I installed the Google Plus app from the market. When I hit the share field it crashes.
Any suggestions?

Get My Fake Location from the market. The app is looking for a GPS location and will crash without one.

I do get some real location services from WiFi (e.g. Google Maps). Will My Fake Location interfere with that?
Don't know. I just turn it on when I want to post something with G+.

Thanks for the tip, it worked fine after installing the app. I hope Google will fix this so that G+ works the way Maps works on our gps-less devices.
Since last Playstore update there was a secret app in it..

Yeah it seems like such a pointless addition. But you can try freezing with TB or something.

Any reason you need to remove it? It looks like it's just making the Google settings more open and easier to access.

So there is no way to remove it? Because I can't find it in TiBu and it bother me it's there. I'll never use it.
Seems you get it, when Playstore is updated.

For those of you who prefer not to be sheep going to slaughter.
I unistalled google play services and that removed it from the phone. Not sure what else will be affected but I am still able to download/install apps from play store. I figure I may miss the next version of play store that comes out. Better than them sneaking stuff in. You may find the actual apk inside the google play directories. Please post if you do.
Also if anyone has ever figured out how to disable E911. If you dont want to disable yours that fine. STFU because your input is not needed ok. I dont want it on, period!!!
For the rest go ahead and follow the heard. [sheep noises....lol] !

Google Play Store and Goggle Play Services are not related. But it was a clever move with the names.
Google Play Services are the core to a host of future functions, especially to apps relating to social contacts, location related services and in particular (paid) games playing. Also, as many have detected already, with the 3. party sign-in control Google is able to watch and possibly control to whom and how you have contact with.
If you de-install Google Services, it will be auto re-installed in shortest time again in the backgound. If you happen to be on mobile data at that time, the bill is on you. If you disable or freeze Google Play Services, it will not be auto re-enabled. At least not as of now. But some functions of the phone and some Google apps like Hangout are made dependant on Goggle Play Services. So there function will cease.
More and more people are disgruntled about the way Google is doing things now. It is absolutely Googles own thing what apps they want to develop, and what functions they want to implement. But shoving down apps onto my property without my consent is not acceptable to me.
The people are not sheeps bcs they are forced to have things installed things they don't fully understand. I believe that many simply don't think twice, if something is (superficially) free, The strategies of companies like Goggle build on that fact.
Yep, it reinstalled. I will freeze it. But the sheep are the people that say one should accept it, or come back with tin foil comments etc. Those are sheep. I agree why force it on people? Esp from software the is supposed to be opensource. As one person posted somewhere it also redundant.
I know what you mean and I share your resentments. Albeit I fear there is nothing much we can do.
Google makes more and more Android functions depend on Google Play Service being on, and up to date. Just recently I registered that Calendar synchronisation now does not work with this "Services" disabled.
Unless someone makes a hacked version of that skunk.
As you guys may know, Google has integrated all their communication systems into the new Google Hangouts and it is started to rolling out.
Just wanted to let all root users know that you don't need to wait to get it as for some your Google Talk isn't being updated to Hangouts currently. Like if you have Talk currently and you go to the playstore and search hangouts it will say you already have it installed and you are updated to Hangouts even though you only have talk.
If you use something like Titanium Backup to uninstall Talk from your device, you can then go on to the playstore and be able to download and install the new Hangouts app.
I don't know if this has already been mentioned as I haven't seen a thread but just wanted to let people on to this little tip if you want to get it right away!
EDIT: I'm thinking now I might have probably posted this in the Themes and Apps forum, but I wasn't exactly sure if this should have been posted there as this is just a general tip. If any Mod wants to move this please do!

You don't need to uninstall Google talk... You can use the Web Google play to install hangouts and it will automatically replaces the old talk or obtain the apk file from the web and install it over the Google talk.

I agree. I really miss the who is online and who is offline thing. You can VAGUELY tell by the contacts picture being grayed out, but that sucks compared to a red dot. Hit the menu button in the hangout app and hit send feedback. Request for this feature to be put back in.
Had problem today

1.Use some app to take backup of Google Play Services (ES File Explorer can do it for you) and save the apk locally. This is recommended because after the next step you may not be able to connect and re-download the update over Mobile Data. It would work on WiFi however.
2.Go to Manage Apps > Google Play Services
3.Do "Uninstall" / "Uninstall Updates" for Google Play Services
4.Google Hangout will automatically ask you to Install or Update Google Play Services.
5. If you "Uninstalled Updates", then the app would update over Mobile Data when you click on update in Google Play. After this go to Step #8
6.If you "Uninstalled" the app completely, you wouldn't find it in Google Play. So install it from the backup created in Step #1.
7.Now go to Google Play and install any updates for Google Play Services.
8.Now open Google Hangout. It may still show you a connection issue for a couple for times.
9.Don't lose your heart. It should work after you try for a maximum of 1-2 times.

I haven't been a huge fan of hangouts either yet. I use textra. I have heard that there might be some nice things in the works for it though. I'm keeping tabs on it.

Hey everyone,
Is anyone able to get the Google Calendar to sync on their device? Every time I try, it asks me log into my account then fails to connect to Google's servers. The AOSP (included) calendar works just fine, just can't get Google's store version to work.
Ultimately, I would like to end up disabling the AOSP version and using the Google Version. I've tried clearing the cache, wiping calendar data, and calendar storage data. Just can't get it to go.
Has anyone else had this issue and figured it out?
BTW, Im developer edition, rooted, unlocked, and removed most bloatware, with the TWRP recovery, if any of that matters.
Thanks in advance.

First uninstall the google calendar that you downloaded from the play store.
Then go into settings>apps>all apps> and disable calendar. Then go into 'calendar storage' and choose force stop, then clear data.
REboot your phone. Install 'google calendar' from the play store, and you should be good to go.

I don't believe anything... at the moment. I believe the intent here is that the play store calendar can be updated more frequently and not with a system update (ie: 4.4 -> 4.4.1, 4.4.2)
Yep. Exactly

Why is there both? Why not have the calendar as the stock app

Same thing I was thinking when trying to update the calendar from the play store. Motorola should have thought this one through lol

Thanks just did this to use the Material Design Google Calendar off the Play Store versus the stock AOSP one that came on the Moto X 2014.
Hello I have 2 calendar apps in my app drawer (both Google). One of them seems to have the AOSP calendar app icon and the other the Play store icon which can be uninstalled as well. But the thing is I never really downloaded the calendar app from play store andy Moto X is 100% stock so how is this possible? Anyone else experiencing this?
Well mine came just with the AOSP one. But either way it doesn't really matter.
You can always just delete the Google one if it bothers you. Otherwise I would recommend the one from Google because it gets regular updates.
