just got the Nexus 7 and it doesn't have a USB de-bugging option??
The camera crashes everytime i go into the panaroma mode... and it's laggy as hell. Bad copy?
USB debugging is in developer settings. To gain access to developer settings tap on build number seven times.

Is there any option which allows you to enable "only charging" when connected to PC USB port (not MTP or PTP).
I have read that if screen is locked when pluged into PC USB, JB will not allow file transfer. That is not my case. Even if locked, autoplay starts and I am able to see files on device.
I am asking that from security reasons. If I am somwhere were I just wan to charge battery and I don't want enable file transfer between device and PC.
Thanks.

that is interesting as I have not run into this issue or seen any configuration to control this
maybe there is someone else that has also had this problem that might be able to provide the solution
lets wait and see
Hi! If I have locked screen, I can't access my data. But it depense on, how lock screen is set up. If I set "maze lock" i can't access data, but if I set only "slide" to unlock my phone, I can access data even if phone is locked.
I didn't try with maze because I don't use it. Maybe there is some setting, tweak or something which allows charging only mode?
If I just want to charge using someones pc I don't want to bring home troyans etc. on my SD.

I think that you have to have securited lock screen at first. If you have only slide for unlock than there is no reason for blocking access to phone and card memory while connected to PC.

I dont think like that. There is a reason. Just one example. If you are at friends house and your bat is low. You connect your phone to his pc while you are drinking coffee. Nobody is touching phone. There is no need of sec lock. Ok? You come home, connect phone to your pc and... Your AV protection start to freak out.
I think there need to be an option "charge only" even if sec lock is switched off.

Only thing that comes to my mind is cutting data wires in your USB cable, this will be 100% safe but probably not what are you looking for

Yes. Thats one way. But it is not so good solution because you need always to carry your cable with you. Software cutting of data traffic would be much better solution.

YOU ARE USING THIS METHOD AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Maybe an app/script that would rename the system app responsible for USB storage management so it's not accessible by the system when you connect phone to PC? Just an idea.

quite a common problem - but it shouldn't affect the battery of your phone or your watch
on Reddit, they seem to have found a fix: Disable USB debugging and developer options

I happen to see this problem recently. Disabling the dev options work but I need it to be on for my transition animations to be faster.
Sync loop don't seem to bother me though..
I think it is not a problem.
Just mean that the Android Wear app is looking at any change on phone Wear App and sync the watch with updated data from phone or phone app synched with the watch. Ex when you update from the store an app the compagnon phone app send an updated (sync) app on device.

Yes... but it is still grey out.
I don't think you can enable it when the USB is plugged in. I could be wrong. I always enable it first thing.

I just went through this actually. You do have to have usb out to turn it on. Funny that this question popped up.
At the beginnig first i have to say that xposed is a perfect module for Personalization, i have an issue about it;issue is that whenver i plug my phone with usb cable to my pc system not giving or prompting any "plugged" message at status bar and not enabling it just charging, but after enabling or disabling usb debugging it gives prompt.

Hi everyone,
Loving my 3T, which is stock 4.16, rooted with Magisk, and has TWRP recovery. ADB debugging is enabled in settings.
One thing I noticed that I want to change is that when I plug it into my PC, the USB defaults to "Charge Only" and I have to go into the USB connection settings and switch it to MTP mode. I haven't noticed a way to set MTP mode to be the default behavior. When I plug into the PC it is always to transfer files so I want to set this as the default.
My previous phones remembered the last behavior chosen, I think.
What's the process to choose default USB behavior for the 3T?
Thanks

I think I found it. In developer options, Select USB configuration. I will test when I get home but I was able to change it from charge to MTP.

Doesn't work if you have lockscreen with password, it'll fall back to charge only to protect data theft

Tonight I will try it out. I figured I would need to unlock the phone (via fingerprint in my case) but would prefer not to have to poke around in settings each time. I think it is sorted with the change in Dev options. Soon I will know for sure.

For me it seems to work. I'm at work and my work computer is blocked for lots of things, so if it had failed it could be a false negative (hence my plan to try this at home). But, I plugged in my phone to the work computer, and it popped up the directory no problem, as long as the phone was unlocked.
This was a big change from before where I had to first unlock, then get to the menu and change from charge only to file transfer mode.
I will also test at home and see if it works normally there too, but it seems changing this developer setting works at least for me.

Interesting. I tested this repeatedly on my work laptop, and it worked fine (Windows 7), defaulting to MTP as long as the screen is unlocked.
Here at my home computer (also windows 7), it reverts to charging unless I use the pulldown menu to set it to MTP.
The only difference I can think of is the "driver installation" on the laptop failed. But, connectivity was fine.

Maybe this is because of different (newer) Android? Mine on Marshmallow doesn't remember the setting, regardless if the device is unlocked, hmm
