I just got this phone and I took the battery out to find out which xperia is it. And it says E15a... And I think its the X8.
Now I want to format and flash a different ROM. Will anything that works on the X8 work on my phone? Or is it a different phone?
Thanks.

Yes they are the same. There's four firmwares that i know and they E15a(yours),E15i,E16a and E16i(mine).You can also change the firmware of these to the other one.

It's the same phone. In fact, I have the same model as you, and I'm using ROMs for the X8 (e15i) without problems
Cool, so now I'd like to format the phone and make it as new but with a good Rom. I heard GingrDX is good.. Any tutorials around?

Everything here about xperia x8 is applicable to the w8 as well. Basically anything you see here for x8 can be used for w8. Froyo (android 2.2) roms here are usable on the w8. E.g. Froyobread, Racht's floyo roms etc. can be used on the w8.

Can it be vice versa, I mean, can I use original W8 firmware from SEUS on my X8?

I saw someone post that he managed to flash W8 firmware onto his X8 using SEUS . I haven't tried it out, but I think there are several threads on X8 dev section that have instructions on how to flash W8 firmware to X8. Search for them.
Note: They're probably not on the first page of dev section.
Ok, I'll look for it, or more simple, I'll just flash it and post results
Edit: Can't download stock firmware on SEUS, says that I have already newest firmware and there is no "Next" option, which usually is on Custom>Stock 2.1

i want to ask that if i install froyo roms on my w8 will it void my warranty
Sent from my w8 using xda premium
Yes, but rooting itself did it already
But if you flash 2.1 via Flashtool again , it will be there again, and you can send it to SE if you have problems.
So just donĀ“t worry about that.
My sony ericsson w8 have very less phone memory so i am not able to install more applications

hey peeps.. i bought a xperia x8 from asia and it had an unknown baseband. After updating to gb through companion it gave me a baseband. Phone works before and after update. I was just wondering why was it unknown before. whats the diff. I can still flash?
Sent from my SGH-I747M using xda app-developers app
LOL, are you trolling? x8 never had gb.
Sent from my E15i using xda premium
LOL bro, I think you are mistaken if u think you upgraded to 2.3.7 through PCC (i hope that's an X8)....You might be only at 2.1
Now about the baseband~
Your X8 is actually a computer with a GSM modem attached to it. So there is the Operating System for the computer half of the phone and the Baseband is like the OS for the Modem half. Get it?
When people have a "locked" phone its baseband is limited to certain cards only and when it is hacked to allow all the cards, we call it unlocking.
I hope you are now clear with the thing ^_^
Happy 2 help!
at all you can do flash new roms again!

Looks like you've unlocked the bootloader to install nAa kernel. Did you make sure that your phone manufacturing date is before 11W29?

It was working till I decided I will get it unlocked by one of the guys from high street. Since then I have had problem and SIM card doesn't connect to operator O2.
I have reinstalled original rom but still sim can't connect to network. I then reinstalled ginger dx v25 rom. Still no network. Wonder whether the guy trying to unlock switched off the network radio in it.
Would be grateful if someone can help.
Thanks
My X8 is currently running a GingerXperia the latest version. When I reboot my phone, it directly got it self to ClockWorkMod settings. I scrolled down and pressed the wipe cache partition, I think it won't affect my phone because I used to do that in xRecovery but now I used it on ClockWorkMod. I turned off my wifi because I don't wan't to use it on school. But when I got home, I turn on the wifi and It only shows"connecting..." without detecting any wifi signal then minutes later it shows "disconnected". Our wifi is fine, and our neighbors have some wifi too, But my x8 can't detect them. I'm wondering what's wrong with my x8 and what is the best way to get rid of that problem? I know some of you had or have a same problem like mine. Please Help me, I don't know what to do. Sorry for the bad English it isn't my Primary language.

Really? Please tell me, and what is the fast and stable rom that you've ever used? It's my first time modding a phone and having an android phone. I want fast and stable rom, without any bugs, and smooth in gaming without any lags.

The most of the roms now are stable and very good for daily use, I can't tell "this" is the best rom because I respect everyone's work, what I can tell you is that I recommend you gingerdx, as I think its pretty much complete. This doesn't mean anything. You may don't like it, so its up to you what rom suits you better.
Also you can use gingerdx with both stock and custom kernel.(have you unlocked your bootloader? If not, download roms that are for stock kernel,at gingerdx thread you will find two versions one for stock and one for custom)
No lags at games is not that easy especially if you are talking about heavy games, in that case I recommend you to buy a new phone

I suggest you to install GingerDX v30! I am using GingerDX since v15 and I am very satisfied! Especially v30 (the last one) is very fast, faster than any other roms I have tried!
Hello Xperia X8 community i came from X10 lol , i come in peace !! well my friend has a X8 and he is a totally noob , dunno too much about android and rooting things , well the phone lost the system i know how to get it back by SEUS , my question is : whats the difference between Shakria, Robyn and Mimmi ?? and whats is Nightly means ??
and install the MiniCm10 rom is just like normal roms in X10 right , just flash the kernel the do the format stuff then install right ??
Btw i'm kinda noob i just don't too much about developing !!
Shakira, robynn, mimmi i think its devices internal code name. And i dont know who are robynn and mimmi are but the first name you mentioned was clearly X8!!!
Sent from my E15i using xda app-developers app
Ohh i see , well i just open the phone cover , and there is E15i i think its Shakira like yours , so i will put shakira then , but 1st i think i should unlock my bootloader to load the kernel :/ so it gonna take time to go back to stock lol
Yup good luck! But make sure your X8 is under 11W29 if higher than 29 ect 30 31 and you may hardbrick your X8.
I know its a basic advice but it should remind you about the risks.

Robyn and Mimmi are codenames for X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro.

i think the main difference about these devices is there firmware? (correct me if im wrong) and Nightly means ROM releases that are unstable and is being changed from it's every release :victory:
Thanks for all the replies, well i fixed the phone like i do to my x10, and i guess it updated to latest version, now its on cm10 shakira, well the main difference between them is the device model i read that in seus, just like X10, got X10i or X10a so thanks any way
