Does anyone is getting saem issue? After JB update, launcher gots laggy (try to, while reading this, press home screen button and press fast menu button, looks like menu shows up at 20 FPS, what doesnt happen on ICS. I tested another launchers like Nova and Apex and it doesnt happen with these, what suggests its a problem with motorola launcher...

Have you tried a factory reset?
Yes, two times. If you still using launcher des secobds, it will ver smooth again, but sometimes its a little laggy, not like ICS... Does Motorola Jelly Bean came with project Butter?
Sent from my XT890 using xda app-developers app
Yes, project butter is included. I suggest you use an alternative launcher. For me a factory reset helped a lot, phone is smoother and standby is as good as with ICS.

Why is there so much lag when using the launcher in portrait mode? Everything is silky smooth in landscape. I am on CM9 btw.

I dont get any lag when in portrait mode. What launcher are you using? I use Apex.
Trebuchet but even on apex I get the lag

Hmm. Has it always been that way? What version of CM9 are you using? The Alpha or the Nightlies?
Nightlies
Sent from my cm_tenderloin using xda app-developers app
Well I have no clue since I dont have this problem and I am also using the nightlies. I havent updated my nightly to the latest one. Im still using one from over the weekend. So maybe depending on which one you are using, that could be a problem with that build. Thats the only explanation I have for it.
Can you give me a link to that nightly please?

http://get.cm/?device=tenderloin
Just pick a different nightly and see if your issue gets fixed.
youre getting lag in what? when you switch screens, when you launch an app, when you launch the app drawer?? what exactly is lagging? you can also check certain settings such as "surface dithering" "16 bit transparancy" etc in the performance options in the settings menu.
whats your dpi setting? also +1 for apex launcher as the other person mentioned.

I remember reading something similar. In portrait, it's trying to resize the widgets and what not. It can't do it right, thus the lag. It mentioned a launcher that works, but for the life of me I can't remember which. Maybe the new Go Launcher EX, but not sure. I'll post the link if I find it.
I've noticed this since alpha 2. A lot of the UI elements including all of the virtual button animations and even the ICS settings get a bit slow/laggy in portrait. I've noticed this in both trebuchet and go launcher.
I have the same problem.
its kindah laggy and too many FC.
is this just me or what?

Jelly Bean is by no means stable yet, and the helly bean rom is not official cm10 for the captivate. Once official is released and we get past alpha, FC's should reduce significantly
The ROM is in it's early stages of JB, so it's probably going to be a few updates before it starts to smooth out. It looks like people in that thread are experiencing some of that lagging too.

Yes. Camera is FC.
Helly Bean V10 is better.
Camera is not working. However Fast Burst Camera and ucam from the play store is working intermittently. Downloaded music will not work, however streaming music (ie Pandora) works fine. It took me three tries to load the ROM to get it to go past the remics loading screen and I had to go into settings/apps/all - apex launcher and clear the cache and then reboot into recovery and fix permissions in order to get apex launcher to work right.

I tried 3x to flash the REM jb rom and had no camera....Helly bean works just fine. Actually I haven't experienced any FC, camera works, in fact everything works.
After tried with cm7.2, i using stock (dxkt6 2.3.6) for stable and bugfree. However, this rom is laggy! It sometime lag when unlock, srolling in apps, change page in launcher. Special, the dialer is lag too, it take ~5s to lauch, one times, the dialer hang with black screen that i must restart phone.
Is this lag because i install more app? (I install ~50 apps) that use more RAM?

I don't think so, its some bugs in the stock itself, im using stock and it feels the same way as you. I hear galaxy y got a stablity update yesterday/ recently, i hope mini gets one too.
I never had stock freezing or black screen issues. But yea its laggy kind of :/
I had one timea only, the dialer hang with black screen, but other apps is work ok
It seem stock use more RAM cause phone laggy

I just picked up a Black HTC ONE and so far I love this phone only thing I'm annoyed by is I am having lag when scrolling and in animations when opening apps and unlocking the phone. I'm not rooted yet cause I am holding off for a little while until development picks up. Is any one else having these kind of problems??? Should I try a factory reset and if I do a factory reset do I have to do a complete wipe of all my photos and music???

don't have this problem. mine is as smooth as a baby's bottom. lol

That sucks for me. My home screen scrolling is fine just in apps it is jumpy

Mine is rooted but still on stock Rom and kernel and it's super smooth.
I would back everything up and go for a factory reset

Home screens and animations have been nothing but smooth for me..But facebook and twitter and most apps that are not native that have vertical scrolling has been choppy..Not enough for me to care though.
Have you tried simply restarting the phone? Give it a restart, and let it settle for about 10 minutes (Android does a LOT of stuff on bootup, even after the launcher appears).

I dont own this device but i might pick one up soon however i would like to know weather the homescreen lag on xperia z still exists. Many reviewer complain about it but they are running old software versions i guess. So espacially after 4.2 update is there still any lag? And if yes how does it look like if you are running a custom kernel? I really hope there is a way to fix that because i dont want to see it.
I have not experienced any lags continuosly with my homescreen on 4.2.2, but sometimes it i see 1 minimal lag when playing with the homescreen for 2mins or so. compared to Samsung galaxy s4, that s4(my friends device) lags far more than my xperia on 4.2.2.
Yes there are kernels that can even improve the smoothness of the homescreens, but I would suggest you to try another launcher like novalauncher, that never lags at all!
Then it also depends on was apps are running in the background like Facebook etc
