Just wondering if our S3 Mini will be able to run Ubuntu when it's released. It's for ARMv7 devices and I know our phone is a ARMv7 but I saw that only phones with OTG support will be able to run it. So what does that mean. "OTG"?

Hi,
OTG (on the go) means that the Device can act as a host, allowing other USB devices like a USB flash drive, mouse, or keyboard to be attached to them. (-> en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB_On-The-Go )
S3 Mini is not OTG able, i saw an adater, but I don't know if it's working.
regards
Michael
And I guess that is just a kernel thing. Someone will find a way for usb otg.

We never know there hasn't been much said about compatibility, it's just what others are saying. I personally think it could happen it is meant to work on all ARMv7 devices.

About OTG: Its not only a kernel thing but there must also be a USB Root Hub involved afaik. A chip on the motherboard.
Anyone else looked into that?
EDIT: yes there is usb root hub

Don't really know anything about these kind of stuff, but I guess so.
Big question is if there is a suitable driver to use because I understood that building a driver from nothing is a hell of a job, if it's even possible..
I hope that the dev recognizes this am thinking of making a separate post in the general forum on this

Brick
Hi people on xda...
I got bricked my galaxy mini gt-s5570, but not totaly (that means I can still use the download mode, and RAMDUMP ARM9 mode) but I can't power up the phone. That happened after I m flash new rom and changed the Kernel , and device was working well with the new kernel, but after booting to homescreen my mini hang. So the result is, when I'm pushing the power key the screen starts to blinks and nothing more!

I hav rooted my ace and installed Rom manager..then I flashed recovery thru it..but after rebooting into recovery mod..it didn't turned on..what to do guys pls help me..am crying now
Sent from my SK17i using Tapatalk
You shouldn't have installed ROM MANAGER, its incompatible with this phone. Usually hard bricks it, but you might be able to revive through Odin.
Try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1071970
R.I.P. samsung service center is the only solution and why not better use search as there are many threads like this in past ? nobody in xda can help you with this

I understand a long time ago ROM MANAGER was very bad for our ACE's. But still?
I went to http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager/ and Galaxy Ace is in the list.
What are they upto stating that it is compatible when it is not??
Or a we under the assumption that it is still very BAD.
Have been reading all over XDA and found alot of old threads, just wasn't too sure.
I for one, will stay clear of it!! But I have a ACE coming in the post that has been 'bricked' after trying to root, so I am hoping that this ROM MANAGER curse is no longer (if they used ROM MANAGER for some reason)
Thanks Guys
EDIT: Realised that ROM MANAGER 'is compatible' LOL hahaha BS. So CWM is compatible but flashing it through ROM MANAGER will def BRICK your ACE : ( Well most of the time anyway, something to do with overwriting download mode, which totally screws it not being able to flash with ODIN.
Still waiting for mine in the post, hopefully this is not the case.
What us the reason that ace gets bricked when we flash recovery using rom manager ?

It corrupts bootloader and so the phone fails to start.
But nowadays rom manager works with the Ace only if you have a CWM compatible kernel and CWM 5 already installed. I use Rom manager nowadays despite that it had bricked my phone last year!

It is just like an extended app of CWM.

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
And if you click a .zip file, it will automatically ask you whether you want to install it with CWM.
But you need official Cyanogenmod and CWM 5 already installed.
But be careful while using it as a wrong move could brick your phone. Make sure you know what you are doing. Most functions work fine. But rom manager is not needed much if you have CWM. It just makes usage of CWM easier!

Received it yesterday. Booted it one time. Turned debugging on, typed "adb reboot-bootloader" and unlocked the bootloader, flashed CWM. Booted into CWM and flashed AOKP.
My Nexus 4 was shipped with pre-production software.
I think I have to change something before I get the update as well, because I got the AOSP browser or something. I really hope there's nothing else in the way, since I've only rooted and unlocked the bootloader other than that.
Just sideloaded it, pretty cool process.
Just as predicted. December is back in the People app. Nothing else is different, as far as I can tell.
Edit: The Kernel still has the November 8th date stamp, that obviously hasn't been played around with.

The usb host function is not working at all. When you use a usb otg cable to connect something like a keyboard, mouse or android accessory it dose not power or recognize the device like it should. Its still unknown if this is a software or hardware problem.
