[Q]Low on volume space. - Motorola Droid Bionic

Forgot header, trying to fix.
Some what noob to Bionic.
Use xt875 daily with 4.0.4.
16g storage with 32g ext sd card.
Getting the following message:
Low on volume space.
Internal storage space is getting low.
Safestrap is installed with 2 roms working pluse 4.0.4.
Selected the lowest setting when creating slots.
Is Safestrap and these roms causing the problem?
How is this solved?

Where is the low volume showing up? On unsafe (stock ROM) or when you run Custom ROMs?

Thank you for replying.
Went through 4.0.4 which is stock and deleted or froze everything I dared.
Did same with 32gb external sdcard.
Went through cm10, deleted and froze as earlier.
Ran 4.0.4 a day or so without the error occuring.
Did same with cm10 without error. Or, the low system error anyway. It still has problems on my Bionic.
It seems to be okay for the moment but... there is not a lot on either rom.
I wonder if It just comes back when I add data.
Thanks again for replying.
dlw

I get the same thing if I try to have 4 slots each as 1Gb. I did the same thing and debloated my unsafe and only run 3 slots right now until I figure out if a better fix is available.

Apps2Sd Causing Massive Hairloss

Rooted G1, 8g microSD. Had been running CM for months with no real issues. Was running w/ fat32/ext2/swap partitions and all apps were installing to card(ext) w/o exception. Recently decided to try another rom, so wiped, repartitioned, etc etc. Didn't like rom. Back to CM. I have been trying on and off now for 3 weeks to get apps to install to sd w/ no luck. Tried repartitioning on pc via gparted, partitioning via recovery (AmonRa). Tried defanged/cm/radio, even dropped back to rc29 and then back up from there. Same issue. Once I get CM installed, all installed apps seem to be reducing internal memory unlike my original CM install. Only thing I haven't tried is using a different card, although I don't understand why a fully repartitioned/reformatted card would not work fine.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve this issue?
BTW, I hate to post a message with a topic that is present in so many others, but trust me, I've read a load of posts and still can't figure out what's happening.
Tnx,
MisterP0P0
Y did u repartition after switching roms, all u need is a wipe before the flash
How much system space are you talking about?
If you're showing 70+Mb's w/ the stock or Hard SPL or 80+MB's w/ the Danger SPL your apps are being stored on your SD card <- This applies to Cyanogen builds, probably other donut based builds also
Some of the sytem apps will remain on your internal storage, and with each app install your internal storage will decrease slightly but should not decrease by the full size of the app
All may be well.... seem to be hovering around 61 megs free. I've installed 10 apps or so...
Yep... it's working. Now to decide whether to use swap a/o compcache. Any suggestions?

Low on Space error always coming back!

A few months ago I flashed the ICS Slim rom onto my gf's Sgs 1 and then after about a month started having error message "Low on Space", "Phone storage space is getting low" and most apps would not run and just start crashing (Sorry ......... has stopped unexpectedly. Force Close. on attempt to launch.
So i checked the internal and sd memory and she still has well over a gb of memory available on both, i tried a simple reboot. I have even formatted, wiped cache, dalvik and even flashed cyanogenmod 7.2 gb onto it thinking it could be due to the partition of ICS which it still may well be.
Anyway after roughly a month on and the "Low on Space" error and all the force closing of apps is back.
Can anyone shed some light. How can i revert it all back to how it once was. Happy with Cyanogenmod but without these problems.
Thanks in advance
Hey man, try the datafix app by Zatta. The ROMs you've been running use a '/datadata' partition on the phone's faster oneNAND storage to store apps, because the larger 2GB that normally stores apps is slow and causes the lag you see on stock ROMs. But the datadata partition is only 170MB, so it fills up quickly (and you get those low storage notifications).
The datafix app installs a script which sorts it all out for you, and explains the details. Hopefully that'll work, if not then search for the actual script on xda, but you'll have to flash it using recovery. Hope this helps you out!

Slow internal SD card

I'm facing some kind of problems and wonder if this is CyanogenMod related or hardware related.
The last days when I transfer files to my internal SD card the transfer sometimes fails, sometimes takes a long pause, or it goes nearly as fast as it used to. Transfering to my external SD goes fast. And when i restore a backup it has started to take "forever". A week ago it took 2-3 minutes, now it is 10-11. My backups are on my external SD, and considering transfering files to my external is fast I don't see the path here.
Also in SD card tester the test starts with a speed of about 20 mb/s, but it slows down to about 4 mb/s after a couple of seconds.
Anyone who have any thoughts? Should I flash stock rom and triangle away and prepare for a warranty case?
No thoughts?

I have exactly the same problem........
I cant record video to my Internal SD as it freezes or skips.
Write speeds are very slow.
What Kernel are you using? Are you using Init.spripts?
I found that its read ahead related within the kernels I was using.
Perseus Kernel ver34 and higher have a major problem with this for me.
If I flash ver 33 and lower, I dont have this problem.
Try using Perseus ver32. It solved this for me, but even the latest Siyah Kernel has problems.
I was meaning to ask in the kernel threads why this is happening.
Also, try getting rid of scripts that change the read ahead.
If possible, try transferring everything over to your external SD and format your internal one in CWM.
This should help if there are any file corruption problems - just pray its not Sudden Death issue.
If all else fails, I would send it in.

Thank you very much for your reply.
For the moment I'm on cyanogenmod with stock cm kernel. Cm doesn't support other kernels for the i9305 at the moment.
I have used scripts earlier, but I've tried to disable them. Don't know if there are any files left too delete, that's possible.
Today I noticed my external SD card has become slower too. It is fast to begin with, and slows down after some seconds. This is strange, all I have on my external is music and backups.
I'm wondering if I should try to restore a backup of stock rooted samsung rom and see what happens.
Formating my internal is maybe an option, but I'm very nervous to start such a project.

What I have done since I had CyanogenMod 10.1:
1: Restored Samsung based rom, did not help.
2: Used triangle away.
3: Flashed stock firmware via Mobile Odin and unrooted, did not help, actually it got worse.
4: Instsalled Viber and got major problem with a constant wakelock and crazy clock speeds.
5: Because I was planning of doing a factory reset I moved rom files and Titanium backup files from internal to external SD card and rebooted. All of a sudden everything is like it should be some minutes after the reboot. Both internal and external SD cards have near warp speed!
What is happening?? What caused this and why is it better now..? Can the Titanium backup files have disturbed something in some way..?

Mount issue with internal SD Card-is there a permanent fix?

Thank you to all the developers on here.
I recently wiped everything, flashed the Baked ROM and got the following error messages when trying to use the camara:
---------
No Storage
No external storage available
Insert an SD card before using the camara.
-------------
I have just over a gig available on my internal card and have 27 gig on my external card. So the capacity is not the issue. I also can't download podcasts since it is giving me a similar error message.
I tried sdswap but when I went to reboot, got stuck on the boot animation for a half hour.
I then went into cwm recovery, wiped everything and tried the AOSP ICS 4.04 ROM, but ran into the same issue. I then wiped everything again and tried the AOKP 4.2.2 ROM and am still getting the same errors.
My phone works fine, but I can't take pictures or download any attachments till this gets fixed.
I searched the forums for the exhibit and saw some temporary fixes.....but all of those fixed are gone when phone is rebooted. I don't want to have to do a fix after every reboot. Please help.
Thanks,
David

This is bizarre, I wonder if your device is/was/has gone bad? Also I would avoid SwapSD unless it's been determined the ROM is 100% compatible based on user comments. Those things cause more problems then they solve sometimes. Also have you checked file apps like ES Explorer to see if your cards are being read? Check settings/storage and if you are getting reads on all three storage elements then something else is at work. In that case IDK?!

Thanks. Es file explorer recognizes the external sd card...but clicing on storage (internal sd card), it says its unmounted.
I rebooted into cwm recovery... mounted only the internal sd card, rebooted, and es file manager still says it is unmounted. You are probably right, probably a hardware issue, but it's weird how if I go to system settings, storage, it tells me how much available internal storage I have available which implies the internal sd card is mounted...

During my recent trials, I have learned that you can't mount your ext sd card with CWM, but you have to do it with a computer (at least, that's what I read). CWM was not recognizing my ext sd, either. I did not spend time learning how to get the ext card recognized, as I was worried about solving other problems, but I do remember that CWM can't mount your external card.

I think you meant to say internal sd. Either way, I did read that hooking it up to the laptop will mount it... but I don't want to have to do that after everytime I reboot.... just seeing if there is a permanent fix.
thanks

Btw you're not using an app called SD Card Boost are you? If so that is what's causing your problem as the exact same thing happened to me when using that.

Nope--- this whole thing is due to me being a NOOB. NOOB's take notice! Don't be like me.
I realize what the problem was....after switching to baked bean ROM originally, I did a backup with cwm... not realizing that the back up would take most of my internal sd space.... I had less than 100 mb left on the internal card and so the internal card shuts down, even though it has plenty of space to take a few pictures or download some pdfs... it just wasn't accessable.
I freed up another 100 mb on the internal... and lo and behold I can take pictures or download. Now I have the option when using the camera to use the external sd card (not sure why it doesn't give you that option to begin with)...
I was looking at the wrong setting earlier.... I saw I had .96 gig available... but that must have been the ram...not the internal sd card.
Sorry for wasting everyone's time.... I am back to the 4.2.2 AOKP rom and loving it. Sorry everyone.
Hey, I'm kinda having a similar problem (since it's similar and from my lack of posts I cant post on the 4.4 thread. I thought I'd ask here ).
When I flash the 4.4 ROM, it seems my external and internal sd isn't mounted, it gives me an "invalid path" when using Es File Explorer.
Not sure if this is a problem everyone has and it's not fixed yet (If its even a problem at all), or I'm just having this problem, lol.
I'm not receiving this problem on any other rom I flash just the 4.4.
Note: I wipe Dalvik, Cache, and Data. I also tried wiping my system and Ext SD. I tried to Google a solution, but all I found was weird ritual answers, like take out battery and sd. Wait 5 min, while you wait, do the Hokey Pokey, lol.

Unfortunately this is a bug with 4.4. The internal card actually should show up twice in ES Explorer (4.4 ROM only), and only 1 path invalid. The external card has path problems in Titanium Backup and RAM Expander. This is why I ended up not using KitKat for this phone.

Asylum Omni 4.4.3 - Internal SD card slow

Hi.
I'm using Asylum Omni 4.4.3. Yesterday I tried to copu a big file (1,2 Gb) from external SD card (sdcard1) to internal SD card (sdcard0) but at 800Mb the copy stopped. I restarted the phone and tryied with small data and found that, if the data is more than 100Mb, it's easy that the copy stops and the phone have to be reboooted because it remains stuck.
If I try to use the internal SD for backup using TWRP, I'm able to save 1,5Gb of data without problems.
Instead the copy from sdcard0 to sdcard1 is working flawlessly.
I know that in KitKat there were many SD card issues.
But is it possible that 2 different sdcard on the same device have different behaviour ?

Thanks a lot for the hint.
I read the thread.
The weird thing is that I hadn't the problem with SlimBean 4.4.
Then I started to use SlimSaber, and release after release the device had some weird lock, that disappeard using an 4.4 kernel from Chasmodo.
So I tried Asylum Omni.
The external card seems ok even is VFAT and full of music. I listen music everyday with N7Player without issue.
The problem is during writing the internal sdcard, that is an ext4. And happens only with file bigger. Reading is not a problem too, as I simetimes watch films that are in the internal sd card without problems.
Today I tried to move a 2 Gb file with "adb shell" while in recovery and it worked. Slowly, but worked.
I have to try some old release of SlimBean to verify if the problem disappear. I got all my old nandroid somewhere in my notebook.

After switching to exfat for both internal and external(Or sometimes ext4, if i swap out). I never had a problem, and good speeds. That is my recommendation.
I would not spent to much time looking for another way to make it work, because what seems to work for some does not work for others. But exfat seems to fix it for everyone.

Just to notify that SlimKat 4.4 seems not to have such problem. I'ts not fast as SlimSaber or Asylum Omni, but file transfert seems ok.
