Im presuming this will have otg like was introduced on the HTC One X with the JB update?
Anyone know yet? I'm keen to know too.
Yes, some user posted it. USB OTG is supported
Sent from my DHD
I would hope so.
It would only make sense if it did.

Did anyone continue or further develop Host mode for the Nexus? After seeing this:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/0...-canon-eos-from-your-android-phone-or-tablet/
I want it, incredibly bad. I haven't been able to find anything past that one guy that did it with 2.2 over a year ago, why does it seem that development on this completely ceased? I guess there really was only a specialized group that would really ever use it, but that's one super innovative use that has me extremely interested.
I'm currently on CM7 (and love it), but this is so freaking cool to me I'm actually semi-considering downgrading... please don't make me downgrade, and instead tell me that USB Host mode development on the Nexus one has made it to gingerbread...
I was about to post the same question! I'll be following this thread with interest.
Can someone please explain the limitation that prevents the N1 working as-is with USB host anyway? My (admittedly very vague) understanding is that the N1 hardware isn't able to supply the necessary power to the external device, hence USB Host support is disabled in the kernel for the N1 at compile time. Am I close?
Well now that it's been moved out of the development sub-forum I'm not sure if i'll get any developers to chime in... but for the first time in almost a year and a half that I've had my Nexus One, I actually want a new phone I wonder if it'll work with tablets seeing as how some of them have host mode enabled in honeycomb...
AFAIK, you'll be getting OTG capabilities in Ice Cream Sandwich.
Seeing that the Evo will most likely never get stable USB host support I have abandon future projects on the Evo and am looking at expanding the Atrix/Photon feature set. I'm looking to work with a dev on external touchscreen support for the Atrix/Photon platform as well as other possible USB devices.
Granted, I have a the "CDMA Atrix" a.k.a. Photon but drivers should be easy to port and would benefit both devices. If I can get some devs on board we can nail down hardware specifics and other details later. I won't go into detail here as to what the end results will be but devs feel free to PM me with any questions. Hopefully there will be more dev involvement than the Evo Desktop had.
I am seeking a similar solution, i would like to run my Atrix as a car-pc with a 7 inch touch screen in dash. Please keep us updated!

Basically there should be no porting needed. Atrix and Photon kernels are 99.99% the same and just differ in build configuration.
I thought to do this exact same thing as it makes tremendous sense. Everything already on the phone. Could be implemented very easily with the multimedia dock or even the car dock that enters the Photon into navigation mode automagically.
Have you tried the touch screen USB support yet?
I was wondering if anyone thinks it is possible to port the Motorola Webtop application from a phone like the Atrix or Bionic?
Here is a link to a recent thread where they have hacked it to working without a dock and just using a standard HDMI cable like the U9000 uses.
Here is a link to Motorola's site explaining Webtop.
Any thoughts?

I have read way to many answers to this to feel like I actually know whats going on so I am going to the source for this XDA. My question is simple does OTG work on a Non-rooted nexus7 and has any one confirmed this with a out of the box model I thought it was rooted only but then I see tons of articles that imply they used OTG on day one with a fresh model no roots. Looking for a confirm or deny from some one with a NON rooted version who has actually done it.
Link to those articles?
The OTG cable works fine for mice and such, but Stickmount only works on Rooted devices. You need to Root it to use Stickmount (with the OTG cable).

OTG only works with keyboard and mice. StickMount is currently the only way to mount USB drives and it requires Root.
After many test, I can not use the Fiio E18 DAC with my Galaxy S.
On the GS are installed Cyanogenmod 10.2 (Android 4.3) and kernel Sempahore 3.3.0.
I'm looking for this answer: my GS can or not recognize and work with the external Audio device or not?
Is a hardware limitation or software?
It seems that the Semaphore comes with usb driver, but it seems is not enough.
Someone is able to help me?
Can a newer 4.4 rom give me better chance?
In most of time USB DAC are not recognized by android smartphones even with JB or output usb driver. Besides galaxy s can't power this up even with battery in dac. Strange problem, JB was supposed to make use of this devices, but it didn't

Many thanks for the answer!

What does it mean? That the DAC must be power by the phone in order to be recognized?
Another question.
The new Android KK 4.4 is better for audio support or is the same as JB?

I'm afraid i can't answer this question, because i just don't know. The DAC itself has a battery built in it, but somehow the electric energy doesn't flow through these two devices Sorry for my lack of knowledge, i hope you will somehow walk around this problem
As far as I know KitKat 4.4 brings the audio tunneling feature. It means Android make use of built in DAC(e.g. Wolfson WM 8994), but sadly , now it's working only on Nexus 5.
After searching and reading I found the answer.
I think that is no way to make my E18 DAC work with the Galaxy S.
The problem is that the USB OTG is not enough: the kernel missing USB isochronous transfer feature and is not easy for a third-party developer or modder to modify a USB host driver because he doesn't have all the information on the implemented USB host controller, a hardware component.
If someone needs more information, the thread to read is on head-fi (but you can start from this thread where you find list of android device that can work with external DAC).
