Hi Everyone,
I am currently seeing unacceptable battery drain on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.
Battery capacity falls at 1.4% per hour overnight when the device should be in deep sleep. The problem seems to have started when I updated to ICS. Using BBS and other apps, I have established that the KWL l2_hsic prevents my tab from sleeping when mobile data is off. When data is on, other KWLs, notably, multipdp, secril_fd-interface and PowerManagerService, take over.
I have been trying to sort this out for a few weeks but I'm no nearer to resolving the problem. The support from Samsung UK has been extremely disappointing (I'm being polite!).
Can anyone help?

The folks over at Galaxy Tab 10.1 might be of better help.
This is tab 7" forum.

Thanks, priyana.
I can't find a forum for the original SGT 10.1 so I guess I am out of luck here.
AD
On top right corner of the website, there is a box called "type to find your device"
Type in Galaxy Tab
And before you complete, a list will appear.
Anyway

Priyana,
Thanks again.
Unfortunately, the link you kindly provided takes me to version 2 of the SGT 10.1. I have the original version and have not been able to find the forum here dealing with that version. Perhaps I overlooked it so I will have another look.
AD
It is the same forum for P7100 and P7500.
Have you really asked there?
It is even more relevant to be there than here.

Hi priyana,
Thanks again!
I was thrown by a load of spiel in a prominent position at the top of the linked page that says "The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is the successor to the first popular Android tablet, the original Galaxy Tab. The Tab 10.1 differs from its predecessor...". Very confusing. Having seen that, I concluded that only the latest version of the SGT 10.1 was included.
I appreciate your help.
AD
The predecessor being this very one.
The Galaxy Tab 7" Original.
Read it as:
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is the successor to the first popular Android tablet, the original Galaxy Tab 7"
You don't think that your Galaxy Tab 10.1" is the first popular Android tablet, I hope?
Ours are. Hahaha
HI priyana,
OK, my mistake. Lots off egg on my face. Suitable emoticon?
Perhaps I should be heading off to bed!
I can now see why I was confused. Gee whiz. I used to have a brain.
Thanks for persevering with me.
I have now re-posted on the other forum.
Thanks again.

Hey whats up guys, I have a Galaxy Tab on the way from sprint.
It's my first actual official Android Device (Had a T-Mo MDA, Sprint Mogul, TP1, and TP2). I have a Touch pro 2 that I was able to put Froyo 2.2 on... But that device became too tedious and I felt it was way behind compared to most Android Devices.
So I have a couple of days between now and when I receive it.
I was doing some browsing on the capabilities but I'm 100% sure I haven't seen all of what can be done.
So I figured that everyone can chime in as to what capabilities this thing has, and other members can be informed of what their device is capable of that they didn't even know.
Rooted, and Unrooted.
I think this can help everyone being that it's all condensed in this thread.
Thanks guys
Pretty much about 90% of what you'll ever need to do.

I was, at first, a Tablet hater. Not sure what possessed me to get the Tab, I think I wanted to see what the hype was about.
I honestly, don't use my laptop much anymore. It's become such an effort to turn it on, and browse the web, when my tab is near instant. 3G is a must. Its what's made it so useful. Its just a fantastic device. Games are amazing on the 7" screen, browsing is a delight (I use Dolphin HD) and its just so portable. It'll fit into some jean pockets and most back pockets of any trousers.
I would buy a 2nd version of a Tab instantly.

We all know a lot of the main features that come on a stock tab.
But I'd like to know what you guys can do on a rooted device

My experience with my Tab has been making/editing themes, editing photos for work and I've recently been designing a website for a friend.
Obviously, each aspect is limmited to what apps are available, but whatever profession you're in, there will always be an app for you.

I think this thread already contains a lot of suggestions what you can do with your SGT

I should have bought GTAIII a couple of days ago when it was first released. I've read that it ROCKS on the Note! Now it says it's not compatible on the Note which is bull$hit since people who first bought it are running it.
Is there any way to bypass the device restriction limits in Market???
Brgds... /Tubgirl
Hey I have the apk if you want it? I wasn't able to download after paying for it. I got the apk from elsewhere in the end and it runs great.

Thank you, but I'd prefer buying it and avoid the risk of getting malware on my phone.

Any way to spoof the phone model or to temporarily use an older version of Market??
there are like 4 different versions of gta 3 on the market.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/1...ft-auto-gta-iii-is-now-in-the-android-market/
theyre all listed on that page. use your phone, aim it at the qr codes until you find one that you can download. theyre all multilanguage versions, even the jap and ger versions.
I got it by buying it from market.android.com rather than the market on the phone.
Your right its pretty good, shooting is a bit hit and miss though!

Howdy all,
I have been playing GTA 3 on my Galaxy Note for the last few months, and I think it is fantastic. I remember playing it on the PC when it was first released and I loved it then. However, I found it very hard to complete back then, in my youth. But now, on the Galaxy Note, I have completed all of the main missions and some of the side missions. However, I am curious about the rampage missions which seem to be missing from this game. I am running v1.3 with "full loaded" effects but none of the rampages are available on any of the islands, and there is no indication in the stats that there any rampages. So, has anyone else seen or completed the rampages? I vaguely remember completing the triad rampage when I had one of the previous releases (v1.0 I think). So it must have been there at some point.
Also, did anyone else notice that certain "things" changed between v1.0 and v1.3? For example, when you killed someone you could pick up money from them? Also, I vaguely recall that you could still beat someone up with the baseball bat when they were on the floor, but in v1.3 you cannot.
hey guys, i need your feedback.
galaxy note display is 1280x800 pixel right? as i understand it, that is the same resolution that is used in most android honeycomb tablets.
i would like to know if apps made for honeycomb tablets are compatible with galaxy note or not? because my main concern is the unique resolution for a smartphone that might not motivate devs to make apps compatible with it.
tell me your opinion or experience, guys. i am considering to buy this phone, so your review, opinion and experience are of utmost important to me.

like i heard, it is compatible, because tablet uses honeycomb firmware and note gingerbread atm. But ics (android 4) update will allow us to use tablet and smartphones applications without any incompatible problems ;D

you mean every app you want to install is compatible? even gameloft games? how many apps have you got installed on your note?
Games may be the biggest issue due to screen resolution. I don't use the phone for this but of the one mind game I have, the app itself is smaller than the actual screen so I have not used it since.
For general apps that follow the UI design principles to use device independant resolution they work fine. I am developing an application just now and it runs on QVGA upwards. On the Note I get a lot more shown on the screen but it is still perfectly usable on the QVGA phones too.
Cheers,
Dave...
I've had a couple of apps that don't display properly. With one major exception (robot unicorn attack) these have all been crappy little gimmicky apps. I'm sure the problem exists for other paid and 'high quality' apps, but I haven't seen it yet.

Then don't buy it!
Note that you could well have exactly the same sort of issues for any phone with a screen resolution beyond 800x480 (e.g. HTC Sensation, Galaxy Nexus etc).
Developers *should* be trying to make their applications resolution independent where possible, but this isn't always the case. However, I've had no serious compatibility issues with my Note thus far.
If you want surefire compatibility, get a Galaxy S II because that is probably compatible with the majority of applications.
Regards,
Dave

Don't wanna buy galaxy nexus because of its mediocre specs. I'm a specs crazy guy, I can't accept the fact that galaxy nexus uses the same gpu like sgs, and low MP count camera.
SGS 2 is the same like note, only with smaller screen.

All,
I know that many on XDA are pro's at using tablets but I do see some new comers seeking tips on how to use the tablet.
Below you will find a playlist link for a series of video tips for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.1 and 8.4.
I will be creating more over the next few days
Thanks
