[Q - SOLVED] Memory Unmounted or Unavailable - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

Hi Guys,
I've got this weird issue with my Xperia T.
When I insert my 32GBSD card, the phone says "Preparing SD card...", and then proceeds as normal. If I got to storage in the settings menu, it recognises the card is present and mounted. I can unmount it and re-mount it.
However, when I try to access the Album/Gallery apps (stock 4.0.4, stock 4.1.2, CM10, AOSP 4.1) it says "Memory unmounted or unavailable" or "Insert SD card". I don't get this as I can access the card with file manager apps, as well as on my PC. I've tried another SD card and the same thing happens.
It happens in any ROM I test. Manually rescanning the media will pick up my music in the Walkman app, and will load the images in Album, but the "Insert SD card" messages still appear.
Do you guys have any idea as to what's going on?
***EDIT***
What's interesting to note is that when I restore a NANDroid backup (which restores my latest CM10 installation), the phone boots up fine and recognises the SD card fine, and even updates in Walkman, etc. when I upload new songs through the USB cable. However, as soon as I remove the card, I'll get the same symptoms.

Please search.
Make a backup if your sd card and then clear it in settings. It is a known issue when changing from cm to other roms

How do I customise the signature on xda premium app?

I did search. I formatted and wiped my SD card many times, to no avail.
Not sure what I did, but it now works since clearing Dalvik Cache, Cache, System and Internal SD data.
Thanks anyway.

[Q] SD card works but can not be opened by some apps. How can i fix it

I apologize if this has been thoroughly discussed here, but I can't seem to find much in my own searches.
I don't know what happened but yesterday after i restarted my N1, most of my apps on SD Card couldn't seemed anymore! Apps are on the list, on the desktop and on the apps settings (without original icon). But my system doesn't connect apps on my sd card.
My sd card is working correctly, no problem is there. System is seeing sd card, can be mounted/unmounted.
I've tried to restart (ofcourse),
I've tried to launch different launcher,
I've tried to flash CM again.
But nothing works
How can i fix it without wiping? I would wipe but the backup app (mybackup pro) gives an error "Unable to open database file". So i don' wanna wipe without backing up.
Interestingly, some apps on SD works, but it says it can not see SD card. For example, Go SMS app can backup sms to sd card. But it can not see sd card.
Please help me...
Note: I'm using CM 7.0.2.1 (default kernel 2.6.37.4)
I had a similar problem recently...what fixed it for me running CHKDSK. Try mounting your sd card, right click on its properties, then go to tools and then error-checking. I checked off both options and ran it. That seems to have fixed my issue, I guess a file was corrupt. Good luck
edit-This is using windows
SD Card was corrupted.
Hi again,
I understand that my SD card was corrupted. I ran chkdsk and it couldn't be completed. It gave an error. I formatted with SDFormatter. No bad sectors or damaged. Finally i had to reinstall all apps again. Not wiped rom.

Unable to access sd card (PROBLEM SOLVED)

I formatted both internal and external cards and flashed a clean rom because the sd cards were full of crap and clutter but now when i try to use a file explorer it says '''SD CARD UNMOUNTED OR NOT PRESENT'''
I know its off formating the internal but what will make it recognise it again?

Have the same problem every noe and then. I wiped it a couple of times and it seems fine now.
Sent from my Optimus 2X using XDA App
Every other time I boot
I have this exactly every other time I boot. Always need to reboot twice in order to keep my SD Card working. No joke - had the same issue with two different cards.
the way i fixed it was to clear the data/cach in the manage applications on the es file manager or what ever file manager ur using

[Q] SD card issue with CyanogenMod 7 RC1 V3 [Stock kernel] 28/04/2012

I have switched from using default Xperia x8 2.1 to CyanogenMod 7 RC1 V3 found in the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1237930
However, this version of CM7 won't read the SD card. When I go into settings - CyanogenMod Settings - Application, I can't check/uncheck the Internal storage box option. So the SD card is not simply disabled in settings, the system indeed can't see it.
Recovery also doesn't see the SD card. I tried mounting it, formating it, Recovery keeps popping up the "can't write to SD card" (or something similar) error.
However, when I boot up the phone normally, and remove the SD card, phone will notify me that the SD card is being ejected.
SD card is in order, I tried inserting it in another phone, and everything works fine. So that is not the issue.
Can someone please help me with this? I wanted to post this in it's respective thread, but it's impossible because I have less than 10 posts.
Thanks.
Format your Sd card to "FAT32", Backup before Format.
Did that, still the same result. Any other ideas?
Edit: I also tried formatting sdcard to Ext3, still nothing.
I just restored the original 2.1 software via Sony PC companion in the end, and switched to ginger. Everything seems to be working fine now.
You can lock the thread, as far as I am concerned. Thanks anyway.

[Q] sdcard0 corrupt

I tried taking a picture yesterday, as it was taking my phone crashed and rebooted. Usually I don't find this to be a big deal, but when it rebooted the phone came up with a notification that "Blank SD card: SD card is blank or has unsupported filesystem." When I click on that it says "Format SD card? All data on your card (under path '/storage/sdcard0') will be erased. This action can't be reversed!"
Although I believe sdcard0 is internal memory, I backed up my sd card just in case by plugging the micro sd card (32 gb patriot class 10, about 22 months old) into my computer and it read just fine, so I copied all the data off of it, formatted the sd card, copied all the data back on, and turned on my phone. I still get the same error and can run ES File Explorer and it shows all my data on the sd card in /storage/sdcard1 (although opening up the Gallery app shows "No external storage available" but opening up pics from ES File Explorer still shows them behind the message). Just to confirm, sdcard0 is the internal memory right? If I format sdcard0 will that format my entire rom? Am I better off wiping and reflashing? I don't think I have anything important on the internal memory.
I'm running cm-10.1-20130806 (waiting to upgrade to 4.3 when Bluetooth is working).

Wiping internal memory worked fine, thanks again for the help. I thought I would have more free time to try out your pac rom, hopefully I can get around to flashing this weekend.

[Q] Media Scanner causing phone to continually reboot?

[Q] Media Scanner causing phone to continually reboot?
A weird issue manifested on my phone today ... the phone started, upon boot up, to spontaneously reboot. It would boot up within 30s, at which point I unlock it an pulldown the notifications screen (to see what was going on).
I saw several instances of "media scanner running" occurring - over the course of various trials I would see the following messages alternate on the top status bar.
Media scanner running... (system storage)
Media scanner running... (SD card)
Media scanner running.... (USB storage)
Media scanning completed
...while below in the notification areas I'd see the "Media scanning", "Media scanning...USB storage" etc messages periodically appear.
The phone would first lockup, then reboot perhaps 3 out of every 4 startups. Several of those times the last message I saw prior to the lockup was Media scanner running.... (USB storage).
I pulled out the 32FB Sandisk SD card, then tried booting the phone several times, and this time no issue - booted up fine, no lockups nor auto-reboots. Note though that I've had the SD card installed for over a year, and the problem only cropped up today.
Same problem on Samsung Galaxy Ace
I'm experiencing the exactly same problem on my rooted Samsung Galaxy Ace (Gingerbread 2.3.6).
Reboots with SD card mounted and working fine with SD card unmounted.
I'm using Link2SD with a 2nd ext2 partition, and when SD card is unmounted, all Linked apps work perfectly fine.
I've tried removing and re-inserting SD card and also recreating mount scripts to no use.
What might be the possible causes of this problem???
I can't afford formatting the SD card as yet, as I'm a little short on disk space. I've tried mounting the card on my PC and run chkdsk, but found no errors.
Is this problem related to Link2SD???
Please :fingers-crossed: tell me if there's any other solution other than killing my phone i.e. wiping all data.
PLEASE HELP :silly:

I really find this odd. When you link an app using Link2SD, all the app data is linked to ext partition of your SD card. If all went along right, then once you unmount your SD card, all linked apps shouldn't work anymore. This is because the ext partition is no longer available which contains the app data and files. I don't know why all of your linked app works fine. I completely agree with @aditya rathee. The problem could be with your SD card. Try to restart the phone with another working SD card and post the result.

When you format your SD card, only the data in SD card is formatted while data in the ext2 partition is still left behind. If you want to format your ext2 partition, you can do that too. To do that, goto CWM Recoverymod, choose "mounts and storage">format /sdcard (To format just SD card data) and/or format /sd-ext (To format ext partition data). Use Titanium Backup app to take backup of all the installed app data. This data is backed-up to your SD card, so make sure to copy it to other storage media before you format your SD card. Once you have finished the backup, format both SD card and SD-ext, then copy the backup data back to SD card, reinstall Titanium Backup and Link2SD, run Link2SD to link your ext partition, and finally run Titanium Backup to restore all the previously installed app with data and link the apps back with Link2SD. Hope I helped
@mahithm, I formatted my SD card, but the problem is still there. I've ascertained the problem is with my memory card. I scanned it with my anti-virus, check for any disk errors and ran a surface test with Hard disk sentinal. No problems were identified.
One thing's for sure, the apps on my second partition are working fine even the one's who's apk+dex+data are linked.
If I unmount my SD card, the phone worked an whole day without issues. As soon I mounted it, Media Scanner starts and the phone reboots.
My post on the Link2SD thread hasn't got any responses.
I can access all content from my PC (on my FAT32 partition i.e.)
Please Help!

Can you try again with an another working SD Card? If the problem still persists, I suggest you reinstall this rom. BTW what rom are you using now? Sometimes accidently deleting a system file could cause such errors. If the problem is with your Link2SD, then I suggest using CronMod script to increase your internal memory. All it needs is a rooted phone and an ext partition. Before flashing the script from the CWM recoverymod, don't forget to format your ext partition. Here is the link,
CronMod-INT2EXT
Do post your result. Hope I Helped

1. A blank SD card doesn't bootloop.
2. My current SD card when formatted and blank doesn't reboot automatically.
3. When I delete .android_secure folder from SD card, phone works fine.
4. I don't think I deliberately deleted any system files.
5. I haven't changed the ROM. It's the stock ROM of Galaxy Ace.
6. Is it possible that some .asec is interfering with some system file
7. I have ruled out Link2SD as the cause, even deleting the app didn't make a difference.
Fully, this helps you to help he out further.
Thanks!

Can you try reinstalling the stock rom? Don't forget to Wipe data/ fatcory reset, Wipe cache partitions, Mount and Storage> Format /system, Wipe Dalvik cache and Wipe battery stats from CWM Recoverymod before you flash stock rom through odin. Also format both SDcard and ext partition. Use Titanium Backup to take backup of all the application data. Don't install Link2SD and lets see if the problem still persists. Do post the result. Hope I Helped
