or is it just because temple run uses 99% ?

re: battery
Mine is sometimes crazy. the drain is slow but i only have wifi on when I need it, I dont use £G often at all, I close all the apps in the multitasking window, I sometimes go as far as going into settings/apps and kill any background apps like hotmail that always runs XD
However when I'm on wifi watching Youtube videos it goes down 20% in 20minutes?!
When I am charging, it says "slow charging" which it is when I'm at work. But at home, a few occasions I charge from literally 3% charge and in 40minutes its already 40%-ish?! whats going on here?
AW: Abnormal battery consumption?
My phone runs for 24hrs now, I did some Skype and icq (im+), have wlan on all the time, even at night, and I am on 80% atm.

Hello fellow note owners
My note has been draining a heavy amount of battery lately. 2 days ago I did a battery calibration, drain it to 0 then fully charge it to 100 while phone is off. Today i turned it on and I was surprised the first 5 mins I used the phone, 5% of battery gone!
I am currently using Rocket Rom v22 on Abyss kernel 4.2
Abyssplug governor
I am using SPB Shell launcher
My screen brightness is all the way to dimmest
Wifi,gps,BT are all turned off
Data and background data is on
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I have this app but I dont really know how to use it... and also I am not concerned about my phone draining battery when im not using it. Its when I am CURRENTLY using it and draining massive amount of battery for simple task (I.e browsing over my phone's apps, Internet, checking email using K9 mail, Facebook) I literally just unplugged the phone from charger and used for 5 mins and battery immediately dropped to 95%...

This is what I wanted to happend 3% PER HOUR!!! Mine is 5 mins = 5% gone!
What do you mean reseting? Reset what?
However any app grinding when you aren't using the phone will also be grinding cpu when you are.. In better battery stats select wakelocks and see what apps are constantly waking up.
You really want to get your phone using minimal cpu when it's off so you can really judge how much the running apps are using.

Check out Badass Battery Monitor. It's easier to understand.
I was having the same battery drain issue. I install better battery stat app and found that google+ was using most of the battery and stay awake the whole time. I uninstall google+ and no more drain.
I am not sure if these are normal..
Can someone guide me on how to do some tweaking/killing bloatwares to improve battery life?

Hello guys..
I am a GNote 2 user, but i'm planning to buy a smartphone for my girlfriend and in this case, i think s3 mini is quite a good phone..
what i am asking here is, how's the battery life on s3 mini? with my note 2, i can get around 24 hours with email, twitter, facebook, and another social network app syncing every time and a lil bit gaming of course.. For the s3 mini, how long does it last in average? Thanks :fingers-crossed:
Mine lasts for 30hrs with wifi and mobile data always on, a bit of gaming, alot of messaging, few calls, browsing and so on... Great battery life all in all...

GSM Arena says the battery strength on this likely related to Jelly Bean optimisations. They say other Jelly Bean phones they've tested perform REALLY well battery-wise. Other phones with bigger batteries on older software die long beforehand. You can see the battery test for this phone here: http://blog.gsmarena.com/samsung-ga...hes-our-battery-tests-the-results-are-inside/
Hours, minutes:
Calls, 6.22
Web, 7.38
Video, 7.46
I'm surprised that your phones can take it that long with gaming/browsing like that.. mine normally gets through the day, with +-5% to spare..
- charges by night, till 7A.M.
- overday average usage: 25 texts, 15-30min talking, 20min gaming, 20min doing other stuff
- wifi/mobile data/sync/bluetooth are always on
- going to bed at 1A.M., so 18h of working time.
Guess I could optimize by disabling that wifi etc.. Also tried some power savers:
- juice defender didn't do a thing at first sight :/ (free edition)
- easy power blabla was buggy & gave black screens
- go power master really helps, managed to get through 2 days actually.. however, the screen transitions were quite slow. I don't know yet what settings I used, reinstalled it today & at first glance it doesn't help that much anymore.. (transitions are smooth again though)
Any other tips on power saving are also welcome
You should see the battery life on the MyTouch 4G Slide. You're lucky to get four hours on standby with it.

Its normal. Your phone still uses os features.
You can't expect from smartphones these days to last 4 days
So two days ago i bought a s3mini and how it looks, feels and works... i'm loving it..
however, battery time seems to suck... today i'm at 43% after 8 hours.... meaning it won't make it till I go to bed (still another 8 hours).
Wifi has been turned off all day, my screen, It's a black background without any icons... screen brightness on 30%.
Is this device known to have a short battery life? or did i just have bad luck?

When i bought this phone, battery life was horrible. Then i rooted my phone and installed SetCPU and discovered that my phone was running in performance mode which meant that processor was using both cores at 1000 mhz non stop - even in standby. Then i installed a custom rom and GoldenKernel and started using pegasus governour with 1000 mhz max cpu clock and 200 mhz min.Since then, my battery can last up tu 24 hours with medium usage (WiFi or 3G always on, Auto Sync, high brightness, 2-3 hours of screen time).I currently have about 20% of battery and i unplugged 14 hours ago, but i streamed a whole HD episode of GoT ( 1 hour of heavy cpu/internet usage, 1.3 GB file).
If your phone is rooted, try Greenify. It will hibernate apps during sleep to save battery usage. Get more info on their xda forum.
You can find Greenify here ;

Hey folks! I have recently started observing that my phone is consumimg excessive battery. I really cant seem to understand the cause, but for sure, I know there is an issue unknown to me. As I can see and observe, the situations I've faced are as follows:
1. When fully charged and unplugged, usage on wi-fi, screen on and some music leads to empty battery in almost 2 hours sharp.
2. When fully charged and unplugged, wi-fi off, sync off, GPS off, data off and literally everything off including the screen, then from 100% charge to 25% charge in 8 hours.
3. When I use the phone, as mentioned in point 1, suppose the phone discharges from 100% to say 60% in 40 minutes, the thing I do is turn the screen off. Then as soon as I do this, the battery level rises up until I turn the screen on again. Funny! :/ xD
4. Now the final case is this. When I turn of the phone at suppose 20%( probably unreal charge stats), connect it to a charger, and then while connected, switch on the phone, the phone gets charged up to like 50% or so. Epic fail!
5. Oh I almost forgot, battery usage charts show Android OS consuming 40-85% of the charge at all times in which the wakelock stats are an alarming 3-4 hours as per the 2nd point. Screen consumes 30% of the charge and Android System follows
I am posting my battery usage screenshots here.
1. The first screenshot was the one before I rebooted at 20% charge. Look at the roller coaster battery stats. XD
2. The second screenshot is the one showing all the stupid processes consuming excess battery.
3. Observe the difference towards the extreme right of the third screenshot and the first one. The third screenshot was the one after I rebooted. There is a long white line at the right end of the third one which shows the rise of battery charge from 20% to 56% precisely. Bloody hell!!
:/
Kindly, anyone who feel that they can help, look into this matter and suggest me good options to follow.

Yes I did. All from the scratch. I just red that one htc one owner had similar issue and his fast boot option was off he enabled it and things got way better. so was mine off just enabled it.
Why is everyone so surprised at Android System being at the top of the new battery stats?
It makes sense really. If you don't use your phone a lot, and nothing else is running taking up power, the system is going to be at the top...
As far as an actual drop in battery life, I'd download GSM battery monitor or Better Battery Stats and check for wakelocks.

Yeah I agree, especially if you reset your battery monitoring often, it can be highly confusing and misleading to read battery usage stats. I use Du Battery Monitor which I've been happy with.
I have wakelock detector installed. And also noticed android system wakelocks on cpu wakelocks are high on the high. Higher than anything else. And this happend in the first half an hour I am on the phone. First screenshot is cpu wakelock and second is wakelock triggers.
What would you guys advice to monitor for battery usage : over what time period and what to pay attention most. My wake lock detector is on now and I will do more screenshots tonight.

Well at least your phone is going into deep sleep and doesn't look like any rogue app. You may want to Greenify facebook though.
Also look here for a battery "calibration", some say it worked for them: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43579577&postcount=36105
And don't forget you need to let your battery "settle" which takes a couple of days.

Are your network location services on or off? If they are on, try turning them all off (as well as any Google Now network location service stuff). I found that sometimes the Google services updated badly and went into a situation where the battery would drain rapidly due to constant wakelocks.

I...don't think 16 hours is terrible considering that you seem to have been doing some Youtube and PDF-reading. The percentage on that PDF viewer seems pretty high but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. Facebook is obviously the biggest culprit remaining.
I would try to use Facebook in your browser instead of the app. I'm not a heavy Facebook user and don't need the notifications. It gave me a big battery boost after deinstalling the app. Facebook is constantly syncing and tracking your location, it's very batterie unfriendly

I have thought the same today to have FB on browser rather than app. It is strange I have tweaked FB app a lot like refresh only 4 hours, no notifications left on but app still awakening mad. Now only FB bothers me other apps behave well and I get pretty good battery consumption.
