Can we get multi windows function for galaxy mini ?
can you take a look at minis display size and ask yourself "what would be actual point of that?"

With 600mhz and less than 512mb ram, its not possible to have a proper multiwindow experience and yes the screen is too small.
I don't think its possible since we use cm build and they don't have this feature
I think this feature is made by Samsung Devs themselves and is closed source

Yeah , we cannot have for mini.
You can get floating browser and video player from google play store. Then you will know how small your minis screen is

"multi windows"? What do you mean? Is it like multi windows on Galaxy Note?
so much hate in this thread...instal latest cm10.1 and instal this
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bjbinc.multiwindowmanager&hl=en
and than you can see what is the mini capable of in that matter

you need to change build prop name of d device, but realy is not worth it...its for huge screens and tablets
i really don't know what is wrong with you guys, why you even expect galaxy mini to work like a new phone? it's getting older every day, and just because we have newest android on it (thanks to highly skilled developers, who are willing to spend their free time to make it happen) doesn't mean that it will perform like nexus 4 or galaxy note 2... seriously, get a grip of reality and save up for a new phone or deal with the fact that mini is getting obsolete...

Hey,
Unfortunately I don't think this is possible due to the size of the processor in our phone.
From what I've heard the S2 only just got Multi-window working properly- and this is a phone with at least double the power of our Galaxy S.
The closest we can get is apps in Play Store- stuff such as Stick it!, Super Video, AirCalc, Pop-up Browser, etc etc.
Sad though, I'd really love to see this phone do that

We don't have the RAM in our phones to handle multiple workspaces, the phone is struggling enough as it is... (we're talking about running two desktops at the same time)

Nothing is impossible..as you can see Samsung didn't cared to release updates after GB..but our mighty development staff..provided us with ICS n JB..that too running better than Samsung's GB..
Ubuntu OS ,currently only for Nexus Devices..official launch in October 2013..so wait for sources to leak..then development will begin..

This thing isn't even remotely as easy as ICS/JB was. The system image itself is huge and the os is a ram hog so unless someone finds a way to optimize the way it uses resources and such, no way

Why is it so resource heavy? Is there a specific area it needs it for? It strikes me as a relatively simple OS.

Google and checkout for the video of the Ubuntu OS as explained in the ces 2013 on YouTube. With so much to offer, you can't really expect it to be light enough to run on our phones. It will take up a lot of ram obviously. Besides, Ubuntu for ace ?! :what: We're just building castles in mid-air if we think that it's happening any time soon.

I presume that there is a lot of background duties going on which clogs the RAM.

Why not Ubuntu for Ace?
Ace already have a half working CM10.1 (4.2.2). Who would have thought it would work in the galaxy ace...
Ubuntu I guess it should be the same, slow, and half things working. But it would still work.

Ubuntu doesn't support armv6 so that's the first problem also every single app that I'd on there would have to be ported and every future app will also have to be ported also with regards to the cm 10.1 port the device needs a proper cm port in order for it to count look at it like this
Galaxy s2 - stable cm10.1 horribly laggy crashy Ubuntu (it's a dev preview but still)
Galaxy ace horrible laggy crashy cm10.1.+ armv6 architecture- lucky if it boots up
I'm not gonna go so far as to say it won't happen but you would have to find a dev crazy enough to try porting it and even if he/she (don't wanna be sexist) defys all odds and makes it the same speed as on nexus devices (I.e horribly laggy) it would still have guaranteed very limited usability because of Ubuntu's lack of armv6 support

We don't have great device
And Ubuntu Touch is not yet released in daily driver form for any device. It's like alpha or beta.
Agreed with nishanty13 and ast00.
We don't have a great spec devices (c'mon, ARMV6 Processor, LDPI screen, 600 Mhz processor ? You gotta' be kidding me) and Ubuntu touch isn't stable yet. It still hanging around on Alpha stage.
Ubuntu Touch is just "preview", nothing works except browser. There isn't any real application on it, cannot do anything, it likes a set of screenshots of real OS.
*I know because I've tried installing and using it, but it has nothing to use *

Yeah, agreed with you. I already installed it in my Nexus, but yeah, nothing is great. It's hard porting a full blown desktop experience to a phone. Also, our Mini isn't great at all, you can't just go beyond limit, our Mini is a ARMV6 powered phone with 256 MB RAM, what's so great that you want fully blown Ubuntu Touch ?
No offence but i disagree with idea of porting it.
Honestly....porting is not impossible but really is it even worth it....

I don't think it's wort it...only if you have a SIII or SIV maybe but on a device such as our mini i would wish that cm10.1 to become stable and official that wold be more than enough for me
i don't think it would have any interrest right now

highly unlikely, touchwiz is samsungs skin for android and those other features are more likely Samsung proprietary code and drivers so I doubt they would get ported

Why didn't he just bought a Samsung device....?
1 and 2 are possibly portable to Xperia.
3,4,5 are apps leveraging the sensors in the phone. Samsung has these sensors and made apps to showcase them. May not hold true for Z.

Only number 5 is impossible as it is a hardware feature, the others are doable... but good ****ing luck finding someone who actually wants to spend with TouchWiz, let alone take on the monster job of porting the crap to the XZ.
Whenever i flash roms like lenio(which people are calling the fastest rom and such) i am experiencing major lag while scrolling between app drawer, entering the app drawer. even while switching off the screen(the tv effect thing) i am experiencing lag. The only thing i can answer :
1. PLAY MORE WITH ROM
So, how much fast do you want exactly ?
Remember, your phone IS GALAXY MINI. Not an S4, so no ROM won't be as fast as S4. Galaxy Mini is a totally low on spec (no offense, but it's true). Wan't to get faster ROM, simple, buy a faster phone.

The optimum / optimized size is 512 MB.
