exact same issue as linked above), I uninstalled, downloaded the Android SDK, got the proper files for the KF2, made sure I killed the ADB process before I started, I ran cmd as admin, I basically followed every instruction from the original post to the letter. I'm working with a KF2 (not HD) running 10.2.4. Any ideas? Suggestions?
Thanks so much!

You will have to install the drivers manually through the device manager on windows.

That worked!

That did it. My fault--I assumed that, when I installed through the Android SDK, it had taken care of installing the drivers as necessary.
Thanks!

Lol. 99.999999% of the time that would be correct. If i hadn't had the same issue i wouldn't have known how to fix it. Mine kept picking up the adb drivers for my samsung phone. Needless to say- that didn't work

hi I have just followed the method to root my kindle fire hd running 7.3.0. i followed the manual guide.
i have also just installed vending, gplay and phonesky. Play is working fine. Also moved the marketintentproxy to the sdcard from system/app.
Here are my issues:
1. How to i disable OTA updates that amazon push out? Guide says to "open Kindle Fire First Aide - Select Option 14 to Disable OTA" cant find this?!?! maybe me.. long day..
2. When I rooted, I didn't restore my kindle to factory settings so I am still left with the apps I downloaded from amazon. Will these be ok to use still? Assume I won't gt updates for them?
3.During the rooting process I chose to restore my kindle but didn't enter the encryption passsword above. Does this matter?
Last thing is to do with ROMs. I have only ever rooted android handsets that requires booting into recovery and you can then flash a rom. Is the kindle completely different to this an the only was you replace amazon's awful interface is by installing and using Go Launcher?
Also, is this the latest link to get flash on a browser such as dolphin?

Thanks in advance!
I used the Kindle Fire Aid utility and it appeared to have worked fine. Which Binary V # do you have downloaded? It is definitely number 14.
Alright so I've tried all the methods I've found on here so far and even searched google for some and non of them are working. IDK if I don't have the drivers installed properly or what. Every time I try to use the Runme.bat it runs but the kindle doesn't restart or anything. Has anyone found a way to root this version 7.3.0?
I've been browsing Kindle fire HD root videos and forums all day. There seem to be almost none for the 7.4.8 version. I cannot find any videos or tutorials for my kindle version. Do I need to downgrade? If so, how? Where do I begin? I'm a newbie.
Root it just like you would the other versions. Binary's root or kffa root, if nothing else works just downgrade it, those are prerooted.

Asides this, will I also be able to successfully root through the tutorials on youtube which are meant for version 7.4.6?
They should work, as far as I know nothing has ever changed in the rooting process for this device.

Thank you
I also lost root with the update to 7.4.8 a few days ago.
I originally rooted my kindle with bin4ary's root, but that program was able to re-root it.
Thank you for suggesting KFFirstAide because that program was able to restore root for me.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Try this

I rooted a 7.4.8 this week, it was no different to do than before it was upgraded, I think the user had upgraded the firmware to 7.4.8 and caused a boot loop problem, so it had to be put back to stock and then re-rooted, just take your time and follow all the instructions to the letter, I used "Root Many Android" as the software, also ensure the ADB drivers are correctly installed >and working< and you set the windows Enviromental Variables path correctly, ensure the kindle is charged up before you start. Good luck
Downgrade 7.4.8

I have been trying to root my Kindle all morning, searching through videos here and downloading links. All I have ended up doing is getting a bunch of malware on my computer which I can't remove! And now when I go to uninstall programs it only shows I have 3 programs installed. I'm so frustrated and I just want my computer back to normal. Please, can anyone help me?

Eh... Not exactly the best place to ask for help fixing your pc. That can be more difficult to explain how to fix over the net, If you want someone to repair your pc for free then pm me or hit me up on skype, i can fix pc's remotely assuming it still gives you network access and lets you install programs, and also assuming the virus isnt the kind that prevents me from fixing it short of pulling the hard drive and scanning it remotely. However i will say this, if your programs list only has 3 programs on teh add remove page, its possible some registry keys were deleted.
If however you are looking for the kindle fire 7 hd 2012 root utility, use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2096888
if its the 2013 model, don't use that there's another tool for it.

I have rooted my kindle in 2 different ways. Both methods end up making the kindle fire barely usable.
Here is the first method I used: Youtube Video: "How to root kindle fire HD and turn it into a pure android tablet" (Can't post links)
My second method I used is a program called vroot.
How do I stop the lag without taking away the root?
I have factory reset the device 3 times now.
I don't want to do it again.
Thanks
I used Root Many Android. Everything works, no lag.
Ok, I fixed it

Do you mean how I fixed it. Well, I was tired of waiting for a answer so I just did a factory reset.
I was using Vroot. Kinguser was still there and I still had root access.
But now I have another problem.
I tried to install recovery mode on my kindle fire but it started going into an endless loop when I tried to access it.
When trying to access twrp?
