[Q] list of apps to safely freeze on stock rom - Motorola Atrix HD

Could someone please post a list of apps that could safely be disabled for a stock rooted jb
I have looked into some of the custom roms but so far am happy with the stock rom, just want some more
Of the att and motorola crap frozen...any help woild be greatly appreciated

Disable from settings>apps>all
Anything starting with AT&T
Ypmobile and LiveTV.
You can't disable the AT&T Address book, don't remove it. If an OTA comes you're gonna have to flash the stock again.

ROM

Question... I have a stock rooted 2.2 Galaxy Tab 7 on VZW. What is the best way for me to get Gingerbread *without* losing my data? Will the upgrade kill my root? Are there ROMs that I can just flash over this? I am still on Stock Recovery. I only need Gingerbread so I can use Google Talk with Video. My understanding is it won't work on FroYo and I tried VTOK which sucks.

Nah, your best bet is to flash a 2.3.x ROM (Overcome 4.0 is solid) while wiping everything. You could try to restore your apps from Nandroid or Titanium, but that way leads to weird issues. Wiping sucks, but the minor pain you'll have from reinstalling your apps will be quickly forgotten once you're on a better ROM with a better kernel.
Does that require CWM or can be done through ODIN? Can I "try" without wiping or is it mandatory?
Also how do I get one meant for VZW, not GSM or Sprint?

You better read instuctions on their site http://www.teamovercome.net/ - they fully inform you about how to save your data (like using SMSBackup, titanium - one tip from my site: spend the money for the pro version of titanium to relief your pain)
I'm sure, you'll be happy with that upgrade!
Their website flatout says the ROM won't support cdma....?

BUmp........
I wondered about this. I flashed the Galaxy Cubed 3 Rom (and that's just a 2.3.5 Rom) and wondered why on my nexus i could video chat through google but on my tab i couldn't. so until we get an update to either Honeycomb or ICS we won't be able to video chat thru google?
Bump? How do I get 2.3 VZW rooted

[Q] Verizon Motorola Droid 4 Stock ROM

Hi,
I just recently got a Verizon Motorola Droid 4 phone and rooted it.
I then removed some applications I didn't think I needed.
It turns out that I removed one I needed (com.motorola.blur.providers.contacts) and now I have a few applications crashing and contacts don't work anymore.
Does anyone know where I can find a copy of the Stock ROM for my phone I can load to fix this?
Or a way to add that application back? I did back it up with TitaniumBackup before I removed it but it seems I can't restore it with that program.

I was able to find a system dumb and use Root Explorer to add the files ContactsProvider2_0.apk and ContactsProvider2_0.opex back to /system/apps and set the correct permissions.
Now my contacts works and I'm not getting any crashes from system apps now.

Removing system apps: cannot root

I have recently Restored my N1 from an ICS ROM and am back on Gingerbread 2.3.6.
I am wanting to remove some system apps but I cannot for the life of me find out how to root the N1.
Much googling has lead me to dead ends and dead links and I feel I am missing something really obvious that everyone else but me knows.
The guides I have found on rooting all appear to involve custom ROMs which I don't want at the moment.
The bootloader is still unlocked and I know at some point in the past I did have the device rooted on gingerbread but I can't remember how?
try www.unlockroot.com

Yep, that worked
Thanks.
If I may be so bold... what would be the best app to use to actually remove the system apps?
I have used one in the past but found that when I removed anything it would shut off the nexus completely and not actually remove anything.
use titanium backup. it would be safe to hv a backup via a custom recovery, before removing system apps...

thanks... i don't use sdcard so i tried the adb sideload and worked perfect and didn't lose root using voodoo ota root keeper
Any reason why this wouldn't work with rooted stock rom and stock recovery? All system apps in TB are unfrozen as well.
Also, what's the worst that could happen? It errors out?

Thank you.
Worked perfect!
Did the update, but can't update any existing apps through Play Store or download any new ones.
Get the error:
"Error retrieving information from server. [RPC:S-5:AEC-0]"
What did I do wrong? Anyone else getting this error? Easy fix?

Not sure, but try to remove your google account, and re-add it back. That MAY solve the issue

I am on MDL rooted with a bunch of mods/tweaks/custom kernel. How do I update to MF9? Also does this include the radio/modem or is this just the ROM?

When you Odin the file, everything gets updated - modem, kernel, and build. What I did was first Odin the MDL package, reboot into stock recovery and flash the MF9 update and reboot, and then perform factory data reset. Everything is working smoothly.
Thanks for this.
However, I personally, see no reason to update?
I have my phone ALMOST the way I want.
A huge feature for me, would be, to ENABLE apps/widgets on a passworded lockscreen.
This is a huge inconvenience as far as I am concerned.

Go to this post, download CF's auto root, that will both root your MF9 + revert your recovery to stock.

PLEASE HELP. How to PERMANENTLY delete stock apps from device?

Hey everyone.
Sorry if this is an elementary question, but I'm not very experienced yet.
How the bell do I permanently delete a device's stock apps? I have an AT&T HTC One, rooted, and have used ROM Toolbox Pro to delete AT&T's ridiculous apps. And they just appear again.
Any advice? Thanks.
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I think this is a 4.4.2 issue. Over here on my Nexus (that I can't wait to get rid of), even with TB uninstalling the apps doesn't do anything. Best option I found was to disable them in the settings.
Sent from my Bullet Time Rasta Nexus
idk if this will help you but i've noticed that if you update those apps and try to delete it , it'll "delete" but comes back after reboot so don't update any apps you're looking to delete.keep it factory fresh
also since you're rooted try another file explorer that has root..go to the system/app folder and delete and also check data/app folder
