Stamina mode - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys does anyone know how to make Facebook sleep
I've had a message from stamina mode saying that Facebook prevents the phone from entering stamina mode which seems a little odd considering that Facebook came pre installed

Turn off auto-login. If that doesn't help - just force close the app, it shouldn't turn itself on again unless you do it manually.

"Phone Only" Mode

Hi mates,
I was wondering if there is a way to set my X8 to work only in phone mode?
Make and receive calls and send sms. Everything else is shutdown.
Like a Full Mode and Phone Only Mode Button or boot option.
I found this app in play store: Simple Phone Seniors Phonotto
What i want is this app with all other nationalities in standby or disable.
Cm7 roms have power widget. So why use some app that will drain battery.

[Q] Stamina Mode not working!??

I'm not even talking about the estimated times here.
For example I turn on Stamina mode, but when I get a message on WhatsApp or Skype my phone notifies me... I haven't added any apps the the Stamina whitelist. I don't know if anyone else has this.
In the previous fw when I got a message on WApp/Skype, the phone wouldn't notify me (I'm not talking about the led, because I know that, that didn't work). Only after I turned on my screen I would see that people send me a message.

Try this, it works for me.
Open the Settings.
Now tap on “apps”.
Then swiper to the right until you top the All apps.
And then Tab on “Eco Controller mode”.
Now tap Force stop and then Clear data
restart your Sony Xperia Z by holding the on / off and volume up buttons simultaneously, or by holding the on / off inside until a popup when you press the switch.

Thanks I'll try it later.
If it would work then I'd find it weird anyways, since it didn't work (Stamina) since I flashed the new fw (Which wiped my entire internal memory so nothing from the old fw should be there to intervene)

Oke.... I have to clean these settings every 2a3 days cause stamina then gets stuck and not working, maybe a 3parry taskkiller or cach cleaner messes these settings up and deletes them ergo f#cking staminamode up

Or Sony should fix their bs, instead of giving us more work
that is just an estimate time . Stamina mode increases standby time . If you use your phone all the time ofc the counter goes down. It's supposed to give you an accurate time regarding your current usage pattern. MIne oscilates between 1 day and 18 hours or so . Depends on what i am doing on it

I dare you.....check your estimate with and without stamina on,then turn it off.....remember that.....search Eco control sys app....delete the info/cach reboot with volume op 3times vibrate method and turn stamina bavk on and check your astimated time.
On my xperia my standby time is more then dubbled with this method
Sent from my C6603 using xda app-developers app
i already did this back on 434 and did not notice any difference besides the counter showing 3 days or something like that then back to 1 day after my normal using . I did not do the 3 vibration reset back then though.

[Q] With Stamina mode on, what do I set WiFi as?

Hey guys, apologies if this has already been queried, I look around first and couldnt find another thread about it, just similar topics.
I recently got the Xperia Z and I've got the Stamina mode turned on. As I have unlimited data, I always leave my data turned on and I have switched on the the location based WIFI so that my phone can auto switch to WIFI when Im somewhere that I have successfully connected to before.
My question is though, to get the benefit of all this battery saving modes, in the WIFI settings where it says 'Keep on during sleep' should I turn that to 'Only when plugged in/Never' or can I leave it set as 'Always' cause of having Stamina mode on? Or does the Stamina mode only turn my mobile data on/off?
Thanks for any and all help guy.

For my device, the Wifi setting bypasses the Stamina mode...if you really want to save power...put the wifi on never setting.
Thanks chefnoob,
when you say bypass, you mean that it doesn't turn off WiFi for your device, only mobile data? Sorry to sound like such a noob. I have set it to 'Only when plugged in' as whenever its plugged in, it is charging, so I don't worry about power saving during this time.
Have you, or anyone else, come across problems with Whatsapp being a huge battery drain? Stamina mode had notified me that Whatsapp was preventing it from fully working, but it was only when i finally decided to check in my battery usage that i realized it was using as much as 75% of my battery :/. Tried force stopping it, but then It stops you from receiving messages until you decide to open the app again.
I am hoping that it gets fixed in an update soon, if not I may have to uninstall.
Thanks again. Gaz
You'll save more power by keeping your wifi always on.
I beg to differ.

mengsuan - But that would mean all the time my phone is locked it will still be connected/trying to connect to WiFi, where as if I have my WiFi set to one of the other two, like the mobile data in stamina mode, it will be temporarily turned off until unlock my phone again. Surely the latter would be more power saving, having mobile and WiFi disable themselves whenever the device goes into sleep?

Yes, meaning that even if I had the stamina mode on... If the WiFi is set to always, the WiFi still connects...
Dont quote me on this but I think stamina mode only works with data.

Yes, that is correct...
Also, if you set WiFi to "always" and you are not connected to a network, it uses up more power to seek for networks...
With your whatsapp problem, I think you have a conflict happening...
Maybe you got the whatsapp set to sync regularly while you have stamina mode on. What happens is, whatsapp tries to connect/sync but it cant due to stamina mode. Try this work around...
If you want to keep using whatsapp, add it to the exemption list in stamina mode. That way, it wont block it.
If you dont really need whatsapp, just disable it...you'll save more power using the latter.

Oh right, thanks chefnoob
In regards to the WiFi, I have set it to 'Only when plugged in' as I dont mind it being on more whilst my device is charging. When I unlock my device and I'm in range of one of my 'location based Wifi'' spots, it doesn't take very long to connect so that I can use that rather than mobile data.
As for Whatsapp, I don't really use it a huge amount, but I'm not fully decided on whether I want to uninstall yet haha, so my 'kind of' fix for now is to go on to read/reply to a message from someone, then if I expect a quick reply back leave it for a few minutes, if not I just force stop the app and check it again later on. A tedious job just to use an app, i know, but at the moment its my main method of contact with one of my friends, so I will need to find a new way before uninstalling.
Thanks anyway though, to you all, for help in answering my question and clearing it all up for me

Have you left Stamina mode activated for a while? After a while it told me what's app was causing wakeups that were preventing Stamina mode from working properly.

go to settings>apps>All> then look for extended standby mode control and Double tap.
press Force stop and Clear data
Restart your phone and the stamina mode should work again.
I am unable to find that app
Its not der in my phone

The app's name is: Eco Mode controller
There is no point in clearing the data. Stamina mode is working for you. After a while it collects data about your usage style and give you the approximate time remaining if you continue to use it in the same way.
Clearing the data will erase all statistic and your phone will show default standby time

Works! Great idea bro
E: just temporarely...
i think this problem is in the .205 update itself because im on custom rom stock based .205 and experience the same issue too.. when i did the factory reset it solved the issue temporarily, now the issue comes back again..
i have had the same issue on my xperia p with custom rom. additionally to the here explained wipe of ecomode data, stop it and reboot,
I had to wipe the superstamina from dalvik cache before reboot. After that all together, it starts working well for me

Does Anyone Know How To Turn On Airplane Mode On A Timer?

I'm using a rooted 4.2.2 Xperia Z, I've tried all of the "auto airplane mode" apps on the Google play store such as https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=be1ay.flymode&hl=en , but none of them seem to work and I'm not sure why. They're all for Android 4.2, my phone is rooted I've tried multiple apps and it doesn't seem to turn on airplane mode during certain times.
I'm trying to do this to save battery since I'm not using my phone when I'm asleep...
Use the App AutomateIt. I use it too and it is really good. I bought the Pro version but there is also a free version. It is really easy to use.
