Widget locker music buttons - Motorola Atrix HD

On the stock lockscreen I can control my music via the on screen controls but they aren't there on widget locker. Is there a way to fix that?

I was using this for awhile:

Phantom music control is ok as well

Yea but it stays there. I like the way the stock controls aren't there unless music is being played.

"Widely supported music control widget capable of hiding itself while there is no track playing. It is designed to be used with WidgetLocker Lockscreen, however it is possible to use it on your homescreen as well."

Maybe I set it up wrong?

[Q] beam music to gtab?

Is there a way to beam or remotely send music or YouTube videos to the gtab with my Droid? Want to use gtab as a media device and change songs with my Droid as if it was a remote tried a few apps but none of them do what I'm looking to do.
Object is to not have to touch gtab to change songs.
Thanks,

[Q] Help get Atrix 4G music player working on HD

I just "upgraded" from the 4G to the HD but I miss one thing.
The 4G native music player had a great feature missing on Google's Play, which is the standard music player on the HD. The feature selected songs similar to the one you were playing and populated a playlist (kind of like Pandora for your own music library).
The nice folks at Moto let me download a zip file with that player (music.)APK and an associated file (music.odex). I copied both to my phone. When I run the apk file, it asks if I want to install. When I say "yes," it looks like it is installing, but then after less than a second it gives me an error that says "Application not installed"
How can I install this app or do you know of a music app that has this feature?
Thanks
Root your device and move both the apk and odex file to /system/app then reboot.

This is a helpful idea.
However, is there any way to do this without rooting?
Alternatively, any suggestions for a similar music player that doesn't require rooting?
Thanks.

Most "stock" apps can't be installed normally. None from what I've seen. The only player I'd be able to suggest is PowerAmp but I don't know if it has the feature you're looking for. But the sound quality is incredible if you tweak it just right.

Music control

I can confirm that Gear is working with poweramp, it can control music and display metadada ( song name etc...). Just open a music file with an file.explorer and set the type of file.to be open with de desired program. After that the gear will work work with it.

I cant get mine to play nice with google music It only plays and pauses. once in a blue moon it'll skip tracks. it usually displays the song titles from samsung player. did you have to do anything special to it? i hate not being able to use my Google All access.

It works mediocre with Google music. It often gets confused with samsung music app and will stop controlling Google music.

did you have to do anything to it? i wonder if i rooted the note and deleted the samsung music app if that would help?
I couldnt get google music to play. Even if google music was active in memory, if I pressed next track on media player on watch - Samsung player would play.
I needed a way to make google music the default player. Google search turned up:
Default App Manager Lite (free)
By appiator
Just use the above app to make google music your default music app. Now gear always plays google music. Plus no need to uninstall Samsung music player or root gn3.

SO, just to be 100% clear before I drop $300 lol, this will make it so the stock Gear music controller controls PowerAmp? As well as S Voice launching through PowerAmp for music? My Motoactv just died and the only way I could justify moving away from it is if this had proper remote features to the PowerAmp since I need my custom EQs for my 86 BMW's speakers. If this is all true, as long as I love my Note 3 coming Monday I will be ordering a Gear ASAP! Thanks in advance guys!
It seems that you need to start the desired music player first on the phone. After that all the commands from gear goes to the opened app. That's my case. I tried to set power amp as the default with app manager lite but it seems that doesn't work.

Thanks! While that may not be perfect, I think I'm sold. If anybody has it working seamlessly please post!
I'm using Android Music Player and works great.

So I have to put songs into the gear itself?
If so, how much memory does the gear even have? Lol

Wait, I'm confused. It appears that some are talking about controlling PowerAmp on the Note through the Media Controller while some are talking about running it on the Gear itself. I want to know if I can use the Music controllers on music players besides Samsung's. Also, I've heard that as soon as the Gear times out and the display turns off that you have to navigate back to the media controls. Is this true and is there any way to avoid it?

Thats where I'm sorta confused myself. I wanna know if I can use my gear to control Poweramp on my phone. Everytime I use the Media Controller, it opens up Samsung music app. As for when the display turns off, I press the power button on the Gear and it's still in the Media Controller. Its cool how it shows song of name etc.

[Q] KitKat audio streaming for low-power listening - does our Moto X have it?

I've got the GSM DE and took the 4.4 update last night. I'm curious if anyone knows if the Moto X has the requisite hardware and thus the KitKat support for low-power extended audio listening?
If so - why would anyone buy an N5?
The hardware is there, so I don't see why motorola wouldn't enable it.
On jelly bean, it doesn't even have gapless playback (with Google play music) so I don't have my hopes up.

Officially, our two low power cores only process audio input from the mic and gyroscope/accelerometer activity so it isn't reasonable to assume they do anything else.

The SOC its self has three DSPs on it. Two for the modem and one for applications. The one for applications is probably the one that 4.4 uses for low power audio playback.

That's an issue w/ Google Play Music, not the hardware itself.
Shuttle plays many of my gapless albums [which Google Play Music chokes on] just fine.
Spotify crossfades and plays without gaps just fine, etc.

I believe that is for Miracast, not Chromecast.
For Chromecast some apps will have the Cast button (Youtube, Google Movies, etc.). I believe the Chromecast app has a cast screen functionality included but I haven't tried it.
From what I read and have tried myself, you can not use the screencast in Chromecast with the Turbo. Hope they will enable it soon. Chromecasting from within apps works just not the screencast.

I can confirm and I use thus daily. Just launch the Chromecast app and from the left slide out menu use the cast screen option. Obviously you need the Chromecast stick as well.

Thank you. That left slide out menu hint is what made it work. It wasn't there at first, during initial set-up. But when I re-opened Chromecast app, then it was there and thanks to your tip I found it.
On my Nexus 5, with a custom ROM, the Display/Cast Screen worked with Chromecast, but as others have found out that setting does not work with the Droid Turbo/Moto Maxx.

That setting is for Miracast on the DT.
Picked up a Chromecast on New Years (Grandma bought an new TV at Best Buy on Black Friday, racked up the points, got $25 in Gift cards, was on sale for 29.99, got it for 4.99 + Tax!) and I must say It's not what I though it would be. I got it because it doesn't have a HDMI Out like my Razr Maxx HD and Droid X did. Came in handy and worked great. The thing I hate is if it turn the screen off on the phone it turns it off on the TV as well! My Razr Didn't do that.
I just got the Amazon Fire Stick and the DT screen cast does indeed work. When you first select cast screen a "no devices were found" message shows up. All I did was into that 3 dot menu thingy and check the use wireless box. Maybe that is what is missing from those of you trying with the Chromecast.

No.
They were trying to use it with the Chromecast, which is not a Miracast tech. The fire stick is.

Are you using the mirroring feature in the Chromecast app exclusively instead of finding appropriate apps to send the content? I watch literally all of my TV via a Chromecast and I never need to mirror the entire phone screen.
Must be. Only used it once though just to set it up. I was using the VLC media app to test. Its what i use fir videi playback. On my razr hd it saw the hdmi and used the phone as controls only. Ill look into it more though.
