Orange (EE) taking forever to release JB update - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

Orange seem to be taking years to release the JB update for the Xperia T. I know they have to check it and whatnot, but does it really take that long, since both Google and Sony have already been through the update with a fine toothcomb?
I'm seriously considering rooting my phone as Orange (EE) are just promises and more promises.
Is it worth rooting?
Please advise..

root isnt necesary when you want to flash different region firmware...just backup your firmware http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1377853 and then flash some JB firmware via flashtool and when you want to go back just flash your created backup:good:

Vodafone is not planning on releasing 4.1 either, at least here in Spain.
Frankly, I don't bother with carrier customized roms any more, as soon as I check the phone is working I start flashing.

Conercao, you should do the same thing that i've done.
Take an official JB .tft files from XT wihout operators (like Orange, which never follow updates), you can find this on the forum, and you've to flash it using flashtool.
There is no bug or no problem with it, because it's the ROM provide by Sony, without all orange stupids apps.
If you want to keep the root, there is some tutos in the android dev sections to keep it (downgrade via flashing an old firmware .303 if I remember and do some particular things to keep the root). I haven't done this, just because i forgot it when i flash the JB tft files.
Maybe i'll do this next week, I don't know ...

Did the same as others here op. Just get the official firmware and flash. First android phone I've had that I've not felt compelled to root.
Also highly recommend you check out Xperia Launcher 1.3.7 in these forums. An excellent modded stock launcher with a heap of extra features.

No Official OTA Updates past 2.3.6. For my N-7000UBKK2?

Anyone else never receive an ota update on there international past 2.3.6? I bought my note from ebay and it is south america model. Version 7000UBKK2. Tried kies and ota no luck. Why is this and who determines the update for different regions. Im using on AT&T network. What the hell?? Please explain.

have you got through that soft brick situation?
actually there is a new Leak JB on sammobile for South American N7000. check this tread
http://www.sammobile.com/2012/12/13...-note-android-4-1-2-jelly-bean-test-firmware/
there are many reason why you are not getting an update. if there firmware doesnot match the update criteria like PDA/PHONE/CSC. but its always better to update manually using Odin
As nokiamodeln91 said - grab the JB firmware from sammobile and flash it - you'll get latest firmware, and fresh install is always better than OTA upgrade. Should you need any help with flashing, just ask
You most likely won't receive OTA update because UBKK2 seems to be a country specific firmware and they're sometimes poorly maintained. Best to flash international JB rom.
Just getting ready to start on it. Think I have a fix but well have to see what happens. As for the update I had been on the same gb rom since i got the phone like 6 months ago and just finally realised that it probably wasnt going to come. So as you see I bricked my first phone. Have been lucky with the atrix and 717 and even a previous model 7000 but i should have done more research before flashing. Will update the thread whichever way it goes. How is the battery life on these new JB roms? Ive heard alot of people complain about decreased battery life after updating to ICS and so I was skeptical about updating. Im open to suggestions as I have limited time to read up now working alot of hours on nights.
I think it's best to just root it and install cwm ( 1 step method by dr. Ketan ) and flash CM10.1 - you won't believe how fast and smooth Note can be.
Another option would be to get odin, download firmware from sammobile ( nokiamodel provided the link ) and flash it - single step procedure.
True, ICS had worse battery life, but it seems that JB fixed that, at least on AOSP based roms. If you need help with flashing procedure, let me know.

sony xperia TL (at&t)

So I'm thinking of switching to at&t and getting a xperia tl..I'm big fan of hacking and rooting and using custom roms.I'm abit confused as to if the xperia tl for at&t has custom roms and can be rooted? I'm not sure if I'm in the right place as I looked in the development threads and saw lots of xperia T roms.. will those roms work for the xperia TL as well? If not can someone point me out to the xperia TL at&t theads/forums. I don't want to get the phone and flash the wrong stuff for the phone and permenantlt bricking the device, any help pls..
I think it can be rooted, but it is not as easy as the unlocked (international) versions. AT&T is suppose to unlock it this month or next if I remember reading it somewhere, then it will be able to get root easier and more custom ROMs available. Great phone though, I have had it a month and I really enjoy it. The only reason I would want root is to just get rid of the bloat other than that the phone runs smooth!
The TL has a locked bootloader which cannot be unlocked.
Therefore, only stock based custom roms for the TL.
It can be rooted very easily though.
I bought the TL from at&t on January, it's easy to root, just have to flash to the o2 ics Rom and exclude baseband. (there are instructions in the forum make sure to follow them) then you can install cwm for locked bootloaders and install one of the custom stock based roms in recovery.
Remember always follow the directions.

You can root it on the AT&T firmware as well or use any LT30p or LT30a firmware as well. Yes you have to exclude the baseband when flashing them to keep LTE. From there you can install CWM and then flash the LT30p JB rom that is prerooted if you want. Or just wait for the JB firmware from AT&T which should be out next week.

[Q] Backup my current firmware

Hi guys, i have already searched on Google and here in the forum and found many guides for saving firmwares but not the real solution to my problem so hope you can help me
I am on stock ics 7.0.A.1.303 on my brand new xperia T and would like to update it to jb soon but before to do that I would like to backup my CURRENT running firmware just in case..
All the guides i found requires to update to the latest firmware available with pc companion or the other sw and then generate the ftf firmware starting from the downloaded files.. the problem is that I want to backup my current firmware not the newer one I will download!
Is that possible? Any chance?
Byte and thanks in advance
Either root, install recovery and make a backup or search for a ftf with your currant firmware version in the all in one thread from the question and answer section

Thanks my friend. I did read your all in one guide: that's simply great there i found all the info i will need for rooting, installing cwm and then be able to install custom roms.. I plan to install CM soon
Btw about the ftf's i saw them also, but i see there are many customizations of the same ftf so to avoid problems I wanted to save my own
The problem is that I'm in Italy + i have a no brand phone and I'm not sure if my ftf is in that list.. maybe my current ftf is the General ics central Europe one?
Bye and thanks again
Yes, you can use that one

Thanks! Just last question: if I well understood reading around here, the firmware ftf's don't include the kernel also, so if after updating to jb I would like to go back to ics i should flash the kernel separately right? If so, can i flash "[Kernel] Stock Kernel taken from Xperia T [LT30p] 7.0.A.1.303 [Vodafone UK]" I found in your guide even if it says vodafone uk? I guess so as it is "just" a kernel but just to be sure.. Thanks again!

That will be fine, but the ftf's do include the stock kernel, so don't worry.

[Q] Downgrade

Hi guys, i'm Darwin from Honduras, Central America. Im newest with my SP 5302
So i have dowloaded the newest firmware 12.1.A.1.201, and i didn't read that i can't root from 4.3 JB.
I read some thread and i can make a downgrade from my current FW. So the thing is i can't find a FW that's fits my phone (country or region), the question is ¿Can i use othe countrys FW in my phone (UK, India for example)? It will crash? I will be able to use my sim card and navigate without problems?
Thanks in advice, you guys are awesome.
PS. Pardon my bad english.
If you are interested in the latest .201 which is rooted, there are some devs developing nice ROMs based on .201 with root.
At the moment I am on purexperience which incorporates Z2 gui, etc and fast. It still has some bugs but I can live with it until something better comes along, if at all. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2691767&page=4)
Otherwise, another dev has put a full .201 in the forum which is rooted (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2704312 or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2704009)
Note: you will need to be rooted with CWM recovery in order to install these ROMs. The only way that I know is to downgrade the firmware to old 4.1.2 which enables you to use Doomlord's exploit (V18) after which you can install CWM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2658952
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2405933 (for this one you will have to flash .254 full firmware before starting the process)
PS: you don't have to get the ftf that fits your country. Just take CE, SG, AU, UK (if you are comfortable with English) and it will prompt you for your language during setup...After all the downgraded ftf is simply a step to root and will be wiped out when you install .201
you can use stock based ROM, I am curently used existenz 2.1.5, it now also have newer version with xperia sirius features on it.

The radio baseband determines the frequency the phone can receive flashing another region firmware won't affect it if yours is a c5303 I know Brazil is then you will be fine flashing other c5303 fw for example uk. I think its just USA that has a different baseband.

Does Xperia™ Companion software find unbranded ROMs?

Hello. Sorry if this is a silly question; first time Xperia user here. Does the Xperia™ Companion software find unbranded ROMs that don't come OTA? I have a UK o2 Z3+ and want the latest official Sony stock debranded ROM. Could you tell me if the Xperia™ Companion software would download this for me or will it only bring up carrier-modified ROMs as if I were to check OTA?
Thanks!
Hi,
Any reason why you want to use the Xperia™ Companion software? From what you describe, it sounds as if you'd be better going with Flashtool/Xperifirm. You can freely choose from the available roms. Google for a guide for creating the FTF and flashing it.
Should work without B.L. unlocking as long as you're not trying to flash a modified kernel, but your phone will need to be carrier unlocked if you want to move from o2.
Cheers!

Hi,
Actually I love stock Rom only because they are very stable as compared to AOSP custom Rom.
But here in our country the STock Rom comes with lots of bloat. Is it possible to create a stock FTF by self with the help of Flashtool which doesnt have the bloats and useless apps so that my system run lagless. I dont want to unlock my Bootloader.
Any help will be higly appreciated.

there's nothing in FlashTool to allow you to work on the rom. You'd need to deodex the stock rom, work on it to remove what you don't want, then zipalign. there are guides to doing that, or you could watch the discussions here and see what happens. There was talk of someone creating a deodexed image.
Here's a thread regarding deodexing/zipaligning
BR.
deodex needs root
And z3+ BL needs to be unlocked to aquire ROOT. So I think its impossible.
