[Q] Note Sleep Death - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi to all,
I've a stange issue with my note, I've done a full reset ( emmc format) but the issue still here!
So my note sometimes is locked into sleep black screen.
The questions are:
is there a way to debug this issue?
Can this issue be an hardware fault?
This problem is preset into ICS and JB stock rooted rom!

Sounds to be a hardware issue.. Try installing a gb rom after full wipes on safe kernel.. If not solved then consider claiming the warranty from sammy sc

Have you tried any kernel?

Yes sir! Philz, Hydra and Stock!
It seem that in the TW roms we can't use any CPU scaling software, after a bit of try I can say that my problem is caused by RomToolbox!
Anyone can share some experiences about this?

Ok another news:
Tomorrow the phone SOD another time, after I restart my phone by long press Power button I notice that the SOD appeared after I received a message!
So it can be a Radio issue!
I already changed various radio at this time but no changes at all!
Any suggestion?
Thanks!

Me too. The SOD will happen even I flash the offical ROM with nothing installed.

So I think it's a TouchWiz based SOD, because today I flashed Cyanogenmod 10.1 and no SOD appear!
:victory: So my note's hardware is not the problem.... yuppy!

Update:
I brought the phone to warranty and they've done a soft reset + test but today my note had the same issue:

Dont get it. Screenshot, picture or video?

Its hardly visible but i see it...
Weird stuff.... changed background yet!

Sorry to dissapoint you, but thats not it
I think its gone now though, after a few (read as 20/30) reboots....
Yeah I had this ghosting first few boots of new baseband, i posted under:

I'm guessing no1 else saw this, but my experience was it went away by itself after a few reboots. Testing i'm fairly sure it was from pulling the cable while the lg+face image was still on screen after the baseband was flashed successfully.
Nothing to really worry about imho.

You see the same thing when accessing the phone through a VNC server using the framebuffer. You don't see the desktop here though, just the LG logo.
It's because Tegra does not use the framebuffer to display things. But somehow in your case the framebuffer DID get displayed in the background... somehow?!
it is gone after about 10 reboots
This happend to me a couple of times. When im going back to stock rom thats when its happening but it dissapears after a couple of restarts
Just wanted to report that I just got the same artifact after updating to baseband 0405. Still panicking... Hope it goes away...
EDIT: Seems to be resolved after 2 reboots and/or brightness change.
I'm having the same problem after upgrade to the leaked V20o. I tried to restore to V20m and the issue still continued. I tried to restore to V10f and I still have problem.
I rebooted the phone more than 20 times and nothing.
Does anyone know how to solve this??

SGS problem .

My SGS has developed a fault 2 days ago I switched the phone off & the next thing I know is I get what looks like a battery laid on its side on the main screen, it appears for 15 seconds then dissapears for 15 seconds & repeats. I can find no way to turn the phone back on while it is like this & have resorted to reloading 2.3 Gingerbread but if once reloaded I then switch the phone off then the problem comes back.
Has anybody come across this problem before & knows how to cure it or is my phone knackered ?
I tried to add a picture of the symbol on the screen & I do not have enough posts to be allowed to.
Have you tried charging it? Silly question but you would be surprised.......

No question is silly, but yes I have charged it
Have you tried flashing a "stock Rom" yet?...
Hopefully this will mean more to you than it does to me !
Is this a "stock rom" :-
firmware 2.3.3
Baseband version I9000XXJVK
Kernel version 2.6.35.7-I9000XXJVK-CL75655 [email protected]#2
Gingerbread.XXJVK
If it is not a stock rom were can I find one ?
Thanks
Colin

Many thanks, just installed jvq but still have same fault
I would try an ezbase flash, search in dev for ezbase and follow instructions to the letter, this should get you up and running on a basic rooted deodexed rom, from there you can try a reflash of whatever you want

Background:
Captivate was running SlimICS 4.1. I had trouble connecting to the PC and ramdom widgets crashing. Decide to give Milestone 6 a try while I wait for JB. I flashed Glitch 20120520.1522 before I flashed M6 (to avoid Status 7 error), then realized that kernel had TWRP, Rom installation freezes. Restarted, stuck on Glitch splash screen.
Troubleshooting so far:
Odinf Oneclick and Odin 3 both show yellow in fort box.Tried flashing Speedmod kernel, so I could flash custom ROM. OidnOneClick or Odin3 do not get beyond SetupConnection. Heimdall on Ubuntu also rcognizes the phone, but does not get beyong loading kernel. Now phone is in Phone /!\PC screen, but the problems persist. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing drivers, from all different choices (Samsung, KIES, AIO Toolkit. Nothing seems to work.
I have been up for almost 26 hours. I hope someone finds a solution and shares it with me. I am sure I'm missing something,due to my lack of sleep.
Please help me.
Edit: Looking over my post, I can tell it's difficult to even tell that my problem is. I apologize, I was falling asleep at the keyboard last night. I took a screen shot of my problem with Odin.
Odin does not go beyond SetupConnection and just hangs there indefinately. Has anyone had this problem before? How did you solve it?
See the Captivate Connection Issues and Download Mode Help Stickied Thread in the General Forum.

I have solved the problem. I uninstalled all drivers, ran CCCleaner, and used Ubuntu to flash Official KB2 by AdamOutler. I guess that I was so tired last night and desperate (I was falling asleep at my desk while trying to restore the phone) that I was not going through all the motions. Anyway, thanks a lot for the help 4-2ndtwin. Haven't seen much from you since the Illuminance days. Hope everything is well!
Yep...Still around...try to lend a helping hand when i can...
Glad u got it going !

[Q]Display gets darker at load

Hey guys.
So I recently (few days ago) bought my Xperia SP (5302) EU-Global Version. I've updated it to the last 12.1.A.1.207 stock build and I wanted to root I but I noticed something strange that happen 2-3 times and I wanna ask if it's something common for the model or should I return it for a repair before I root the phone.
So basically what's happening is, when the phone is under load in very rear cases (3 times in 7-8 days) the screen will start dimming but not like when you power it off. It will start getting darker, the app icons will get almost black and after it finishes loading the task everything returns it's original color again. It basically shifts it's color tone to some really dark tone, like when you're adding some effect to a picture. Sorry, English is not my native language so I can't explain it better but if you have experienced it you, would'll know what I'm talking about.
So basically this is the question: Is this something common for the Xperia SP and I can safely root the phone, or it's just my phone and I must send it for a repair/replacement.
Thanks in advance!
You could try to reset it with Flashtool. It seems like a hardware issue but the reflash it to rule software out..

Thanks alot!
Another question.
When I bought my phone it boot up in Chinese or Japanese (not really sure) and then it had alot of apps with Japanese or Chinese characters that I disabled and I'm not really sure if that's the Global version of the software. So if I reinstall the stock ROM and I have to return it for a repair they may notice that the ROM is not the same as the one that was shipped with. Do you guys have the same apps on the Global version?
Here are the apps

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",

}
Then you have to use Flashtool (see my thread in General) to flash a ftf file that does not come with that bloatware

it's not a hardware issue...it's a common bug on .205, .207

[HELP] Weird / Random Nexus 6 crashes (see images)

So i've been facing this issue on the Nexus 6 for a long time now. It was there even when i was running stock.
Current state : Rooted, Chroma ROM 5.0.2
Issue count (daily) : 4-5 times
The problem : Random crashes. There is nothing specific that seems to trigger it. Dont know whether this is a memory leak issue or not.
When the devices crashes / freezes, a glitch distortion appears on screen, rendering all keys except power useless. A forced restart is the only way to get back.
Please follow the images for better understanding :

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Questions :
1) Is this a common issue?
2) Should i relock the device and get it exchanged?
3) If i cant exchange it, what should i do?
Thanks.
Thats never happened to me on stock or CM12....
I would contact who ever you bought it from motorola, google , or a carrier and get it replaces you have the year warranty and the pictures you took can be your proof? ...
