if you dont find something or dont remember something then at least check out the complete folder before asking and you havent searched at all. i can say that because if you would have searched you would have come across this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17378137&postcount=1
and in that it is clearly written
" open the flashtool folder and open the drivers folder inside that. Double click on the .exe file inside and install your device's ADB driver (for W8 use the X8 ones) and the Flash mode drivers."

@IWRH
X8 does not need fastboot drivers. X8 does not have fastboot mode
If you get the message of flashing aborted then simply retry the flashing process..
My friend also getting flashing aborted on his xperia P everytime
wanna thank xda? here
mainly flashing aborts when we try to be oversmart and put the phone in flashmode and plug it in the PC..
So as for the flashing to happen normally just plug the phone into your pc normally and thed do whatever the application tells you to do..
Even if the flashing aborts then close the app and then retry again..

How far does your phone boot-up?
Do you still see something on your screen?
Does the LED still light up (when connected to the charger/USB)?
If you haven't killed the boot-loader you should be able to recover the device with Flashtool ... if the boot-loader is dead I think there's no easy way to resurrect it.
Of course the unsolved question is if it would need a intact kernel as well AND if custom kernels actually support "Flash mode".

Finally I did it! Big Thanks to you. I Installed the drivers and it recognized. big thanks
Well, that's exactly from where Vlackrs and I already recovered our phones after a bad flash ("stuck at the Sony Ericsson logo").
Start Flashtool and select "Check drivers".
If it turns out as "OK" on all three checks it seems you have the drivers installed already.
If not ... try to install Gordon's Gate (should be included with Flashtool and called "ggsetup.exe").
Follow the instructions I wrote up here to restore the device.
Note that I did NOT use Flashtool 0.5 as 0.5.0.0, 0.5.0.1 and 0.5.0.2 failed to recognize the device (and yes, I replaced the "E15.properties" with the files posted in the Flashtool thread in the Development section) - Flashtool 0.2.9.1 did the trick for us.

Hello all,
I have followed all tutorials out there to make my Xperia Z recognized in fastboot mode.
I am a developer, so the sdk is working, with all the adb stuff, I put the devices in fastboot mode with up volume button, and I tried to install the drivers provided on Sony website or on various xda thread but without success!
As you can see on attached screenshot, windows does not want to install the drivers.
Just as a note, I am not completely stupid and was able to select a directory (usb_drivers from sdk) where I placed the ini file.
Any idea on how I can fix this?
Download sony update service it has the drivers.
Sent from my C6603 using xda premium
Just tried but still the same issue..
When Update service is running, I am able to use it (boot with down volume as requested by Update Service) but no fastboot (boot with up volume)
Have you tried drivers that come with flashtool (you need to tick them at install)

I installed flashtools from official Sony website : http://developer.sonymobile.com/services/flash-tool/how-to-download-and-install-the-flash-tool/
Same result:
^Just disable driver signature verification on your Windows 7/8.
I faced a similar issue on my W8 Desktop, disabling it did the trick for me!
I have had the same issue OP. Here is what you do:
Download and install flashtool.
Go to the flashtool directory and go into the drivers folder. After that you select the drivers you need
Personally I tick the bottom 3 and install. Windows will warn you about unverified drivers, but you click install drivers and it works.
I got this flashtool from xda. it should mostly work! let us know what happens

Are we talking about the same flashtool?
When I go to the official page: http://developer.sonymobile.com/services/flash-tool/how-to-download-and-install-the-flash-tool/
flashtools is fact called "emma" and does not have a driver folder.
Official Sony flashtool website said:
How to download and install the flash tool
The flash tool for Xperia™ is actually called Emma when you install it in this Beta version, and it runs on all Windows computers.
Default path in Windows 64 bit is: “C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony Mobile\Emma\”
Default path in Windows 32 bit is: “C:\Program Files\Sony Mobile\Emma\”

The big confusion was due to the flashtoll name that is also a tool released by Sony (see link I posted)
hey guys,
hopefully someone can help me, i'm trying to unlock my bootloader to install custom kernels.
here is when i think it goes wrong:
i'm using sony's official method but when i connect the phone in fastboot mode the computer doesn't ask for drivers like it should (says in instructions).
so i can't choose the modified driver that i've downloaded from the instructions.
thanks in advance!
you may already have it installed if you have installed flashtool.
I suggest deleting all sony/adb/phone applications on your computer, rebooting, and starting again

even after a fresh install of my computer i can't get it to work.
i searched on google and found out that there are some issues with windows 8.
but after following specific instructions on windows 8 it still isn't working.
then i took an old windows vista computer from the attic and tried it with that.
it atleast asks for drivers but when i get the option to select the drivers myself it instantly disappears because the phone only stays in fastboot for about 10 seconds.
only thing i can think of is installing XP on my old system but is it normal it stays in fastboot for only 10 seconds? then it switches to charging mode.
unlock bootloader allowed is yes!
Download and install flash tool.
Run drivers.exe from the install folder.
Choose fastboot, flashmode and TX drivers.
Then try again for unlocking
Sent from my LT30p using xda premium
EDIT
W8 is a known problem with drivers. That's why is was failing before. Vista or W7 should work fine.

got the drivers installed on my w8 system with flashtool, now the phone stays in fastboot (blue light)

Open a command window and go to the tools folder within the Android SDK folder.
Enter fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce getvar version, and verify that you get a response back (for example "0.3"). This means your device is connected properly.
there is no fastboot.exe in the tools folder of sdk..
there is one in some folder of flashtool, can i use that one to complete the last point of the instruction?
Make sure you are running Google USB Driver package revision 4 or higher in your Android SDK

first i'm going to watch LA Ink on tv and then going to try to restore my backup and flash a custom kernel.
many thanks for your help! we got it working!
:good:
I need help! This is my first time I am doing this so I need all the help I could get!
I am planning to flash a custom kernel.(maybe later custom ROM,but for now only kernel) So, I know I have to unlock bootloader, install CMW and then flash. I see there are many tutorials so that will not be a problem(I hope) When I unlock bootloader I lose all my apps and data so I would like to backup it. I have TB but I am not quite sure how to operate it. Here is my explanation: I open TB, tick "Backup all user apps+system data", let it run and then what? Is there any folder on my phone that I should copy to my PC and then copy it back to my phone after I unlock bootloader? Question is, how do I backup and restore ALL of my data(apps, contacts, pictures, music, videos etc..)?
Second question is about ADB. I dont think I understand it fully. It says I have to have working and updated ADP and that is something I have to install. But I dont understand how to instal it. I got ADB in root folder for JB,someone told me that I could find it there. But how do I install it? In procedure for unlocking bootloader it says:"if you have the path to your adb defined" What does that mean? Question is, how do I install ADB and how do I use it for unlocking bootloader and flashing CMW,kernels etc..??
First part is ADB Driver

you lose nothing by unlocking. unlocking means unlocking not wiping or reseting or formating.
adb is a mode you can enter the device. so the first time you do it , u need the adb fastboot files or the whole android sdk 32bit version. after that u can either enter adb mode from recovery option menu ,either again using adb fastboot.
the adb mode is a way to communicate with the phone using the pc. to do so , of course you need the pc to know when u enter adb mode. so for the pc to know that , just like with any device, it needs drivers. those are the adb drivers. u can either find the android drivers in the forum or download and install android sdk 32bit and inside the folder where you see the adb file ,create a cmd to easy open the cmd at that specific location.
you will need to bakup before you wipe or format all your data to install a new kernel + rom. if u only go for a kernel then u lose nothing, but u are not sure u will succeed in the first try , so .. backup them up to a cloud or external sd.
careful if u dont succeed with kernel , u will need lg support tool to restore the stock rom. if u go for a custom , u will just use same way in adb mode to install the rom.
edit: i dont know if u already have the drivers. open the cmd inside fastboot and write adb devices . if u see ur device then u r ok. try adb reboot bootloader and if it goes in adb mode then reboot and do the unlocking. dont forget the all in one toolkit. will help u now that u r a beginner in this.

I recomend you to install flashtool and unlock the bootloader with it ("BLU") it is easier and faster,
To install the usb drivers I also got problems, do one thing this is how I got it to work.
connect the phone with fastboot button pressed, the PC will ask for drivers and will open the "new hardware assistant" do not allow it to install them automatically, do it manually and sellect the folder where you downloaded the drivers, in some point the phone will power off as it doesn´t get any response from PC (this is why it was not installing them properly in may case) just before pressing ok connect again in fastboot (and close the new prompt of "new hardware assistant" let the old one install the drivers and will do it properly.
Still have a problem with drivrer installation
I've try to install driver from.exefile in C:/flashtool/drivers
And I've done it with no error but I still cant install the"S1 Fastboot driver"
I dont know what to do so I try Unlock through Flashtool and I got this message(see the attached picture)

You need to install the drivers after disabling driver signature enforcement in Windows 8. If I remember correctly, I got it working by just installing the Fastboot and TX drivers from Flashtool. I did it about a year ago, so I'm not sure if Flashtool can correctly unlock bootloader already (it couldn't when I did it), so I would suggest just using fastboot.exe the way it is described in the official Sony page.
By the way: are you sure your bootloader can be unlocked?
