First of all, I'm new to W8/ X8 because I've been using galaxy Gio and just got w8 as a spare as My mother bought a new phone for herself and gave her old one (w8) to me. Nevertheless, I've been reading the w8 forum and I know there was a rom called Gingerzaraki. However, after searching around, I found that the link to the rom is dead. May I know what happened and does anyone have a backup for it?
I know that this answer dose not answer your question but please use gdx for GB or minicm by naa for ICS/jb experience ,they are most updated and fully working ROMs.

Yeah I agree..
I was a big fan of GingerZaraki but the latest MiniCM10 nightly with nAa-JB-04 kernel is amazing. Very fast and very stable.
Best gaming rom or everyday rom for me.
If you stil want GZR I can Dropbox any for you as I have them all..

That's a pity. His work and attitude was excellent.
Thank you guys, I am interested in it because it has a mixed theme of ICS and Xperia.
If the thread was removed because of the OP's request, then I think I should respect him and not ask for a backup for that.
Maybe I will choose some lightweight roms for W8 instead since ICS roms for my Gio (has a slightly higher clock speed and slightly more ram than W8) is a little laggy already.

thanks for the help. i'm using win7 but i'll try to download on linux. it's strange because it says the file with the right extension, but the internet explorer then downloads as zip, i open and i see the files that would be flashed but can't rename from zip to ftf.
after saying it would be me, i tried with linux, and it went well, after in windows tried again but with chrome, also went well.
in conclusion the ftf file can't be downloaded on internet explorer!

This is a stock KK4 Android 3.2 ClockworkMod flashable zip.
Installation:
-copy kk4.zip to internal storage
-boot into CWM
-wipe data
-instal kk4.zip
First boot will take longer than usual. I highly recommend a backup prior to flashing.
Stock kernel is also inluded.
Download:

That's spooky, I was just wondering if anyone had made a CWM flashable version of KK4 yet lol. Nice one and thanks!

So its not a placebo then, coz It feels real good to me too. Not found anything wrong or troublesome.
The only thing I can say to sum up the Galaxy Note is....... You "NEED" It in your life! I had the Galaxy S II before this and the Dell Streak before that, this combines the love of the two
Devs are a bit thin at the minute as it's so new, I got mine at the beggining of November (And paid a fair bit more for the priviledge lol) but well worth it, I can see me having this for the next two years minimum......Ok Ok, I know I'm not kidding anyone....... I'll have it until they release a Note II haha
Runs very smooth! Much better than the other 3.2 Rom. But not that good browsing experience i have with 3.1! Dolphin lacks sometimes.
Anyway... Thanks for the upload!
Hope ICS comes soon!

auto rotation problem
If i run an app that only works in portrait mode, the devices auto rotate stops working.
Also still the lag on swype keyboard (in browser) exists, when typing (not swyping). This keyboard lag ruins user experience.
Another problem is the cursor jumps to completely different spot when trying to put it in the text.

Download the ROM. Extract the zip file. The base, i guess is the indian gingerbread. Download it for galaxy mini. Extract that too. Or take a 2.3.6 based custom ROM (a stock based one, not cm7 or miui) replace the app, framework, and media folder with the ones in the ACE's ROM. Should boot.

Hi guys,
I own a Galaxy S i9000 mobile.
It's running on :
Android 2.3.3
Baseband : DXJV9
I have not rooted it or did anything till now.
I wanna flash ICS AOKP on my mobile..
I have tried using the search option but still im soo deserted.
Can you guys guide me on how to root, flash CWM recovery, and flash ICS please ?
and Does Galaxy S supports ROM Manager ? coz i've been using Galaxy Ace before and it didn't support it..
Thanks a lot
For Root read this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
You need to download file ending in JVP. Usually you want the one ending with last 3 digits of your baseband but as there is no JV9 JVP is close enough and is reported as working. Besides it does not really matter as you just need this for root.
Once you have root you can simply follow the guide in the AOKP thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1524108
I know you have stated you want AOKP but if you want a bullet proof simple way to get this all done start with this thread for Team ICSSGS.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494493
I usually like to make sure I have all necessary files, roms & programmes before starting so if anything goes wrong I can get my phone working again. This tutorial will help you with that also.
After following all of this you should have a good understanding of what to do and then you can flash AOKP as their instructions are kind of limited.
Also when choosing an ICS Rom this is a great thread with regards to performance.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1554621
AOKP is a wonderful choice.
But if I can give you an advice, wait for the next Milestone which is expected to be released over the next few days

and finally, Which version of the kernel should i use for official AOKP b34? 1.1.0 or 1.1.0s?
Not sure but both should work. 1.0.1s is for slim ics and other roms. If it is not compatible it will break 720 video recording & playback otherwise eveything else should work. There is also a video patch somewhere.

Alright..I've flashed AOKP b34 and Semaphore 1.1.0s
Everything seems to be fine
But now my sdcard is mounted as internal storage and the actual internal storage is mounted as sdcard..is this a bug or what ?
Even when I connect my phone to my PC using USB,only the actual internal storage (which is mounted as SDcard shows up..
I personally haven't 1.1.0 only 1.0.1sbm with slim ics. I think the 1.1.0 is still a test version for cm9 but could be wrong. Things may have updated since i last looked but i recommend reading the semaphore thread and posting there for more help.

Known bug in Semaphore. Make sure you enable the 'Netfilter' module in the app. When it randomly doesn't work, which is the bug, simply check and uncheck it 2 times and it will work.

and also if i wanted to try cm10 which one should i download since theres so many nightlies versions im confused?
thanks inadvance
test latest nightly

if you have problem with v7, try v6.4

Hi, I`m completely new to smartphones so bear with me, this is my very first one! :victory:
A brief search did not yield any answer, plus I think such an amateurish question would never be asked here.
I`m thinking that a newer firmware will have more features, fixes etc... and will mean more stuff for the CPU to deal with.
If i update my firmware to the latest firmware that is possible for my mobile, will it slow down my mobile?
No, JB or ICS are significantly smoother than GB and have more features. Its like saying Windows 95 is faster than Windows 7 because Windows 7 has more features.

The only thing that some people say is better on gingerbread is battery life, however there is no hard evidence

Thanks again.
Is there any particular way/method/version... anything that you would suggest when updating my firmware?...
I`m feeling a bit overwhelmed with all this stuff, that`s why I`m asking.

There are loads of tutorials. Long story short, when you're on GB, you root your phone (flash CF root via Odin), and from there its as simple as downloading a zip file and flashing it in recovery if you want ICS or JB. If you run into any problems, I'll help, but i won't spoonfeed you information which is freely available.

The link you have on your website to odin and the download link i found on this forum both have the file unavailable.
I downloaded Odin3-v1.85 from an alternative location from this website. I`m assuming it will still work.... right?
I also found this MobileODINLite-v3.57.apk, what is the difference between the 2 versions of Odin? and which is 'better'?

Don't use mobile odin.
Once you've found the root kernel for your system, flash it in Odin.
What system ( android version, be specific) do you have?

Ignore him
Do this

You'll upgrade to 2.3.6 then root it, after you do it you'll see how easy it was
Edit: corrected the link
Regarding the exynos exploit, it only affects phones with the exynos processor, the i9000 uses a different one so its not affected
