Dear all
I use the official firmware for my galaxy S. I flashed many roms before and I had many problems mainly in MMI codes and GPS.
these problems don't exist on the official ROM. I read and noticed that the modem might be the problem. here are my questions:
1- how can I know what is my current modem? (baseband version or build number)
2- is the modem exclusive to a ROM version like kernel or it is independent?
3- how to flash a modem and can I install a modem for my country from this thread:

please answer and thanks in advance

Hi,
I am glad I found this site, excellent source of information.
I have a question regarding updating firmware on the Samsung Galaxy S i9000.
My phone currently has firmware I9000XXJF3, looking over at samsung-firmware it seems that the latest version available is I9000XWJM2
My question is, will my phone be compatible with this firmware version? should I not go beyond the I9000XX releases? Languages don't mean much to me personally because I only use English (hopefully XW has it!)
If I do install I9000XWJM2 will the other 'tutorials' work for me as well? (the lag fix, etc)
Your help is appricated!
those XX doesn't mean anything related to the specificity of the model (i9000). In other words, yes, you can flash the new firmware without problems. In general you should make sure it's for i9000, but not in the name of the firmware, cause it's rather confusing. You should look for a thread of this firm and check it's for your phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=733368
Yes, tutorials still works!
I have bought my samsung Galaxy S GT i9000 from middle east...and currently i am in Bangladesh (Southern asia)..
Q.1 - Can i Select Any Firmware of version 2.3.3 from samfirware.com or Should i select the "I9000JPJV6 " (JP is from arabic Region) (because i read somewhere the region code should be matched...)
Q.2 - Will my all functionality work ? Or there will be problem due to XX or JP firmware ?
Q.3 - is JPJV6 full arabic ?
Please answer me...this my my first help post..
Thanks in advance
As long as your phone is unlocked any I9000 firmware will work. I've changed roms a ton to ones from different regions and the only problem has every been the modem as I have an I9000T(850mhz enabled modems) which doesn't apply as you have the I9000.
So:
Q1 Yes(2.3.4 JVP is newer than 2.3.3 roms though)
Q2 Shouldn't be any problem
Q3 Sorry have no idea, you'll just have to try it out.
Hi all, I am currently having problems making/receiving calls / txts and I am looking to flash a new modem to my Samsung Galaxy s GT I9000. I am currently running a Gingerbread XXJVS 2.3.5 Rom and I have read that changing the modem may help with my signal calls/txt problem.
However I am unsure of which modem file I need to use with my current Rom and also I am unsure on how to flash the new modem to my phone? Just wondering if one of you galaxy s Gurus can help me out?
These are my settings now on XXJVS
Model No GT-I9000
Firmware version 2.3.5
Baseband Version I9000XXJVS
Kernel Version [email protected] #2
Build No GINGERBREAD.XXJVS

Flash your providers modem would be best if you're having issues

Dear All
Just installed CF-Root:
CF-Root-XW_XEE_JVB-v3.1-CWM3RFS.tar
via Odin 1.82
on my SGS
Model number:GT-I9000
Firmware version: 2.3.5
Baseband version: I9000NEJVB
The Wi-Fi now no longer works. Have tried a search of forums but can't figure out best way to solve. Any help appreciated.
Thanks, Simon
Try flash a different kernel like Semaphore kernel.
Try flashing the modem alone using odin!
Many thanks for replies.
How do I flash only modem (sorry - new to this!)?
What would be the most stable version of semaphore to install for my phone?
Many thanks for help, Simon
Hi everyone,
I have a question that may seems a bit noobish here about the baseband version indicated in the posts regarding custom ROM flashing.
My phone shows the following baseband version number: I8190XXALK1. Is there any compatibility issue with the roms currently listed in that forum ?
Basically, is there any risk for me to brick my phone when installing a ROM for a I8190XXALK6 baseband ?
(Oh and by the way: happy holidays everyone ^^)
