List of AMR-WB Voice CSC Enablers - Galaxy S III Android Development

I thought I would get a thread going sharing CWM AMR-WB enablers.
TELCEL MEXICO
H3G EU
If you have a CSC zip to enable HD Voice/AMR-WB please post them and I will edit this post and add them.
You can check to see if AMR-WB is enabled by dialling: *#197328640#
And selecting option 8
Guide:
The files you need to rip from the original firmware are:
CSCVersion.txt
SW_Configuration.xml
T9DB/sipdb
csc
You also need to grab the modem.bin
Steps Needed:
In the original firmware these files can be found in the sec_csc.zip that can be found in the cache.img
To extract these you need to unzip (for an example) I9300XXELLA_I9300H3GELL1_H3G.zip with winrar.
Now you will have a file called: I9300XXELLA_I9300H3GELL1_I9300NELK2_HOME.tar.md5
Rename this and call it I9300XXELLA_I9300H3GELL1_I9300NELK2_HOME.zip
Again extract it using winrar.
Once that is done you will end up with something like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Now grab dsixda-Android-Kitchen
Unzip dsixda-Android-Kitchen and place cache.img in original_update folder and rename it to factoryfs.img
Now just run dsixda-Android-Kitchen
Once done you will find sec_csc.zip in the WORKING folder. This will contain all the need files to enable AMR-WB.
Use this CWM zip as a template and replace the contents with the files from sec_csc.zip that you just ripped from the original network firmware and the modem.bin.

Sadly I wasnt able to get this working, I had followed the instructions, flashed my zip..
When typing in *#197328640#, sadly AMR-WB was still disabled..
Im trying to get this working on the Telstra network in Australia.

When I go into service mode everythings missing.. All I can see is if I press the menu button them go to wifi. Any ideas?

Hahahaha this made my day...

If I use the CWM.zip and replace the contents, will the phones internal SD be erased?
I've read changing the CSC will hard reset the phone which would ERASE internal SD?
Thanks

I think that you should check also the customer.xml file from your csc folder to see if there is activated the amr. You should find something like this:
<NbWbAmr>1</NbWbAmr
<WbAmr>
<NetworkName>RO Orange</NetworkName>
<WbAmrCodec>on</WbAmrCodec>
</WbAmr>
I don't know if also your ROM's CSC should match with the csc code declared in the files inside the csc folder (sale_code.dat, feaature.xms, etc). In my case I matched them and is working fine.
Good luck.

it is the easiest tool for extract cache.img
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27219721#post27219721

I managed to get HD voice working, I simply replaced the csc file inside my custom rom, and a couple of other files with a telstra CSC version, then flashed the telstra modem, and its all working very well. Good thing is I didnt have to actually change the CSC using the *# ... method, so there was no wipe of the internal SD

Hi,
I'm trying to get HD Voice working for my T999 on T-Mobile US. I thought the methods would be similar, but no go yet. How do you determine what libraries to include? Is it possible to get this working on CM?
Here's my csc folder and related files for anyone who wouldn't mind lending a hand.

anyone able to root with gingerbreak?
Could you please try to root using Gingerbreak? Thanks.
is this a full image or just the system.img (in order not to wipe data and apps) ?
thanks
yes it is a full image, flash using flashtool, and it will wipe everything, so make sure you backup your files, and rooting doesn't work on this firmware unfortunately
Awsmness thank u

thanks.
I'm familiar with fastboot to flash but not flashtool.
- the HK Rom zip file has two files in it. Do I use them as is or do I need to build a tft file as I read somewhere?
- what do you use to backup your apps and not having to reinstall everything ?
Thanks again

actually still needs to make the tft file from the two files in the zip...
one request:
why dont u guys use rar/7zip to compress these files?
ftf files compress by almost 30% to 70% if u use 7zip (LZMA ultra high compression)
would save a lot of bandwidth, upload & download time...
see:
~280 MB compressed to ~150MB

erm can someone make the rom rootable by using the previous method, not by using gingerbreak?
Worked great using Flashtool method
Boots in like under 10 seconds now. Extremely fast. Even launcherpro seems to be running smoother. Bloatware is a bit of a negative though easily remedied. Facebook integration is there but tbh makes no difference to me
many thanks~~

No I hav not tried, just read at sammobile and posted here
Thanks for the link.
I think you can use chainfire's CWM tool to flash this ROM, with an option of rooting it too.
So we flash code, modem and csc file.
But what is the UMS.............user_low_ship_16GB.tar file?
Flashed it and it rooted fine using Mobile Odin and EverRoot. It still got the problem with market not showing some local apps. Just tweaked the build.prop and now my local swedish apps are available in Market
and btw is this a WIPE or NON WIPE firmware?
can somebody help me to flash this files with odin? can you make a guide in the first post? im new and i always flashed PDA file. The current files are:
CODE_N7000XXKL8_CL840182_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.md5
EFS_N7000XXKL8_CL840182_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.md5

UMS_N7000XXKL8_CL840182_REV02_user_low_ship_16GB.tar.md5
Where to put in odin the single files (what file in what voice)? does the csc debrand the phone? thank you very mouch

This happened to me yesterday flashing kka no brand on a branded galaxy note. To solve this , after flashing kka with this problem, i flashed an old rom (2.3.5), i do a wipe from stock recovery and then i reflash kka and The problem was solved. Probably was a problem of flashing directly on a branded phone. Resume
1) kka no brand with null problem (in this case kl8)
2) 2.3.5 no brand from samfirmware and wipe
3) reflash of kka no brand of 1)
The problem was solved also downloading another keyboard but i wanted the stock keyboard working

[INFO] What to do if secret codes doesn't work on custom rom?

Hi
I discover something when I try everything to work something out for *#06# on a custom rom.
Samsung made some changes in the csc code on their phones.
When you try to fial a secret code it looks the spesific file with csc code in /system/etc
File changes csc to csc. It name is for example on my devic TUR_keystrings.dat . Only the TUR part changes in the file name. As i see it from my experince file is same on all international roms.
So what to do when secret code doesnt work on custom rom ?
First find the csc base of your rom. I mean when you look at the /sytem/SW_Configuration.xml file you see douzen of csc listed there. All name there should work.
For example. You find the THL Part in the name.
Now we need to find the keystring file .

}
Look at this image. You can look at /system/csc folder deeper and you will find the file.
See the sup_keystrings.dat
Copy that file to /system/etc and name it THL_keystrings.dat and give 644 permission.
Reboot.
Boom its works.
I share default keystrings file to you. I hope it works for you too.
Important part is finding your base csc.
If you cant find it download a hex editor and open the /system/csc/salescode.dat file with it. It will show you your csc.
Click thank if it works for you too.
This isbthe 6.0.1 default file.
doesn't work on custom oreo rom
I can confirm, this certainly works on nougat. A custom rom I'm using is s6 rom and the dialer for the codes wasn't working. So I basically copied my TMB_keystrings.dat into both folders just to be sure it worked. Because my ROM didn't have no TMB_keystrings or any ___keystrings.dat any system/csc or system/etc
so, i got TMB_kystrings from my original stock csc that I have as backup and paste in both directories (system/csc) and (system/etc).
Confirm. It's working for nougat. I don't know about oreo, I can't get oreo on my phone. (N920T).

The location of the ???keystrings.dat is listed from within csc/contents.db file as shown in the attachment. There is no guess work needed to try and put them elsewhere.

Sorry for the late reply, but yes the keystrings.dat file shall be inside the folder of the "stock rom" in system/etc/___keystrings.dat but this is a stock nougat rom. It may also be in the folder of omc/(___)/etc/___keystrings.dat
just grab the file from stock and paste it into the internal memory of your phone or sdcard. Then copy and paste it into the root of the phone using a file explorer(i use MixPlorer) into both directories system/csc/___keystrings.dat &system/etc/___keystrings.dat
since this is what worked for me on nougat but should work for oreo as well if you find the ___keystrings.dat file.

Let me rephrase what I have said earlier. The location of XXXkeystrings.dat IS DEFINED inside the file "contents.db". You don't need multiple copies of the file as you described above. You can use DB Browser for SQ Lite to view "contents.db" You can also relocate XXXkeystrings.dat to another location, you just need to update "contents.db".

Newsflasher 11 does work (thanks!) but make sure you turn of driver signing enforcement in Windows before you try it - I struggled to get it working until I did this. I copied the replacement firmware without any .ta files.

Only .exe if You are using Windows. And as I remember older versions there were always 5-7 files (except v10 test versions), but only one was used - .exe for Windows other for Linux and Android (so not needed by Windows).

Which model do you have & which (model) firmware did you flash?
Also, do you have VoLTE/Wi-Fi Calling/Video Calling options available in your settings?
Also, is there any notable difference in what you had, before vs after (notably, the above-mentioned & otherwise)?

I have the model H8216 (XZ2) and i flashed the Customized_IT version (no brand) because i bought the phone from an operator and it has brand fw installed. I didn't found any settings for volte, it was there on the operator fw. I like the customized because the updates coming every month and it is without operators bloatware... And often on operator fw there are bugs and other problems...
Is there any chance that someone will do the exact instructions on how to do it? I also have software from the operator

File Request - N960U1UEU1CSB3 (VZW)

Hey guys, does anyone have a copy of this file that they can share? I flashed to the SM-N960U1 pie update last night and lost VoLTE and WiFi calling on Verizon. I'm a little rusty with Samsung's (been a few years) so I guess I made a rookie mistake.
If I'm not mistaken, I really only need the CSC file but this is the only place I've been able to find the software that references Verizon directly:
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-note9/SM-N960U1/VZW/download/N960U1UEU1CSB3/260802/
I'm trying to download it now but so far it's been running over and hour and its stuck at only 31.58 MB of nearly 4GB.
If someone has this file and could share it, I'd much appreciate. Or if I'm downloading the wrong file, please point me in the right direction. I need Verizon fully working on Android 9 with the SM-N960U1 firmware. Thanks!

Upon closer review, I think I'm already on this software. So I'm not really sure what I need to flash? I can I flash a CSC from a SM-N960U (without the 1)?

try to use samfirm tool 0.3.6 to dl it. no idea if the version of the firmware you want would be available but just flashing the home_csc.md5 of any recent pie version of a U firmware shouldn't matter.
also since you want a csc that is on a different firmware( ure on U1 but ure desired csc is U) phone model, ull have to probably flash it using the patched B version of odin 3.13.x

Thanks but I can't get that tool to work. The original thread says to use updato now, which doesn't have any Verizon specific files (unless they're calling it something else).

I was finally able to download the firmware from sammobile and it turns out that it didn't help me at all. It seemingly made no change to my software.
Since it's nearly midnight on Sunday and I have to work tomorrow (I get no signal at work - wifi only) I decided to flash a CSC from an old 8.1 Verizon odin file I had saved to my PC. Wifi calling is back and none of the Verizon bloatware!! I'm glad that worked or I'd have been switching to the backup phone.

Hello could you please link me a copy of your csc file? Also is there a way to get video calling on the native phone app too? Thanks

I think I'm on the latest official Verizon firmware now. Try this one:
https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-note9/firmware/SM-N960U/VZW/download/N960USQS1CSD1/266832/
I can't get native video calling working on Verizon. And for some reason Wifi calling is super buggy. Texting always works but calls go straight to VM. If I try to call out, it tells me to enable WiFi calling. I go to the settings, turn it on and I can call out. Go back to settings after the call and its turned back off again so new calls go straight to VM.
