[Q] Undervolting on stock rom - Galaxy S III I9305 (4G LTE + 2GB RAM) Q&A, Help &

Hi I'd like to clarify something.
I've used CF autoroot to get root access, which means I have stock ROM on. I've read elsewhere that in order to undervolt, you need to have a kernel that supports it. The stock ROM/kernel doesn't support undervolting right?
So if I want to undervolt, I must have a different kernel?

yes

Perseus Kernel allows you to undervolt

perseus like stock kernel !
What settings do i have to configure inorder to make cpu scaling less ( sampling and more specifically cpu freq changing )
.. and make it behave more like stock kernel ? ... i only need undervolt! and rest same as samsung defaults !

Is it necessary to use setcpu on OC kernels?

There are plenty of oc kernels out there for us to choose. But almost all kernels freeze my SGS. The kernels are ya-ok, super optimized, jfs lagfix. I believe other kernels will give me same result
I proudly as a noob want to ask, how to use oc kernels properly? Do I need to install setcpu? If it's needed, what settings should I set?

[Q]What does rom overclocking depend on ?

nearly every rom has a flashable zip file via cmw to overclock cpu to definite speed but the questien is :what does rom overclocking depend on ? that makes a rom overclock cpu to a definite speed and another rom to another speed ?
What makes a ROM overclockable is its kernel. So when you install a .zip file to overclock, you are installing a new kernel, or a patch to it. So it will be possible for you to overclock. And the speed is dependable on the kernel. Different ROMs may be the same OC speed (not necessarily the same kernel, but one with similar speed configuration).
The Rom developer overclocks CPU by understanding the safest overclockable frequency by identifying chipset of mobile. Then he edits ramdisk in boot.img

AbyssNoteKernel for GPU OC safe or not?

(Please read entire post before answer)
Hi. I have a Galaxy Note GT N7000 which is known to have the eMMC brickbug. This has been confirmed by Chainfires App: Gotbrick. Now currently i am running on a safe kernel which is the Franco's Kernel r6 which has the eMMC_erase function disabled. I however want to overclock my GPU on the note and i have come across this tutorial: http://www.techirks.com/how-to-overclock-samsung-galaxy-note/
In this tutorial after i downloaded the Package it has a kernel which supports GPU Overclock called: AbyssNOTEKernel33CustomLogo.zip
I know that the Abyss Note kernel 4.2 is a safe kernel(Correct me if im wrong) but this kernel included in the package is a safe kernel or not is the main problem im facing as i dont want to go ahead and brick my phone just for the sake of Overcloking it. If anyone can help me out it would be really appreciated.
Cheers!
I have carefully read the guide ;http://www.techirks.com/how-to-overclock-samsung-galaxy-note/. Don't worry about brick ,because it is in the guide you how crack TEGRACK OVERCLOCK for Lucky Patcher,For the question ABYssNOTE kernel It is only updater script ,update binary..For example you can use this script to modify OVERCLOCK GPU ;http://i.minus.com/mfmhZcRMh/gallery.zip , In poor words overclock the GPU by decreasing the lag (0.000 ... ), and makes the relative undervolt simply extract the contents of the script in the system /etc/init.d with root explorer, restore permissions and restart the mod is good for all of the rom. I have only tested on darky and midnote for now ....
You are on Franco R6 =ICS. Abyss kernel is for GB.
As with OC even on whatever kernel you are, there will always be a risk of hardware damage as you will be running your hardware at what is supposed to be the optimum level.
Try Goku kernel for ICS if you want, based on speedmod.

If you use abyss kernel on ics it will NOT boot up.

overclock note??

Just rooted my note n7000 on gb 2.3.6 indian kernel-- LC1 wanted to know how can i overclock it??
PLZZ HELP
as you have just rooted your phone and still in GB, I would not suggest overclocking yet. How about flash the JB ROMs posted here and use it for some time and if the performance is not acceptable for you find a compatible kernel that can be overclocked and flash that.
I do not particularly think that JB has better performance than GB, and overclocking does have risks of it's own (may fry the phone up ). You can overclock with custom kernels that support overclock using apps like performance control after flashing the kernel.

Question Kernel Changes?

I understand we are not able to flash any custom kernel since there are none available with this device having limited dev support.
However, if rooted can we change settings with a kernel manager with the CPU and GPU? Installed EX Kernel Manger and set the CPU governor to "performance" but not seeing any speed or performance increases
