Hello everyone! The wifi of my G.Note turns off at any time. Even while I am using the phone!
This problem first occurred on an ICS rom but it wasn't on a daily basis. Each time I had to modify the "wpa_supplicant.conf" file by deleting a few lines (some networks) using the text editor and then right afterwards I could turn it on.
A few days ago the problem occurred a few times a day and it didn't turn on right after editing the aforementioned file.
Then I flashed a JB rom and it seemed OK the first day but then again the same problem appeared.
Is there anything anyone can think of?
Maybe wifi is dead for ever?
so whats the issue now? no wifi or disconnecting?

If you mean wipe data/factory reset /cache partition /dalvik, I have done all that.
Ok.. what kernel are you on now? Install Philz kernel and go to Philz settings and choose "clean before new rom install". once done.. choose advanced and reboot download. flash the rom again. let it boot and check.

I think wifi is dead...
Yesterday I flashed a stock GB rom and wifi was working fine. I have flashed many roms but it was the first time to flash one with pc odin.
Before flashing I wiped data/factory reset, cache partition, dalvik cache, format system / data / preload.
After that I downloaded a new stock JB rom and flashed it with pc odin again. All the afternoon everything was working nicely and smoothly.
This morning again wifi started disconnecting...
What I have to point out is that the problem occured when I connected to a few different wifi networks.
The phone after all these wipes and formats it keeps the wifi data. I connected to wifi networks without asking for a password.
I think I need to erase everything but I don't know how to do that. I want to make the phone exactly as it was when I bought it. I am not saying this will fix the problem but I don't know what else to do.
So you mean to say even after formatting system and data, the wifi connects auto?
When you install a new rom, the phone takes you through a setup procedure where you need to provide the wifi details and a Google account. Does that not happen in your case?

No, it does. It takes me through the setup procedure where I provide the wifi details and a Google account.
But after setting up the phone, when I switch on wifi it connects to some old wifi networks automatically. Though some of the old networks require password.
Is there any way to restore phone to factory settings?
I mean to delete everything... pics, videos etc.
thats because the google account automatically syncs these to the phone.. other data on usb storage can be deleted by mounting it on the pc and formatting it.
My school's wifi signal very strong, 64MBs, but i can't connect, it always "Obtaining IP Address", loop.
Install wifi analyzer from the playstore and check other wifi signals, just to check your phone wifi. Can you try other wifi networks ?

Phone turns off at any time and when power button is pressed it won't turn on.
Only when I pull out the battery or when I enter recovery and choose reboot system it will turn back on.
I just flashed a stock GB rom and everything is fine at the moment. I will leave it as it is to see how it will go...
I can't figure out what is wrong.

My X8 phone runs in reboot loop once I turn on wifi. After on wifi, the phone reboot in few seconds. Then, it goes into "Free Xperia" & CM7 logo, and then reboot again as a loop.
My X8 phone is E15i, running CM7.1, with FXP 43 kernel.
I tested some features are working, like 3G, dial calls, speaker music, multi-touch (dual-touch?). I can even install apps from market via 3G.
So, I uses CWM to do "wipe data/factory reset". The phone can load up successfully again.
Does anyone know what's going on? Any solution?
Thank you very much!
No reply? oh, did I post in a wrong location?
Confused
DOnt know!
oh it's confusing? oh sorry
Basically, My X8 phone reboots immediately after I turned on wifi.
and it's running CyanogenMod 7.1 (Android ver 2.3.7), with FXP 43 kernel.
I am having the same problem
I am having the exact same problem on my LG G2x Domination build 79 as well.
Every time I turn my WiFi on, phone restarts it self
I tried pulling out the battery but that didn't fix it.
if anyone have any tips please help us out
Thank you
Yea, Wifi is still not working up to now :S
Any guess or any related hint I can refer to as well?
Now I mostly just use bluetooth to transfer apps XD
Well , did you try flashing another ROM ?
The ROM and kernel are very old with many bugs, the development of them stopped a long time ago. Flash this kernel and this ROM.
I am facing the same issue.
After installing the latest MiniCM and nAa Kernel, my phone started rebooting constantly -when enabling the wi-fi or Data. .
I have noticed that it works only on charger. I decided to re-flash to stock 2.1 but it did not help.
I also flashed Android 1.6 stock on the phone but it did not help.
It is like it has no battery power.... What can I do?
I
Okay all!
I had that prob when my phone on old kernel and ROM

Backup!
Factory reset, etc

I did it with no success. Any other ideas?
Tried to use the stock kernel,nAa 13 With MiniCM (latest version) I am getting worried. What could have happened? The phone is working only on charger without reboot.
I even tried afls9 kernel+GDXv28b.
The steps i have performed:
1) Wipe data/factory reset
2) Wipe cache partition
3) Advanced - wipe dalvik cache
4) Wipe battery stats.
5) Flash rom + addons
Nothing happens. As soon as the USB is disconnected from the PC or Charger it starts constant reboot...... :crying:

*If You cant connect wifi (a bug of CM7 - MAC Address=00:00:00....), You can search /system/etc/wifi/nvram.txt. in there you can find "macddr" (middle of the text) (if not, flash a stock rom to get it in "status" in "about phone" ) then write in this file /data/misc/wifi/config this line "cur_etheraddr=xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx" with your mac address. You will have wifi.

I have an HTC Vivid. I rooted and unlocked it about 2 months ago. I haven't flashed any roms or anything like that (I also have no idea how to- I only rooted and unlocked my phone to get apps that required it). Recently my phone has said that my own wifi is out of range - event though it isn't. If it helps I'm on at&t internet and have a 2wire router. Thanks in advance!
Is it just your router that's out of range? It picks up other routers?
Have you tried the usual thing-- deleting from the phone the entry for your router and then re-adding it?
I have tried. Also, I recently discovered that my phone can't connect or recognize any wi-fi signals at all. This means that if I'm in an area with wi-fi my phone can't find it at all.

I'm sorry if I'm being the typical noob, but I have no idea what that means. Would you be able to explain how to do that? My phone is rooted and unlocked, but I used a program for it and haven't bothered to learn how to do anything else. In my defense, I did it during one of the busier times of the school year. Since it's the summer I promised myself that I'd sit down and learn all of that stuff. Thanks in advance!

Perfect Lemme get the boot.img for ya.
So you have sense 3.6 correct?
Also what recovery are you using?
Okay so the stock boot.img is attached to this post. Download it and put it in the data folder of that program you used to root your htc
in the data folder go to the address bar and clear whats there and type cmd and hit enter
in the command box that just popped up type "fastboot flash boot boot.img" without the " and hit enter. then you can reboot and it should be fixed

How could I tell what recovery I am using? If I do this does that mean I lose all the apps on my phone? Also, I'm assuming that I would have to have my phone connected to my computer, right?

Yes. Have your phone connected into the computer and have your phone in fastboot.
And if you go into recovery itll tell you and no you wont lose anything
I couldn't help but encourage at least a 'fastboot erase cache' after flashing the boot image...
Maybe even before to see if it fixes you up...

I tried both and now my phone just says that it's turning wi-fi on...but it doesn't turn on, it just keeps on saying it.
The usual recommendation, before modding the firmware, is to try all the other things first, from clearing the cache, to wiping the dalvik cache then rebooting, to booting into hboot and resetting the phone, and seeing if that does anything. That last will lose you all your apps and data so back it all up first.

There's a pile of utils on the Play Store that will do one or both of these things. Best known are Titanium Backup, ROM Toolbox, Android Tuner and System Tuner. Folks here will have recommendations. --You will need an external SD card for storing your backups.
The dalvik cache is the bytecode store for the Java VM that Android runs on, so you have to reboot the device right after clearing the dalvik cache, since the Java VM will mess up if it's bytecode store is erased from under it. Upon reboot the Dalvik Java VM will rebuild the cache.

Good catch!! rignfool's right wrt missing wifi driver, whatislovebeepboop. i missed your description of your phone being stuck where it says it's turning on wi-fi.
That's certainly happened to me lots and it's always been because i've either put in a kernel that doesn't go with the wifi driver in the phone rom, or else i've installed a rom that has a wifi driver that doesn't go with the existing kernel ... usually because the boot.img in the rom didn't install successfully and the old kernel's still there.

I checked my system files on my phone using rom toolbox, I looked where you mentioned and the bcmdhd.ko file is there. What does this mean?
Hi guys
At first, thanks for the ROM, is really good, saved my phone from the old stock updated Samsung ROM.
But the WIFI doesn't connect whit nothing - I'm not talking about WIFI DIRECT, but WIFI LAN and INTERNET -. It appears that the phone is connecting whit the router, but after a second it stop trying to connect, and shows me that the lan is "Saved, secure by WPA/WPA2". It's work whit all the WIFI LANS i had tried to connect. May be something in the RADIO setings?
PS¹.: The Google Play doesn't connect too, even in a good sinal of 3G.
PS².: Sorry if someonse have already talked about this problem in this forum.
PS³.: I am brazilian, so, this phone is the brazilian model (4GB Memory), and I live in Brazil (if it's important for the network settings).
Did you try it to restart your modem?
Sure, several times.
I had tried too reinstall the ROM, several times.
I had intalled the Omni 4.4 ROM too, but doesn't work, the same problem. But in this last, the Google Play had worked.
Edit¹: I tryed to connect in diferents WiFi Lans: protected, open, Hot-spot.
Edit²: Updating: I install CM 11 Maclaw Rom, and the same happens: no conection whit the Google Play, and no connection whit any WiFi Lan.

CM all roms r buggy sheet -_- use harshjelly stable rom or slimbean :good:
it happends sometimes.
usually simple phone reboot or enable / disable ariplane mode helps
sometimes after reboot you are stuck with "enabling wifi" ... that actually never enables it
in such case I enable ariplane mode, remove enable wifi widget from home screen, reboot phone while still in airplane mode.
when phone boots it will not ask for pin to sim card as it is still in airplane mode.
disable airplane mode
enter pin to get into sim card
enable wifi manually
it works from now on (untill gets bugged again ) same procedure to fix it.
I also have this enabling Wifi problem sometimes with the new 01.04.14 CM 10.2 Build. Is this Bug new or did it also happen on older builds? On Stock Rom I have no problem.
I can fix it like th3cr0w explained. Sometimes waiting one or two minutes solves the problem, too.
