HELP! - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys. I was trying to install some stuff on my phone last night and I messed it up. I tried to fix it and messed it up even more by formatting the system using advanced settings in CWM, without doing a back up. My phone is now stuck on the splash screen, and I am unable to do anything to it! Could someone please help me!?

Pheeeeeew! Luckily I managed to flash a stock ROM with Odin. I thought I'd well and truly broke my phone after accidently formatting the whole system. I had literally wiped the whole phone of everything. That was a close one! No more messing with my phone!

problems flashing, stuck in boot loop

Hey peeps, hope somebody out there can help. I have quite a strange problem and have tried everything I know to sort it with no luck.
Ok before I start I just want to say I'm not playing the blame game, it was probably an unhappy coincidence it happened at the time it did.
I was on kingk's 2.0 hero rom, but decided i'd try maxisma's, so I wiped, formatted ext, flashed maxisma 2.0, then 2.0.1 which had just been released as a fix. Rebooted the phone. Everything was going smooth, I got a little flash of the notification bar same as what happens with every hero rom I've tried, then I got FC on messaging, then the phone froze. Thinking nothing of it, reboot, reflash after a wipe, but I repaired ext after wiping it. Flashed 2 and 2.0.1, then rebooted. Phone got to htc logo, then froze for a few seconds before going back to the animated android. Ok, this rom needs more time in the oven I thought.
I then wiped, formatted and repaired and flashed kingk's rom back to my phone, boot loop
I tried mlign, boot loop
I tried xrom, boot loop
I flashed htc image and then cyanogen's rom, finally got booted.
I've spoken with MikeTaylor (he has the patience of a saint, buy him a beer, I did) and he suggested clearing the dev folder, I tried and was prompted with "device or service in use" so that didn't work. I even thought going back to stock would help, but it didn't. I then thought it had something to do with the SPL, cyanogen's being the only rom not needing haykuros, so I flashed "the official donut" which also gave me a boot loop.
So here I am, asking for any suggestions, and I'm willing to try anything.
Many thanks in advance for any help, and I hope when I get fixed, this thread isn't used anymore, we don't want more people with my problem
The only suggestion I can make is recreating the partitions on your card using parted or something like that. I had the same problem as you going from Cyan to xROM, recreated the partitions and it was fine
well, not near computer to back things up, but i'l give it a go, it's either that or fastboot erase me thinks
if it works, thanks in advance, if it doesn't then thanks for trying

Oh, I assumed that card wouldn't mount so it wouldn't matter if you couldn't back up
So what does fastboot erase do? Wipe out /system?
i was hoping somebody here could tell me that, i've never used fastboot other than changing the splash screen and that was done using a tool, so i didn't actualy use it lol. card mounts, the flash goes through ok, but it just never boots, unless it's cyanogen mod, which i've not used for about 2 months, xrom awesomeness got to me, but i decided to try out a few hero / sense roms while JAC was out of the office, and now i can't go back to it lol
Sorted, being lazy doesn't work. I used amonra recovery to make the partitions initially which worked, then had this problem. Tried using it again and it said it worked but I still couldn't flash. When I checked manually using parted, it showed 3 partitions. Fat32, blank, and swap. Recreated the partitions and I'm now back to full flashing fun. Unfortunate coincidence it happened right after flashing maxisma's 2.0.1

Stuck on Boot Screen

Hi guys. Yesterday night I was installing a few new apps but the seemed to be stuck installing forever. So I decided to reboot. However, after the reboot, it never goes past the second boot screen.
I know I can just flash to another rom but is there a way to save my data in the instance? I can still get into recovery mode if that helps. Thanks
I've read you can hook up to your pc and mount your sdcard from cwm. Never tried it but if it works you can save your data that way then maybe a master clear/cache or dalvik wipe will help.

You can mount USB in recovery and get all your stuff off of your SD that way. You can also nandroid your current ROM in CWM and re-flash it, then restore from backup. As far as saving texts and all that, Idk if you can, but I'm sure someone else does.
Also, you could try clearing dalvik, cache, and then running the kernel cleaning script. It's gotten me out of a few binds before. It might help you to where you wouldn't have to flash again.

[Q] A Little Help Needed....

So, I kinda messed up my Note.
I know i should be asking this in the Dev page but seeing as i am new member here i am not "allowed" at the moment.
If there is anyone out there that can help me out, it will be greatly appreciated, and now the ordeal:
I have a (to my knowledge) KKA 2.3.6 Stock rom. I was feeling a lil over zealous and thinking of rooting it. I did the zerg method got it rooted. Then i saw the "ICS_transition-KKA-stock" file in the development page.
Now feeling like the lord of the Note, i thought to myself how hard can this be, I rebooted in recovery and installed from zip. Next thing i know i restarted my phone and all is well UNTIL NOW...........the phone booted up first but every app was going force close, i somehow got my phone to go into recovery thinking i can uninstall the "ICS_transition-KKA-stock" from it but there is no option so i rebooted again and now its stuck on BOOT animation. SIGH
SO if there is anyone out there that help me out, i will greatly appreciate it. I backed up all my stuff before i felt like Christopher Columbus so if need be ill be ok to deleting everything.
I tried odin already and no luck......
Thank you and happy Holidays!!!
Try a factory reset/wipe data from recovery
I just did, i tried wipe cache and partition and even the advance section wipe as well. As soon as i reboot it gets stuck on the samsung logo animation.....
Did you also try the 'wipe data/factory reset' option?
Yes sir, tried the 2 wipes and the one in advanced option as well. After reboot the animation is on a loop, the sound only comes once but the vid is looping. I dont know if its recoverable now.....
Thanks for the suggestion though!!!
If you can boot into download mode you can always fix things. I messed up a couple of times and just flashed back to a Samsung full stock firmware using Odin.
Try this:

A newbie question, How do i thank your post!!!???

[Q] Get past bootscreen on i9000b without losing data

Good morning.
first of all, I've already read most of the posts that concern recovering the mobile, but here's the thing:
I flashed other ROMs a while ago, the ICS one iirc, then gave up and changed back to stock froyo, followed by an update to gingerbread via Kies, so my SGS already has the stock ROM. Everything worked fine, as expected, but once in a while when i turned the phone off and back on again, it got on a bootloop, and after many attempts it started ok. It also used to crash and turn itself off sometimes, but since it rarely happened, I wasnt bothered by that.
This time, I had to turn it off, and it just doent start back. I can access download and recovery mode, but since I have some things in its memory that I dont have backup, I really wanted to avoid the hard reset.
Do someone has any idea of how to proceed?
Thanks very much.

do you have clockworkmod recovery? if so then wipe cache, dalvik cache and fix permissions.
if not boot to download mode and flash cwm. then do same as above :good:

Bad situation need help fast!

Hi guys I'm caught in a bad situation. I tried to install a ROM but it went bad so I booted into CWM and erased everything including /data and /system as well as /cache and everything else except for /0 amd /clockworkmod. I then proceeded to install another ROM but it went fine until halfway through it quit and went back into CWM. I didn't know what to do so I restarted the phone into the bootloader and just clicked factory reset hoping it would fix something. But it restarted and stayed on the HTC screen that has the development text and copyright warning on the bottom. It got stuck there for quite a while so I restarted the phone again and tried to go back to CWM but now it just flashes briefely before restarting itself to do the same thing over again! Help please I'm scared I might have bricked it
